From ramen to riches: Perth student among winning Lotto syndicate

A struggling student from Rivervale is among 12 lucky West Australians who shared in nearly $800,000 prize money after their syndicate won Saturday's Lotto draw.

The winning ticket was one of five sold nationally with each WA syndicate player picking up $66,000 each.

What happens when you win lotto?

It's a dream for many but only a handful of lucky people will get to experience the process of what happens if you come across those winning numbers.

One of those winners was an unidentified student who wasted no time visiting the Lotterywest headquarters on Monday to claim his prize.

"I contemplated camping outside of Lotterywest overnight," he laughed.

"I wouldn't let myself believe it until it had officially been confirmed."

The man said money was often tight and that he survived on a diet of ramen noodles.

"That's the life of a student," he said.

"When I do play Lotto I always go in on a syndicate because it's cheaper and more cost effective."

The six winning numbers were 34, 10, 3, 23, 37, and 29.

WA Lotto players have scooped the division one prize 23 times this year.
