When I was nine
I wanted a real gun
They gave me an air gun
When I was 25
I wanted you
You gave me a stone
Who are they â and who are you?
Oh, when I was nine
I wanted a real gun
They gave me an air gun
Then I wanted the real you
Roll away, roll away
A great weight, like a great stone
has rolled away
Roll away, roll away
A great weight, like a great stone
has rolled away
What a day, what a day
A great weight, like a great stone
has rolled away
Roll away, roll away
A great weight, like a great stone
has rolled away
Peace of mind, peace of mind
A great weight, like a great stone
has rolled away
Roll away, roll away
A great weight, like a great stone
has rolled away
Roll away, roll away
A great weight, like a great stone
Took a look down a westbound road
right away I made my choice
Headed out to my big two-wheeler
I was tired of my own voice
Took a bead on the northern plains
and just rolled that power on
Twelve hours out of Mackinaw City
stopped in a bar to have a brew
Met a girl and we had a few drinks
and I told her what I'd decided to do
She looked out the window a long long moment
then she looked into my eyes
She didn't have to say a thing,
I knew what she was thinkin'
Roll, roll me away
Won't you roll me away tonight?
I too am lost, I feel double-crossed
and I'm sick of what's
wrong and what's right
We never even said a word
We just walked out and got on that bike
And we rolled
And we rolled clean out of sight
We rolled across the high plains
deep into the mountains
Felt so good to me
finally feelin' free
Somewhere along a high road
the air began to turn cold
She said she missed her home
I headed on alone
Stood alone on a mountain top
starin' out at the great divide
I could go east, I could go west
It was all up to me to decide
Just then I saw a young hawk flyin'
and my soul began to rise
And pretty soon
My heart was singin'
Roll, roll me away,
I'm gonna roll me away tonight
Gotta keep rollin, gotta keep ridin'
keep searchin' till I find what's right
And as the sunset faded
I spoke to the faintest first starlight
And I said next time
Next time
(Will Jennings / Martee Lebow)
Everyday when I look in the mirror
I try to see where my soul's at now
Happy day - is it further or nearer?
On the way, will I find it somehow?
Yesterday's gone
Love lead me on, oh
I won't ask why
Roll away - it's only time and the river
Roll away - to the endless sea
Roll away - it could all change tomorrow
This is life in it's glory
And the river runs free
Roll away
My dreams build the walls of the city
Broken hearts tear them all down
It ain't always easy and pretty
It's just the world turning around
Give us this day
Give us this night, oh
It'll be all right
Roll away - it's only time and the river
Roll away - to the endless sea
Roll away - it could all change tomorrow
This is life in it's glory
And the river runs free
Oh, roll away
Everyday when I look in the mirror
I try to see where my soul's at now
Roll away - it's only time and the river
Roll away - to the endless sea
Roll away - it could all change tomorrow
This is life in it's glory
And the river runs free
Roll away - it's only time and the river
Roll away - to the endless sea
Roll away - it could all change tomorrow
This is life in it's glory
And the river runs free
Roll away, ahh, oh
The Redchins in their millions
Will overspill their borders
And chaos then will reign in our Rael
The country of my fathers
A proud land overloaded
Like a goldfish being swallowed by a whale
Rael the home of my religion
To me, the center of the earth
The Redchins in their millions
Will overspill their borders
And chaos then will reign in our Rael
My heritage is threatened
My roots are torn and cornered
And so to do my best I'll homeward sail
And so to do my best I'll homeward sail
Now captain, listen to my instructions
Return to this spot on Christmas day
Look toward the shore for my signal
And then you'll know if in Rael I'll stay
If a yellow flag is fluttering
Simply held against the morn
Then you'll know my courage is ended
And you'll send your boat ashore
But if a red flag is flying
Brazen, bold against the blue
Then you'll know that I am staying
And my yacht belongs to you
Now captain listen to my instructions
Return to this spot on Christmas day
Look toward the shore for my signal
And then you'll know if in Rael I'll stay
He's crazy if he thinks we're coming back again
He's crazy if he thinks we're coming back again
He's crazy if he thinks we're coming back again
He's crazy anyway
If a yellow flag is fluttering
Sickly held against the morn
Then you'll know my courage is ended
Roll My Way
(Music & Lyrics: Jill Johnson/Liz Rose/Lisa Carver/Pam Rose)
I've always been stubborn hearted
baby I was just wired too tight
crossed the line before I get started
not enough hours in the day or night
I've been running us too hard lately
You've been diggin' your heals in deep
I think it's time that I slow down maybe
think it's time I let you lead
I'm trying something new
gonna step back a little and see how
things might play
All I gotta do is stop pushing the river
and let you, let you,let you roll my way
I think i'm liking how this is working
I should've done it long time ago
finally giving in what's it hurting
I'm loving going with the flow
I'm trying something new
I just just tep back a little and see how
things might play
All I gotta do is stop pushing the river
and let you, let you, let you roll my way
come on, come on, come on let's see what you got
Do you, do you, do you have it in you or not
I'm trying something new gonna step back
a little and see how things might play
All I gotta do is stop pushing the river
and let you, let you, let you let you try
something new, when I step back a little
and see how things might play
All I gotta do is stop pushing the river and
let you let you let you roll my way
Roll my way
roll my way
yeah roll my roll my roll my way
roll my roll my roll my way
roll my roll my roll my way
roll my roll my roll my way
The moon comes up when the sun goes down,
There's not another living soul around.
Sneak out of the window and come out on the porch,
I'll be waiting by the coulée with a pine tar torch.
Over in the cane field by Louis Boudreaux,
Between the cane mill and Bayou Carencro,
Steam will be rising up above the row,
Nobody's gonna see us, nobody gonna know.
When you roll, roll, roll me.
Take me in your arms and never let me go.
Roll, roll, roll me.
You know I can't control it when you roll me.
Come on, Baby, meet me underneath the Cajun moon,
When the cane gets high around the middle of June.
We gonna rock it, Baby, all night long,
Just as long as the mosquitos gonna leave us alone.
I never met a girl like you,
Oh, well, look-a here what a good day we got today
Why don't we get in the car, baby, and find some game to play
Just let the top down now and get in and let us roll away
Hey diddle, diddle, the dude told a riddle
And the chick jumped over the seat
So he kept her laughing, just to see such sport
Because the dude thought the jump was neat
Oh, well, look-a here what a good day we got today
Why don't we jump in the car, baby, and go find some place to play
Come on let the top down, get in and let's roll away
A little country boy came to blow his horn
The dude was in the meadow and the chick was in the corn
Where was the dude that was driving the car
Underneath the corn stalk playing guitar
Oh, well, look-a there what a good day they got today
Hey, djumping in the car and going to find some place to play
And let the top down, baby, get in and let's roll away
The little boy peeped and saw a big heap
But he couldn't tell hide nor hair
So he left the crack and they finally came back
But they forgot and left the guitar there
Oh, well, well, well, what a good day we got today
Why don't we get back in the car, baby, and talk about the games we play
I've taken walks by the rolling sea
Where the cliffs drop down to the big blue deep
I've breathed in the air that rolls over these hills
I breathe it in but I've had my fill
I've gotta roll, roll away
Maybe I'll return to this island some day
Roll, roll away
Maybe I'll return to this island some day
From the towns to the ports to my thatched hill-top house
I've never felt as safe as I do right now
But I know there's a world waiting out there
I'll rush head first to it, on a wing and a prayer
I've gotta roll, roll away
Maybe I'll return to this island some day
Roll, roll away
Maybe I'll return to this island some day
I love this place with my breath and my bones
I'll always call this island my home
But I know when the day comes to way my farewell
I will return with a story to tell
I've gotta roll, roll away
Maybe I'll return to this island some day
Roll, roll away
Maybe I'll return to this island some day
I've gotta roll, roll away
Maybe I'll return to this island some day
Roll, roll away
Packed my bags with the things I need
A set of wheels and a steady speed
As I roll away
I’m gonna roll away
Cos time means nothing to a man like me
The dark has gone now a blind man sees
I can roll away
I can roll away
Roll away, I aint never coming back
Leave my worries by the old track
Roll away, I can’t stay here no more
Roll away, move along that line
One way ticket, gonna do just fine
Roll away, coz this train don’t stop anymore
There’s a storm that’s a’breaking above our heads
Need to wake up now, get out of our beds
And roll away
And roll away
So come on honey, wont you take my hand
We’ll head on out into the Promised Land
Make our getaway
Make our getaway
Roll away, move along that line
One way ticket, gonna do just fine
Roll away, coz this train don’t stop anymore
Roll away, I aint never coming back
Leave my worries by the old track
Roll away, coz I can’t stay here no more
No more
No, I can’t stay here no more
Roll away, move along that line
One way ticket, gonna do just fine
Roll away, coz this train don’t stop anymore
Roll away, I aint never coming back
Leave my worries by the old track
Roll away, I can’t stay here no more
No more
