Bowling for Soup (often typeset as ¡Bowling for Soup! and abbreviated as BFS) is an American rock band originally formed in Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1994. The band consists of Jaret Reddick (lead vocals, guitar), Chris Burney (guitar, backing vocals), Erik Chandler (bass, backing vocals), and Gary Wiseman (drums, percussion). The band is best known for their singles "Girl All the Bad Guys Want", "1985", "Almost", and "High School Never Ends". On April 8, 2013, Bowling for Soup announced that their last tour of the UK would take place in October of the same year. However, this does not appear to have been the case, as a UK "How About Another Round Tour" has been scheduled for February 2016.
Bowling for Soup has its origins in Wichita Falls, Texas, where Jaret Reddick (born March 6, 1972) and other members of the band grew up. Reddick and bassist Chris Burney (born May 25, 1969) knew each other in high school (they met in 1986), and as students in the 1980s, they grew up on the commercially successful heavy metal music of bands such as Quiet Riot, RATT, and Mötley Crüe, but were also influenced by the zippier punk rock of the Ramones and later Green Day. Burney owned a Wichita Falls coffeehouse "The Refuge," with a music stage and played there with his first band "The Persecuted", where he and Reddick met guitarist Erik Chandler (born December 22, 1974) and drummer Gary Wiseman (born January 6, 1979) in the early 1990s (although Wiseman did not come into the band until 1997).
The Space Shuttle was a partially reusable low Earth orbital spacecraft system operated by the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), as part of the Space Shuttle program. Its official program name was Space Transportation System (STS), taken from a 1969 plan for a system of reusable spacecraft of which it was the only item funded for development. The first of four orbital test flights occurred in 1981, leading to operational flights beginning in 1982. They were used on a total of 135 missions from 1981 to 2011, launched from the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. Operational missions launched numerous satellites, interplanetary probes, and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST); conducted science experiments in orbit; and participated in construction and servicing of the International Space Station. The Shuttle fleet's total mission time was 1322 days, 19 hours, 21 minutes and 23 seconds.
Shuttle components included the Orbiter Vehicle (OV), a pair of recoverable solid rocket boosters (SRBs), and the expendable external tank (ET) containing liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. The Shuttle was launched vertically, like a conventional rocket, with the two SRBs operating in parallel with the OV's three main engines, which were fueled from the ET. The SRBs were jettisoned before the vehicle reached orbit, and the ET was jettisoned just before orbit insertion, which used the orbiter's two Orbital Maneuvering System (OMS) engines. At the conclusion of the mission, the orbiter fired its OMS to de-orbit and re-enter the atmosphere. The orbiter then glided as a spaceplane to a runway landing, usually at the Shuttle Landing Facility of KSC or Rogers Dry Lake in Edwards Air Force Base, California. After landing at Edwards, the orbiter was flown back to the KSC on the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, a specially modified Boeing 747.
Passion Pit is an American indietronica band from Cambridge, Massachusetts, formed in 2007. The band consists solely of Michael Angelakos (lead vocals/keyboards), joined live by Chris Hartz (drums), Aaron Harrison Folb (bass/synthesizers), Giuliano Pizzulo (guitar/synthesizers), and Ray Suen (guitar/synthesizers).
The band released their debut album Manners in 2009. A follow up album entitled Gossamer was released in 2012, which debuted at No. 4 on Billboard 200 and gave the band their first top 10 album. Kindred, the band's third album, was released on April 17, 2015 and was preceded by lead singles "Lifted Up (1985)", "Where the Sky Hangs", and "Until We Can't (Let's Go)".
The band culled their name from the Variety Slanguage Dictionary, a glossary of Variety's frequently-used slang, which was provided by the Hollywood insider publication to help not-so-savvy readers decipher its content. The magazine used the term to refer to drive-in theatres, because of their privacy and romantic allure for teenagers.
"Lifted Up (1985)" is a song by American indietronica band Passion Pit from their third studio album, Kindred (2015). The song was written and produced by the band's frontman Michael Angelakos as well as Benjamin Levin (known as Benny Blanco) with Chris Zane and Alex Aldi providing co-production. It was released as the lead single from the album in February 2015. This song later will be used in Konami series of PES, Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 as 8th track.
Michael Angelakos wrote the song in gratitude for his wife for coming to him "at a point in my life where I really was pretty lost." She was born in 1985.
The song's music video features Angelakos alongside a crowd of partiers.
another night, said i have to calm down
another day, be another red light... yeahhh
i heard the sounds see i heard this on the one tell me
in my hand, whoaaaa-oh, your hand
and everytime we stop see you get a little fill its all over there
i know i know
i waited on the feelin' i waited all the time
i hate the sort of feeling when there's someone else in mind
and its the time for killing
by hearing all the time
drive me out of line (fashion), and i was color-blind
what do what i hear you say
maybe never want it see at all, noooooo
it sounds like a mind too empty findin' in my hand
whoaaa-oh your hand
and we got out just barely alive
ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh
i waited on the feelin' i waited all the time
i hate the sort of feeling when there's someone else in mind
and its the time for killing
by hearing all the time
another notice, out on the phone-line
(line clashes wonder what catches)
do you want to hang this, me on the clothes-line
(now im feeling... really such a fine time)
im glad i relate to you
glad im that glad im too
know i dont mind you
im keeping in mind
glad i relate to you
glad i resolve to you
