Wondering how the Switch is doing around the world? What about the new Zelda? Nintendo has announced their global sales figures in a newly released financial statement.

In Japan, Nintendo sold 600,000 Switch units between March 3, when the hardware launched, and March 31, when the financial quarter ended. In the Americas, during that same period, 1.2 million Switch units were sold, while another 940,000 Switch units were sold in the region Nintendo calls "Other" (Europe, Australia and beyond).
In total, Nintendo has sold 2.74 million Switch consoles worldwide in less than a month.
During that same period, Nintendo also sold 5.46 million Switch games worldwide. In Japan, 890,000 Switch games were sold, while 2.86 million were sold in The Americas and 1.71 million were sold in "Other".
Globally, Nintendo sold 2.76 million copies of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Switch (including the Wii U version, the total is 3.84 million copies). That's 390,000 copies of Breath of the Wild Switch for Japan (120,000 copies for the Wii U version), and 2.37 Switch copies overseas (960,000 Wii U copies).
Yes, you read that right. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Switch actually outsold the Switch.

Hopefully they'll keep the momentum going up to E3 where I'm hoping they'll have a strong showing with new game announcements and VC news.
Retro have been very quiet so we should expect something from them at e3 which will no doubt be awesome. Their last 5 games have met universal appraise.
Reggie has been hinting at something Metroid coming.
Pretty decent chance of Smash 4 being ported while a lot of people seem to want.
Animal Crossing is also a possibility since they are releasing a mobile app soon which apparently will connect to a console game in some way I think.
Nintendo said Pikmin 4 is pretty much finished years ago so that is just sitting waiting for a release. I guess they had to redo the art a bit to take advantage of the Switch upgrade but that can't be too hard, stick a few junior artists on it.
I think we'll get at least 2 announcements, maybe 1 or 2 of the above or 1 and something else completely new. There will also be a huge focus on Mario Odyssey as well no doubt with playable demos etc.
This is good for Nintendo since it shows that people are still interested in what they create

This has always been the problem with Nintendo. Their system sellers are classics but they take too long to make and get no 3rd party support between.
The Switch probably won't get another Zelda or 3D Mario after this year. It's going to get .5 Mario Kart and Splatoon "sequels" and if it starts to lose momentum after that they'll start pumping out Captain Toad Adventures and 2D spinnoffs that can be finished in a 6-12 month window.

It would be about time for them to cease production and supply then wouldn't it?
I've got a Switch. It's pretty good, but it does need more games. I'm hoping if the hardware sells it attracts more interest from developers and publishers.
DLC notwithstanding, Nintendo titles like Zelda are marketed heavily and given post-release attention well after launch, so much so that we think 'that game came out already, why is Nintendo doing this instead of xxx not yet out'.
I'd expect the DLC that is coming out for Zelda will get the game back in the headlines on gaming sites, but time will tell.
My point is I haven't really started Zelda. And I feel I have missed the 'designated' time to be interested in Zelda on sites like this. I'm definitely part of that 2 and a bit million but I'm enjoying the game at my own pace.
