ADFU

Two belt driven Gemini turntables and a mixer was all Adfu needed to start his DJ career in 2001. Eleven years later and Adfu is dominating the decks working with Australia’s biggest hip-hop acts.

Palestinian born, Adfu first set foot on australian soil in 1991 and has been in Adelaide ever since. Hibernating in his bedroom, Adfu began to master his crafts of both turntablism and sound engineering. He interacted with like minded musicians and began a friendship with Golden Era records artists Vents, The Funkoars and Hilltop Hoods.

Adfu’s first official release was in 2005, when he dropped ‘Part A’, an EP with his fellow collaborators Adroit Effusive, ‘Part E’ then followed in 2007. In 2010, Adfu engineered, mixed and mastered Adroits’ debut album, named ‘The Album’, in addition to scratching on all 19 tracks featured on that album.

At the same time, Fu was also deep in projects with The Funkoars, both in the studio and on the touring circuit. He features on the latest two Oars albums, ‘the Hangover’ on Bootleg it, and ‘the Quickening’ on ‘WSDL’.

In early 2011, Adfu became an integral part of Vents ARIA Nominated sophomore album ‘Marked for Death’. He formed a hard to top trio with Funkoars member, Trials and Vents. His work on ‘Marked for Death’ touched both the creative and engineering aspects of the album, from scratch hooks to recording vocals and mixing.

Adfu is also one half of a newly formed group, with Trials of The Funkoars called, ‘Theory of Face’. The Duo’s 5 track digital EP, ‘Demz Sqidz’, was released in March 2011 and is available on iTunes.

Apart from his work in the studio, Adfu also has an extensive tour history, smashing the stage on the road with the Funkoars, Hilltop Hoods and predominately Vents, where his skills step outside the decks and doubles as a hype man, adding an intriguing aspect to their powerful live set.

With the release of the 2012 Golden Era Mixtape mixed entirely by Adfu getting the year started, things only seem to be getting busier for the multi-talented turntabalist/ sound engineer.
