GKR: Heavy Hitters is a new board game up on Kickstarter. If you like robots and turn-based combat it might be worth a look, if only for the incredibly cool design of the game’s miniatures.
God, they are so good. And with good reason! GKR is the work of Weta, the creative studio behind movies like District 9 and Elysium, which explains why everything about this game, from the miniatures to the cards to the colour scheme looks shit hot.
GKR is a turn-based tactics game for 2-4 players, with the hooks being that each team consists of a single giant combat mech that’s supported by three smaller units, and that the core map is customisable, since you can move around skyscrapers to change the battlefield.
