V.A. - 2013 Parquet Courts Mixtape

Last week I received a package forwarded from my old address, and inside was a mixtape from the guys in Parquet Courts. I'm guessing this is the same tape being sent out to fans who pre-order the band's new EP Tally All the Things That You Broke. It's rare these days that a band offers up something like this to their fans, and even more rare that they include a phone number to call. So go ahead and rock out then call up the band and tell them how fucking rad they are. I didn't need another reason to love Parquet Courts but now I just want to give them a big hug. As always, if you dig what you hear make sure you do some googling, buy some records and support the bands.

Electric Citizen - Self-Titled EP

Electric Citizen's debut release is coming next month in the form of a limited edition EP on 2x7" via The Crossing, with a cassette version coming soon from Breathe Plastic. One 7" features the 2 tracks from their demo I posted a few months back, with the other 7" containing two brand new tracks, all of which can be streamed below. If you're into Sabbath riffs, killer solos, and bellowing female vocals, I suggest pre-ordering a copy and catching them on their mini-tour with Heaven's Gateway Drugs and Haunted leather, which kicks off tonight in Fort Wayne, IN.

Thee Hugs - Drug Use & Alcohol Abuse

Thee Hugs are a rowdy drunken trio out of Brisbane that produces their own brand of grimy surf punk. Pick up a 40oz of the shittiest malt liquor you can find, put this one on full blast, and drink yourself into a toilet-hugging drunken stupor. 12" is out now on Queensland-based label Long Gone Records.

Wild Moth - Over, Again

I just finished a cross country move to Milwaukee and have spent every waking moment unpacking, drinking, and pissing off my neighbors by blasting Over, Again at peak volume. I fell in love with Wild Moth's Mourning Glow EP last year, and I had lofty expectations for their debut LP. Good sweet lord did these guys ever deliver. Wild Moth is a post-punk band in an era where "post punk" is so broadly defined the term has become essentially meaningless. Over, Again gives the sub-genre context and life again. It's the perfect fusion of raw energy and nuanced beauty. Over, Again is the sound of a bunch of punk rockers deciding to grow up and move forward instead of stagnating or quitting. This is the same concept that gave us Mission of Burma, Fugazi, Wire, and dozens of other great bands. If you're looking for an early contender for album of the year, this is it.

Check out Wild Moth on their current west coast tour and stream Over, Again below:

VIDEO: Lil Daggers - Jazz Tom

Miami's Lil Daggers have a new cassette coming on September 10th entitled No Pizza No Peace on Beyond Beyond is Beyond Records. It sounds as if the band has further perfected their brooding psychedelic garage sound on this 5 track EP. You can pre-order your copy over at bandcamp, and be sure to check out the first track while you're there. If you're not completely sold after hearing that one, I'm not sure what else I can do for you.
