Seattle (i/siˈætəl/) is a West Coast seaport city and the seat of King County. With an estimated 662,400 residents as of 2015, Seattle is the largest city in both the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest region of North America. In July 2013 it was the fastest-growing major city in the United States, and remained in the top five in May 2015 with an annual growth rate of 2.1%. The Seattle metropolitan area of around 3.6 million inhabitants is the 15th largest metropolitan area in the United States. The city is situated on an isthmus between Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington, about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canada–United States border. A major gateway for trade with Asia, Seattle is the third largest port in North America in terms of container handling as of 2015.
The Seattle area was previously inhabited by Native Americans for at least 4,000 years before the first permanent European settlers.Arthur A. Denny and his group of travelers, subsequently known as the Denny Party, arrived from Illinois via Portland, Oregon on the schooner Exact at Alki Point on November 13, 1851. The settlement was moved to the eastern shore of Elliott Bay and named "Seattle" in 1852, after Chief Si'ahl of the local Duwamish and Suquamish tribes.

Each week, the daters debrief with Dr. Johnson and see if they are any closer to their romantic goals. They're sure they can work themselves out, if they ever learn to give up their bad habits. If not this week, maybe next time. And trust me, a bad date for these guys would be a good start!

Recalling is a collage of footage that recalls my memory of Kurt Cobain's death. Three days after my third birthday Kurt had killed himself, on April 8th he was discovered by an electrician and the media went wild. I watched CNN announce his death as this channel was always on because my Dad constantly watched the news and stock market. I felt a simple sadness for him and his family as I was only three, yet I understood what suicide was because my Mom and I used to watch Marilyn Monroe movies together. She had to explain to me how Marilyn had died because I was curious. Little did I know that I would continue to be infatuated with learning about Kurt and trying to understand why this all happened. I grew more and more connected and found the solace so many people had found in his music. I ...

THE DAY STATIC DIED AND LEARNING BEGAN: Might digital antenna television become the cure to America’s failing education system? by Richard Courchesne MC5308 – Seminar in Advertising & Public Relations Dr. Jinbong Choi Texas State University – San Marcos rc1237@txstate.edu November 22nd 2010 2010 Texas State University School of Journalism & Mass Communication, Fall 2010. Introduction: The following is a sociological experiment of the effective influence of broadcast television sub-channel communication: O + K.2 [CPM= GRP x 1000/aHH + s] = n (participant HH). Knowledge is power; the power of knowing how things work, and how to work them, is power at work. Analog Days: How Technology Changed Our Culture Those of us born before 1980 increasingly cannot recognize the world around us. Our rapid adoption of computers, the Internet and mobile devices has transformed the way we communicate. This technical revolution has had profound social effects, splitting our society into “analog” and “digital” cultures. We now struggle to live simultaneously in two cultures – one that hews to a world rooted in books and personal social contacts, the other oriented toward a vast global computer network that sends us news and entertainment at the click of a fingertip. Can old analog values survive in this new digital universe? Our conversation, led by technology expert Alex Alben, explores how digital inventions are shaping communication, political discourse an...

It was a cramped flight home in economy in the tightly fit slim seats of All Nippon Airways Dreamliner's economy class, but other than that complaint it was a smooth journey in a new Dreamliner with excellent service that you'll see throughout the video. Welcome to Japan as we board flight 178 and head home to Seattle, WA USA. My suggestions, if you're a tall person do yourself a favor and pick an aisle seat no matter how much you like the window or splurge on their premium economy which looked like some airline's business class products! DL 588 onboard Delta Airlines 767-300. Flying from Shanghai PVG to Seattle Sea-Tac SEA. Seated in regular economy class. I thought Delta had refurbished all their 767's already, but apparently not as this aircraft had all the old seats and entertainment systems.
Onboard Delta Airlines Seattle to Seoul service aboard their Boeing 767-300 in Economy Class. I did not opt for the Economy Comfort upgrade option which was priced at $150 one way. This cabin featured their new Delta Studio in flight entertainment system in all cabins. Overall was a very pleasant flight, if not for a minor lack of food over the journey.
Yo whats up? This is the second part of my trip to Seattle. We were delayed for about 5.5 hours due to heavy thunderstorms in Washington Dulles(thus the title: my long way to seattle) I have never personally experienced anything like that, it looks impressive on the footage but it was way more frightening in real! I was so happy that we didn't try to fly out of Dulles with such bad weather approaching! Luckily we could fly the same day so nothing changed in our travel plans. United really did a great job there and I'm very thankful for that! Also how they managed to arrange everything to get us to Seattle after midnight was really impressive! Well done United! I saved and adapted my project a couple of times to prevent the movie maker from crashing but it fucked up the quality! SORRY. Wont happen again. I'm still in a learning process how to get my videos awesome! :) This is the first part of my trip to Seattle. United offered the best deal in economy and flying on a 777 over the pond isn't too bad so we decided to give them a try in economy. They have a really nice economy product on their 777's, even with a 3-3-3 layout. Legroom was great too but see for yourself in the video. I think it would be fun to add a little more to my reviews like the waking up scenes or going to the airport scenes. Let me know if you like them and what you think about i...

Trenten Huntington, Foster MBA Class of 2012, recently interviewed U.S. Representative Jay Inslee to find out what the Congressman thinks of the vital role of cleantech innovation—not only environmentally, but also economically—and why the UW Environmental Innovation Challenge is an important venue for tomorrow’s cleantech “revolutionaries.” In the UW Environmental Innovation Challenge, student teams define a cleantech problem, design and develop the solution, and produce both a prototype (proof of concept/computer simulation) and business summary that demonstrates the market opportunity. Teams are judged—by Seattle-area experts, entrepreneurs, and cleantech investors—on their prototypes, pitches and business summaries, plus their innovation’s potential for impact. You heard it here first: Seattle's making waves in the non-alcoholic beverage scene. And Seattle's cutting-edge, booze-free beverage domain is no longer just about awesome coffee. Bars and restaurants are concocting all sorts of cool experiences around craft drinks like ginger beer and boutique teas, too. In this episode of Culture Trippers, Seattle resident and CEO of DRY Sparkling beverages, Sharelle Klaus, leads New York-based bartender Leo Robitschek (and us!) around Seattle. But this is no ordinary tour--craft-beverage expert Klaus shows us Seattle through the lens of this refreshingly innovative industry. These craft drinks are healthy, and the locations mixing them up are super-fun scenes, worthy of wiling away hours sipping on pomegranate-infused sparkling water or enjoying, yes,...

Join the Matador Network as we explore Seattle from a local’s perspective. To get a sense of what it’s like to live in Seattle, and to see the Emerald City through the eyes of an insider, we tag along for a day in the life of Kirsten Gardner, a local tour guide who takes us on a hike and to a few of her favorit spots in the neighborhood of Ballard. Then, we follow local glass artist Preston Singletary through Pioneer Square, to grab coffee and check out some local public artworks. Finally, we’ll pop in to Green Lake for a visit with Chef Rachel Yang to see what makes Seattle a perfect place to visit with families. Each visit allows us to gain insight into why Seattle is the city with the perfect mix of both urban and the outdoor life.

The Seattle Center is home to the Pacific Science Center and the popular International Fountain, as well as Seattle's most recognized landmark, the Space Needle. During my time as an intern at Digital Kitchen, I was tasked with doing an individual passion project of my choosing. This encouraged me to explore a medium I was previously unfamiliar with – film. One of my favourite things to do in a new city is to discover the food and flavours it has to offer. I find that it’s often hard to discover the real gems through just using the internet, so it’s usually best to turn to the locals instead. Thus, I decided to ask the only people I knew in the city, my coworkers, what their favourite spots to eat were in the city and why they meant something to them. The project evolved overtime and eventually became what it is today: a compilation of Seattle food culture through the lens of Digital Kitchen. Thank you to everyone at Digital Kitchen’s Seattl...

Our name describes our family, our handcrafted products, and our passion to bring authentic Thai flavor to all the foods you love. Growing up, our mother’s original Thai recipes filled us with deep respect for our heritage, pride in our culture, and a lifelong craving for the fresh, potent flavors found only in authentic Thai cooking. We realized just how special these recipes were when we opened our family restaurant “Toi” in Seattle. Named after our mom, she shared her recipes and skills, served as our guide and inspiration, and was the final word on taste and standards. When the national reviews and honors came in, we celebrated mom first. It was her work that earned us a place in Bon Appetit’s “Best of the Year” issue and national recognition in Travel and Leisure magazines. We now off...

May 2nd 2017 - Dashcam footage shows the moment a plane explodes into a massive fireball while trying to make an emergency landing near Seattle. Several vehicles were damaged but incredibly there were no serious injuries when the plane clipped a power line and crashed in Mukilteo. The pilot took off from Everett’s Paine Field just before 3.30pm but began to lose engine power, Q13 Fox News has reported. He told investigators that because he was losing too much altitude he attempted to land at Harbour Point Boulevard. But the plane clipped some power lines and then hit a street light which ruptured a fuel cell. The pilot and his passenger were not injured.

This is a time-lapse I shot during one of my trips to Seattle. I spent the previous week or two scouting locations online, so once I got there, I had a specific shot list to follow. The skies were a little cloudy at times, but I also got lucky with some nice weather and even had an amazing sunset one evening. I had a blast exploring this amazing city, and many thanks to my friend Stevan for being my personal guide and for driving me around! While most people think of rain and coffee when they hear the name Seattle what they don't realize is just how amazingly beautiful our city can be. Our film aims to do just that. With well over 50,000 photos and countless hours of shooting and editing invested into this project we had to narrow the 90+ separate time lapses we took down to just 51 to complete this 5 minute piece. Some of the places we visited while working on this project include places like Kerry Park, Discovery Park, Alki Beach, and even our friends rooftops. Towards the end of the video security asks him to get dressed - but don't worry, after their conversation about the legality of it and the crowd showed their support for him, they decided to let him be free and naked! These are some of my best time lapse sequences from these past winter months, mostly featuring locations from around the city and on the water. Yes, Seattle gets a lot of drizzle and overcast, especially in the winter, but it also gets some great light (briefly !) after the storms pass through. Be sure to set resolution to HD to enjoy it --- www.facebook.com/timeframesvideo www.timeframesvideo.com
I lay me down tonight
Searching for words to say
So many doubts that fight me
Calling out Your name
But Lord it's me again
Ready for something new
Please rest upon my heart
Like the morning dew
Holy Spirit rain like Seattle
Overtake my life like a flood
Like California, shake what's not like You
I just want a heart like Yours
Just like a painter has
Some colors and a brush
Upon the canvas soon
A masterpiece becomes
Please take all that I am
And all that I can be
Transform, renew, restore
Create a better me
Holy Spirit rain like Seattle
Overtake my life like a flood
Like California, shake what's not like You
I just want a heart like Yours
Holy Spirit rain like Seattle
Overtake my life like a flood
Like California, shake what's not like You
I just want a heart like Yours
Open up my heart
Fill me with Your love
Every single part
Make me what You're made of
Take me from the start
Hold my hand in Yours
Let the rain pour
Holy Spirit rain like Seattle
Overtake my life like a flood
Like California shake what's not like You
