Ahvaz is a city located in Khuzestan Province in the southwest of Iran. The Bazaar of Imam Khomeini is one of the main commercial centers of the city. Much of the trade and finance in the city has moved to this traditional bazaar which is about 100 years old.
Ahvaz is home to many historical monuments. This historical bridge is called the White Bridge. It was inaugurated in 1936 by a German couple. The White Bridge of Ahvaz has been registered as a National Heritage of Iran.
The Cable Bridge is the 8th bridge built crossing the Karun River in Ahvaz. It was built in 2012. Having 22 pillars to support it, the bridge spans over a length of 1,014 meters and is regarded as the longest Cable Bridge in the Middle East.

Ahvaz
Ahvaz (Persian: اهواز Ahvāz) is a city in the south of Iran. At the 2011 census, its population was 1,112,021 and its built-up (or metro) area with Sheybany was home to 1,136,989 inhabitants. Ahvaz has the world's worst air pollution according to a survey by the World Health Organization in 2011.
Ahvaz is built on the banks of the Karun River and is situated in the middle of Khuzestan Province, of which it is the capital and most populous city. The city has an average elevation of 20 meters above sea level.
Etymology
The word Ahvaz is a Persianized form, which in turn itself is derived from a Persian word. The Dehkhoda Dictionary specifically defines the "Suq-al-Ahvaz" as "Market of the Khuzis", where "Suq" is the elamite word for market, and "Ahvaz" is a broken plural (اسم جمع) of the form "af'āl" (افعال) of the word "Huz", which itself comes from the Persian Huz, from Achaemenid inscriptions where the term first appears. Thus, "Ahvaz" in Persian means "the Huz-i people", which refers to the non-Arabic original inhabitants of Khūzestān.

IV of Parthia, excavated by a French team in Khuzestan in 1939. The
ziggurat of Choqa Zanbil in Khuzestan was a magnificent structure of
the Iranian Elamite Empire. Khuzestan's Elamites were "precursors of
the royal Persians", and were "the founders of the first Iranian empire
in the geographic sense.". Masjed Jame' Dezful. In spite of Saddam's
devastating bombs, Khuzestan still possesses a rich heritage of
architecture from Islamic, Sassanid, and earlier times. Parthian era
