UPDATED: After posting a lot of great shooters have come forward with their thoughts. A big shout out to Anthony Brown from the UK who contributed a great deal to this discussion. A few observations worth sharing:
8-bit style banding likely comes from the "use maximum bit depth" automatically not being clicked under Premiere's Sequence Settings. Clicking this will slow down the CPU, but may help for previews. It greatly reduced the XAVC banding, but did not eliminate it in the way that ProRes seems to have.
The 7Q+ maps FS7 Raw with S-Log2, hence the 32 IRE grey reading. Profile mapping may be different from recorder to recorder.
The Atomos Shogun is now capable of recording 12 bit RAW (newest firmware release). And the 7Q+ has been updated with some additional FS7 functionality.

Canon EOS C300
The EOS C300 is a digital cinema camera in the Cinema EOS range. It was announced by Canon on November 3, 2011. The camera is offered with the option of Canon EF or Arri PL mounts, and has been available since January 2012.
Sample footage
Vincent Laforet was given access to a prerelease version of the EOS C300 to shoot the short film Möbius. In addition, the C300 was used along with other Canon EOS dSLRs (such as an infrared-modified Canon EOS 5D Mark II) on the short film When You Find Me, directed by Bryce Dallas Howard and produced by her father Ron Howard.

Crossing the Ecuador (Equator)
I didn't know much about Ecuador except the Galapagos islands so as I arrived in Quito, my initial planned was to be in the country for 2 weeks and move on to Peru. What I did not realize though was the how much more to Ecuador than it is advertise. Did you know that there are more bird species in Ecaudor than in North America and Europe combined!? Did you know that Ecuador has one of the most concentrated numbers of volcano in an area!? Did you know that there are so many volcanos here, you can be busy hiking them for weeks!? Singapore (officially the Republic of Singapore) often referred to as the Lion City, the Garden City and the Red Dot is a global city and sovereign state in Southeast Asia and the world's only island city-state. The nickname «Red Dot» is a reference to its size on the map, contrasting with its achievements.
Singapore is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. This city combines the modern skyscrapers with a medley of Chinese, Malay and Indian influences and tropical climate with tasty food, good shopping and vibrant night-life.

Five Cool Facts About Singapore:
1. Fountain of Wealth at Suntec City [01:57] is listed by the Guinness Book of Records as the largest fountain in the world.
2. The Merlion [00:29], a half-fish, half-lion beast is a fitting symbol of Singapore. The «Singa» or lion represents the animal that a Sumatran prince saw which resembled a lion and the fish is a tribute to Singapore’s history as «Temasek», the ancient sea town.
3. Singlish, a Singaporean patois mixing English with the odd phrase of Chinese, Malay and even Tamil. Many Singaporeans have a habit of adding «la» to the end of their sentences. For example, «okay-la» is one example of Singlish.
4. Buildings in Singapore cannot be higher than 280 metres [02:23] because of busy air traffic. Buildings that scale this height include: One Raffles Place, OUB Centre, UOB Plaza and Republic Plaza.
5. Singapore is an extremely green city with gardens [01:19], trees and jungles everywhere. They are transforming into a «city in a garden» a current government campaign. It’s also very clean due to its littering laws.

Description of Singapore:
Singapore (officially the Republic of Singapore) often referred to as the Lion City, the Garden City and the Red Dot is a global city and sovereign state in Southeast Asia and the world's only island city-state. The nickname «Red Dot» is a reference to its size on the map, contrasting with its achievements.
Singapore is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. This city combines the modern skyscrapers with a medley of Chinese, Malay and Indian influences and tropical climate with tasty food, good shopping and vibrant night-life.

1. Fountain of Wealth at Suntec City [01:57] is listed by the Guinness Book of Records as the largest fountain in the world.
2. The Merlion [00:29], a half-fish, half-lion beast is a fitting symbol of Singapore. The «Singa» or lion represents the animal that a Sumatran prince saw which resembled a lion and the fish is a tribute to Singapore’s history as «Temasek», the ancient sea town.
3. Singlish, a Singaporean patois mixing English with the odd phrase of Chinese, Malay and even Tamil. Many Singaporeans have a habit of adding «la» to the end of their sentences. For example, «okay-la» is one example of Singlish.
4. Buildings in Singapore cannot be higher than 280 metres [02:23] because of busy air traffic. Buildings that scale this height include: One Raffles Place, OUB Centre, UOB Plaza and Republic Plaza.
5. Singapore is an extremely green city with gardens [01:19], trees and jungles everywhere. They are transforming into a «city in a garden» a current government campaign. It’s also very clean due to its littering laws.

This is an overview of the perfect travel rig for shooting professional photo and video. The foundation is two carry-ons that can be easily transported between cars, planes, hotels, and the field. This rig is meant for a solo-operator, in an extreme location, when time, space and image quality are crucial concerns. It is optimized for quick setup and breakdown. This rig is "lightweight" relative to a full pro kit -- it is not intended to replace a hobbyist's backpack.

This is the gear used to shoot Planet Iceland: https://vimeo.com/114108421
The 1DC is the primary photo unit, also used for 4K video when appropriate (weather sealed). The C100 is the primary video unit, thanks to the autofocus and waveform monitoring. Three lenses cover 16-200mm focal lengths and can be used on both cameras. Accessories include ND filters, external SSDs, tripod, and storage. The two storage units operate best when combined with a small shoulder bag or sling, to use when walking far distances with either camera. A note on the A7s below.

There are a number of different options that would work just as well for this rig setup. I personally prefer the Canon image and found that this combination was best for traveling in Iceland and most recently, Antarctica. Obviously a camera like the Sony A7s would be lighter, but in testing, it proved to have worrisome battery life and awkward ergonomics; it's also not weather-sealed. The 1DC is bulletproof, has a better image to my eye, and is shooting 4K internal -- all combined with an absurd photo-platform.
*I did not bring any loupes, like the Zacuto Z-finder, because taking them on/off can be really annoying when going quickly in and out of a case or bag. For the C100 I relied on the waveform to ensure proper exposure and autofocus to ensure accurate image. On the 1DC, when I did shoot video, I did my best to use the LCD and shot a little under to protect the highlights.

"just another travel video" is my graduation film from university and took almost three weeks of shooting in jordan (amman, aqaba, dead sea, red sea, wadi rum, petra) and germany (mainz, saarbrücken). the video editing was done in 2 weeks using pp cc (cut and grading). i do highly recommend jordan for a visit; you will enjoy your stay.

I thought I knew what a good hospitality is like.. until I came to Iran.
"Why go to Iran?" This is a question people often asked when I tell them I was going there. I would have ask the same if it wasn't the words of mouth I heard over the years about how awesome Iran is, how incredibly friendly the people are, and how off the beaten path the whole country is.
The first day I arrived in Tehran, I was walking around the Bazaar and we were approached by several locals asking what we think about Iran, gave us free tea and cakes, and allowed us to roam their warehouses without asking for anything in return. This similar scenario happened a lot more throughout my 2 weeks time in Iran and really got me thinking about how misinformed I was about the country. It is very safe to travel in Iran, easy to do it independently as the locals will go out of their ways to help you, and the people are one of the friendliest people in the world. Not to mention how beautiful the landscape is, how stunning all the attractions are, and how off the beaten track the whole country is.
Iran is truly a special country that with restore your heart and soul and I hope that this video shows at least half of the warmth I got from the amazing people in Iran.

I didn't get to spend much time in Bolivia (2 weeks only which in comparison to other countries I've done in South America was not much) and I only get to see 3 parts of the country. That said, I did enjoy Bolivia, Potosi and one place the made it all worthwhile to come all the way to this part of the world.. Salar de Uyuni! This salt flat is as alien as it gets. From the infinite sight of the salt flat itself to the colorful lakes and life within the salt flat, Salar de Uyuni is really worth the hype.

I didn't get to spend much time in Bolivia (2 weeks only which in comparison to other countries I've done in South America was not much) and I only get to see 3 parts of the country. That said, I did enjoy Bolivia, Potosi and one place the made it all worthwhile to come all the way to this part of the world.. Salar de Uyuni! This salt flat is as alien as it gets. From the infinite sight of the salt flat itself to the colorful lakes and life within the salt flat, Salar de Uyuni is really worth the hype.

Saw-edged mountain is source of deep impressions caused by the singularity of the place.

I didn't know much about Ecuador except the Galapagos islands so as I arrived in Quito, my initial planned was to be in the country for 2 weeks and move on to Peru. What I did not realize though was the how much more to Ecuador than it is advertise. Did you know that there are more bird species in Ecaudor than in North America and Europe combined!? Did you know that Ecuador has one of the most concentrated numbers of volcano in an area!? Did you know that there are so many volcanos here, you can be busy hiking them for weeks!? Did you know that you can go off and hike 3 - 4 volcanoes right from Quito and came back and sleep in the city? Me neither! Ecuador is truly a hikers' and nature lover's paradise!
Instead of spending only 2 weeks, I spent a whole month traveling around Ecuador. I haven't seen so many animals in my life! I probably seen more animals traveling for a month in Ecuador than in my entire life! I hiked a bunch of volcanoes around Quito (Pichincha, Quilotoa, and Cotopaxi) for a week before heading up north to Mindo, tubed down a river, and swam in the waterfall before heading to the Amazon for 4 days. Let just say that the Amazon is an unforgiving place and there are some crazy monsters in there as you will see in the video. And of course, Galapagos where I took a 6 days cruise around the Isabela island, swam with sea lions, sharks and sea turtles, had up close experience with the iguanas, the penguins, and the blue foot boobies. It was one of the most spectacle moment of my life being around these animals on a deserted part of the world and seeing how they live. From Galapagos, I hopped from Guayaquil to Cuenca and eventually to Vilcabamba before crossing the border to Peru.
