The List

Welcome to “The List.”  It’s what most people come to BlogActive for, a listing of closeted, anti-gay politicians and high level political staff. The phrase “The List” comes from a blog post by David Corn, who, at the time, was the Washington Editor of The Nation. Corn wrote about the list, then two years old, on his site (an archive snip is here).

After two years of looking for this so called “List,” I obtained a copy. I laughed when it was handed to me.The so-called secret “List” was the same as the graphic you see on the right. Back then it was the left sidebar of BlogActive 1.0.

The List, as it’s now informally referred to, is in a constant state of evolution. As long as there are closeted anti-gay politicians, I’ll keep it updated.

I love this effort and the spirit behind it. As Barney Frank has said, “There is a right to privacy but there is no right to hypocrasy”. But why Barbara Mikulski? I don’t remember her ever going after GLBT people. Did she?

During the intense battle in 2004 Mikulski – despite being from a state where it would not have affected her to do so, she refused for months to take a stand on the Federal Marriage Amendment.

The lovely dapper “perpetual batchelor” Lindsay Graham, R-SC, John McCain’s reliable butt boy and UN Amb Susan Rice antagonizer?

I appreciate what you are doing. It doesn’t even matter if a congressman is gay or not. It matters that no matter what they are, THEY DONT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT HUMAN LIFE AND SO THEY LET PEOPLE DIE.
