'I wasn't looking at his shorts... I was checking how my boyfriend was doing!' Woman snapped appearing shocked as marathon runner accidentally exposed himself reveals what she was REALLY so impressed by

  • Kim Wright appeared to take X-rated snap of marathon runner Abdelhadi El Harti
  • El Harti had wardrobe malfunction which exposed his genitals during the run
  • But Ms Wright, 35, said she was actually checking boyfriend's run in London

A woman who became the talk of the London Marathon after apparently realising she had taken an X-rated photo on her phone has revealed the real reason she looked so impressed.

Kim Wright, of Ramsgate, was pictured in the background staring at her phone open-mouthed as marathon runner Abelhadi El Harti jogged past her with his genitals exposed through his shorts.

It was presumed the 35-year-old had spotted the wardrobe malfunction in a picture on her phone.

But Ms Wright has now revealed she was actually excited because she was checking on her boyfriend’s marathon performance – and knew nothing about El Harti’s mishap.

Her boyfriend Simon Ballard was taking part in the race as part of Alfie’s Striders, a running club based in Ramsgate, Kent.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, she said: ‘I wish I could tell you that I'd snapped the runner and his bits but truth be told I didn't even notice they were hanging out!

‘I was busy checking my boyfriend's tracking app as he was running it yesterday and going for a good time. At that particular moment he must have been doing really well!’

It's not known how long El Harti ran for in this state but clearly he had other things on his mind as he completed the London Marathon.

El Harti finished second with a time of 2:29:38 in the ambulant class on Sunday - the category for runners who have a disability.

However, the Moroccan's impressive display this year will always be second-best to that still shot.

Alfie’s Striders raise money for the Alfie Gough Trust, a charity named after a child who died of rare cancer neuroblastoma.

The trust is focused on helping children suffering from the disease by raising money to support research into the cure.
