    met a lot of ~creative~ types last year who said they grew up working class but later i found out their parents were artists/ musicians / academics. in 2018 it would be cool if we stopped using that as a synonym for poor and started acknowledging how powerful cultural capital is

    The reason why this annoys me so much is because it is how most of the journos at the tabs justify working for them. Their (mostly middle class privilege) mean that the idea of doing a “menial” job rather than working for a right wing tab is totally out of their framework

    Lol nope. Absolutely had enough of this argument. If you can’t find a job in journalism which aligns with the majority of your morals you shouldn’t be working in it IMO.

    journalism is a dying industry and writers need to pay their rent. We're certainly not rich enough to choose our morals over the need to survive. I know people who work at the mail, the sun, the express... normal people just trying to make a living
