Why Australian Princess producers ‘didn’t like’ working with Jackie O

Reality series Australian Princess — which premiered in 2005 and was inspired by the love story between Mary Donaldson and Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederick — scoured the country to find twelve ordinary young Aussie women and make them royal-ready.

Jackie O hosted the show for two seasons, but admitted this morning on the Kyle and Jackie O Show that she didn’t see eye-to-eye with the producers.

“They tried to make me be a mean girl on that show, they’d be like ‘be tougher, be meaner, tell them this, tell them that,’” she explained.

“I felt really uncomfortable, so I don’t think they [producers] liked working with me on the show. They wanted me to be a b***h, and I didn’t want to be.”

She went on to add that she was told to “stop smiling” at contestants.

“One hundred per cent, they’d say that every time we filmed ... ‘now we need you to be harder, don’t smile at them.’”

The show aired for two seasons before being axed in 2007.

Earlier this year, Jackie O’s radio co-host Kyle Sandilands revealed he hated their stint hosting Big Brother.

The duo took over the job from Gretel Killeen in 2008 — though the series’ original run was cancelled at the end of that season.

And it doesn’t sound like Kyle minded one bit. He described filming on location on the Gold Coast as “hell on Earth.”

“I never even wanted to do it,” he groaned.

“And every week we had to fly to the Gold Coast — ugh!”

The rant continued, with Sandilands claiming his co-host was the only one who cared about it.

“It was hell on earth. I hated it,” he exclaimed.

“I’d go, ‘I don’t give a s**t about any of these clowns [contestants] — I’m here for the cash, and it’s important to you [Jackie] only.’”
