Th Terror (1963) is an American horror film produced and directed by Roger Corman. It is famous for being filmed on sets left over from other AIP productions, including The Haunted Palace. The movie was also released as Lady of the Shadows, The Castle of Terror, and The Haunting; it was later featured as an episode of Cinema Insomnia[1] and Elvira's Movie Macabre.
The movie is sometimes linked to Corman's series of "Poe films," which were made between 1960 and 1964 based on the public domain works of Edgar Allan Poe, but The Terror is not actually based on any text by Poe.

Plot
Set in 1806, the film tells the story of a lost French soldier in the Confederation of the Rhine named Andre Duvalier (Jack Nicholson) who is saved by a strange young woman named Helene (Sandra Knight). She looks like Ilsa, the wife of the baron (played by Boris Karloff), who died twenty years before.
Investigating who the woman really is, Andre stumbles upon a hidden secret of the Baron: After he found Ilsa sleeping with another man named Eric, the Baron killed the two of them, or so he explains.

An intriguing plot of ghostly deception and dark secrets, in the tradition of Edgar Allan Poe, unveil in this impressive cult oddity. Sinopsis: Dirigida por Roger Corman, con Boris Karloff y un joven Jack Nicholson en uno de sus primeros papeles, y realizada en tres dias. Un oficial del ejercito de Napoleon, Andre, viaja a caballo por una zona costera. Se encuentra a una mujer extraña, la cual desaparece como por arte de magia. Al intentar buscarla, un halcon le ataca y cae del caballo, perdiendo el sentido. Se despierta en la choza de una anciana. El oficial le cuenta lo que ha sucedido, pero la anciana dice que debe de haberselo imaginado. Pero el oficial de nuevo la ve, y al seguirla, por poco muere en unas arenas movedizas. Descubre un Castillo siniestro, donde vive el Baron Victor Frederick. Su criado le cuenta que la mujer del Baron murio, y que su espiritu vaga maldito por los paramos. Andre, invitado por el Baron, pernocta en el castillo. Curioseando por el Castillo, descubre el retrato de Helene. Es la mujer que el veia en la playa.

The Terror (1963) is a American Vistascope horror film produced and directed by Roger Corman about a French soldier who finds a beautiful mysterious woman who turns out to be a ghost possessed by a witch.
It is famous for being filmed on sets left over from other AIP productions, including The Haunted Palace. The movie was also released as Lady of the Shadows, The Castle of Terror, and The Haunting; it was later featured as an episode of Cinema Insomnia and Elvira's Movie Macabre.
The movie is sometimes linked to Corman's series of "Poe films," which were made between 1960 and 1964 based on works of Edgar Allan Poe.
A young officer in Napoleon's army pursues a mysterious woman to the castle of an elderly Baron where he discovers that she is the pawn of an old witch bent on driving the Baron to suicide.

He is wandering near the coast when he sees a young woman (Sandra Knight) and asks her for directions to Coldon, where he hopes to rejoin his regiment. But the woman doesn't answer, doesn't even greet him and walks away. Eventually she takes him towards the sea, where she disappears in rough water. Andre loses consciousness while trying to follow her, and is attacked by a bird and awakes in a house where an old woman (Dorothy Neumann) claims never to have seen the woman. After he leaves, he sees the woman again, and while trying to follow her, is saved by a man from certain death. Andre learns that in order to help the girl, he must go to castle of Baron Von Leppe (Boris Karloff), and when he arrives, Andre sees the woman looking out of a window.
