“Once [I] get on the floor, all my fear goes away. My body knows how to do it perfectly, just like I’ve done it in the gym.”
Eliza Floisand started gymnastics classes as a young girl, but by the time she was 10 years old, she realized exactly what she liked: tumbling. “I don’t like the bars or the beam,” she told her mother, Caralee Novak Floisand, who competed on the University of Utah gymnastics team from 1985 to 1987.
At age 17, Eliza, a senior at East High, is ranked third in the country in senior elite tumbling in the girls’ 17-and -older category, and placed ninth at the World Championships in Denmark last December.

It changes how they perceive themselves as they are getting ready.”
