Report: Former NBA star Brandon Roy injured in Los Angeles shooting
FORMER NBA star Brandon Roy has been injured in a shooting, according to Seattle’s King 5.
Roy, who’s currently the head coach of the Nathan Hale High School basketball team, was reportedly attending an outdoor gathering when he was an innocent bystander in ‘what may be a gang related shooting’.
The report claims Roy was treated in southern California and is currently recovering in Washington.
USA Today’s Sam Amick confirmed the news, reporting that Roy was shielding kids from gunfire outside his grandmother’s house.
Roy averaged 18.8 points per game over his six-year NBA career; a career that was cut short by a host of unfortunate injuries.
Roy’s time with the Portland Trail Blazers was most notable, with the now-32-year-old retiring from the NBA in 2013.
