This 2008 EP was posted over at Teenage Lobotomy a few days ago, and came highly recommended by a good friend. I've kept a close eye on all the bands on HoZac the last few years, but there's still a handful of that I had yet to hear. This L.A. duo being one of them. Side project of Erin from The Spits. Lo-fi synth post-punk/new wave. Really fucking good. 
Another solid release from this San Diego-based electronic artist. Nicely utilized and eclectic looping samples. Mature yet adolescent sound. Digests so easily that you might find yourself zoning out, but it posolutely deserves your full attention. Would make excellent elevator music. On par with his last release.
This release has been around for over a year now, but I just rediscovered it in a very poorly labeled folder ("b.i.t.u.s.a") on my harddrive and finally gave it the attention it deserves. Ex Raccoo-oo-oon members. Presumably influenced by the late- 80s/early-90s Japanese noise rock bands/artists such as Boredoms, The Gerogerigegege, or Keiji Haino, Pukers' "lo-fi tape trash jamming" is just as primitive and unsophisticated. Cassette features awesomely butchered covers of The Beatles' "Yesterday" and Springsteen's "Born In the USA".
I've been sitting on this one for a few months now. My apologies for holding it from you all for so long. Michael RJ Saalman (Woman Year) on guitar with some highly competent drum execution. A playful and epic duel between drum and guitar that sounds as if no direct contact is ever actually made. They accompany each other about as well as they avoid each other. Hella is the most obvious comparison, but the guitar work is a little more playful. Quite a few brilliant moments. Once again, courtesy of Life's Blood.
Monday Machines is the collaborative effort of UK-based singer/songwriter/producer Cary Grace and fellow WRIRer (although I've never met the man), Allan Coberly. Slow-burning British psychedlia-influenced rock. Strong vocals from Grace that lie somewhere between Broadcast and Jefferson Airplane. While recording his guitar contributions, Coberly battled constant noisy construction outside of his place here in Richmond, VA and decided to incorporate the men and machines causing the clanks, beeps, and jackhammering into their sound (and band name). Pick up the gorgeous limited edition gatefold CD (who knew you could still make CDs beautiful?) directly from the artist here.
Moon Pearl is the musical endeavor of Sam from Life's Blood Records. Animalistic lo-fi surf/kraut/post-punk. Totally digging this one. Put your tribal trance dance pants on.
Pretty bummed I'll be missing this guy @ Strange Matter this Saturday, but I have another show that requires my attendance. Using only effects pedals and a mixer, this dude creates some seriously hard-hitting music. Like if Lightning Bolt decided to start making trance/house. Not recommended for the faint of heart/ear. Shit's loud and will make you want to punch things.
A few assumption can be made from the name of this one man band. A) He's a Boris fan, and B) He has a lot of fat friends. After seeing the rest of his influences on his myspace page, it's also clear that he's partial to plenty of feedback. Sunn O))), Acid Mothers Temple, Spacemen 3, My Bloody Valentine, Keiji Haino. These are some absolutely mind-numbingly loud noise jams, and these three epic tracks will be receiving "heavy" rotation from myself and many of you. Big thanks to Takashi for the submission.
