The high north has always fascinated us and so we welcome the invitation to travel to Luleå. The city of Luleå is on the coast of northern Sweden in Swedish Lapland, just an hour from the arctic circle. We are pleased to take the train on the outbound journey. So we have the opportunity to see more of the landscape. In the evening we meet our small group of bloggers at Stockholm Central Station. Here we get our ticket and walk to the train. The 900-kilometer journey takes about 13 hours and leads from Stockholm via Uppsala, Älvsbyn and Boden to Lulea. We reach Uppsala already in the dark, so that we hardly see something of it, as well as from most of the route. But we see extensive forests and beautiful lakes. Between this from time to time a village or a smaller town. On the train, we get a 3-bed compartment, which we share with a colleague and stow away our luggage. Then there is time to laugh and joke over a beer with our blogger friends. It is amazing how many people can find space in such a compartment. The next morning we have breakfast in the diner of the train. In Älvsbyn the train stops for a few minutes, which we use for an excursion to the platform. In the village of Boden, the railway line forks and we have to wait for a return train, which takes us from there to Lulea. On the platform, we find a boy with an oversized chocolate bar. But we can not find out whether there is a production facility here. Our blogger friend Ajay did not want to miss to borrow the chocolate for a photo. Die Stadt Luleå liegt an der Küste von Nordschweden in Schwedisch Lappland, nur eine Stunde vom nördlichen Polarkreis entfernt. Besonderes erfreut sind wir, dass wir auf dem Hinweg mit dem Zug fahren. So haben wir die Möglichkeit etwas mehr von der Landschaft zu sehen. Am Abend treffen wir unsere kleine Gruppe von Bloggern am Hauptbahnhof Stockholm. Hier bekommen wir unsere Ticket und werden noch zum Zug begleitet. Die 900 km lange Reise dauert ca 13 Stunden und führt von Stockholm über Uppsala, Älvsbyn und Boden nach Lulea. Uppsala erreichen wir bereits bei Dunkelheit, so dass wir davon kaum noch etwas sehen, ebenso wie vom Großteil der Strecke. Was wir sehen sind aber größtenteils weitläufige Wälder und immer wieder wunderschöne Seen. Dazwischen ab und zu ein Dorf oder eine kleinere Stadt. Im Zug bekommen wir ein 3- Bett Abteil, das wir mit einer Kollegin teilen, zugewiesen und verstauen unser Gepäck. Danach wird noch eine Weile bei einem Bier gelacht und gescherzt. Es ist erstaunlich, wie viele Menschen in einem Abteil Platz finden. Am nächsten Morgen geht es erst einmal zum Frühstück in den Speisewagen. In Älvsbyn stoppt der Zug einige Minuten, die wir zu einem Ausflug auf den Bahnsteig nutzen. In Boden gabelt sich die Bahnlinie und wir müssen auf einen Gegenzug warten, der uns von dort nach Lulea bringt. Es ist die Strecke auf der das Erz von Lulea nach Narvik in Norwegen transportiert wird. Auf dem Bahnsteig fällt uns ein Junge mit einem überdimensionalen Toblerone Riegel auf. Wir können aber nicht in Erfahrung bringen, ob es hier eine Fertigungsstätte gibt. Unser Bloggerfreund Ajay lässt es sich nicht nehmen, sich die Schokolade für ein Photo auszuleihen.
