James Hannam took a Physics degree at Oxford before training as an accountant. He enjoyed a successful career in the City, mainly financing film production, but harboured ambitions to write about the history of science. In 2001, he started a part time MA at Birkbeck College, London in Historical Research. The experience only served to further whet his appetite for the subject. In 2003, he was accepted at Cambridge to do a PhD in the History and Philosophy of Science. His thesis on the decline of medieval learning during the sixteenth century was completed in 2008. In the meantime, he also worked on his book for the general reader, "God's Philosophers: How the Medieval World Laid the Foundation of Modern Science" which was published by Icon in 2009. It is published in the US as "The Genesis...
Rocky Mountain Heroes are the people who make Canada an amazing place to live. Not always in the spotlight, they work the gears of our country in their own unique ways, and from them we have something to learn. From the adversity they've overcome, the way they love their family, the way they chase their dreams and the way they light up those around them. These are the role models of our society, and my goal is to seek them out every week for you to learn from, be inspired by and enjoy. John says he's done "everything late". From puberty to marriage to having a kid to living the dream he always knew he'd someday be living. As a full time musician, I quickly became admirable of the path he's walked so far. Please join me in celebrating, John Wort Hannam. John's Website: http://www.johnwort...

But the universe as scrutinized by an impartial and rational spectator can seem blank or inscrutable, and those who do not see it as the work of a divine creator do not seem guilty of any error of logic or observation. This paper suggests that in order to defend the idea of natural knowledge of God we need a different kind of religious epistemology— one that, rather than trying to make religious knowledge conform to a neutral, secular-style epistemic template, takes account of the special conditions under which God, if he exists, might be e...
