Allan Holdsworth (born 6 August 1946) is a British guitarist and composer. He has released twelve studio albums as a solo artist and played a variety of musical styles spanning a period of more than four decades, but is best known for his work in jazz fusion.
Holdsworth is noted for his advanced knowledge of music, through which he incorporates a vast array of complex chord progressions and intricate solos; the latter comprising myriad scale forms often derived from those such as the diminished, augmented, whole tone, chromatic and altered scales, among others, resulting in an unpredictable and "off" sound. His unique legato soloing technique stems from his desire to originally play the saxophone, but having been unable to afford one he thus intentionally utilised the guitar in order to make it sound like a different instrument. He has also become associated with playing an early form of guitar synthesizer called the SynthAxe, a company which he endorsed in the 1980s.
Holdsworth has been cited as an influence by such renowned rock, metal and jazz guitarists as Eddie Van Halen,Joe Satriani,Greg Howe,Shawn Lane,Richie Kotzen,John Petrucci,Alex Lifeson,Kurt Rosenwinkel,Yngwie Malmsteen, and Michael Romeo.Frank Zappa once lauded him as "one of the most interesting guys on guitar on the planet".
Allan may refer to any one of the following:
Metal fatigue is the progressive and localized structural damage that occurs when a material is subjected to cyclic loadings.
Metal Fatigue may refer to:
Jimmy Haslip (born December 31, 1951 in Bronx/New York City) is an American electric bass player and record producer best known as a founding but ex-member of the pioneering fusion group Yellowjackets. He was also an early user of the 5-string electric bass.
Born in The Bronx to Puerto Rican immigrants, Spanish was Haslip's first language and learned to speak English in kindergarten. His father, Jaime Haslip served in the United States Customs Service, beginning as a Merchant Marine until moving to patrolman and eventually deputy commissioner.
Haslip moved to Huntington, New York when he was four years old, where he grew up. At age seven, Haslip began playing drums and moved onto other instruments such as trumpet and tuba until playing bass at age 15. Although he took music lessons and even went to a private music school, Haslip considers himself self-taught. Haslip has said that he went to a local music shop with his father and purchased a right-handed bass (Haslip is left-handed) and learned to play it upside down.
Gary Husband (born 14 June 1960) is an English jazz and rock drummer, pianist and bandleader. He is best known for his emotive and dynamic style on both his primary instruments, the keyboards and the drums. He is also a composer, arranger and producer and has released more than nine studio albums.
Husband is additionally renowned for his wide musical diversity, and aside from his solo career he is also active in many other areas of music.
He is a member of John McLaughlin's group The 4th Dimension, and also performs frequently with artists or Musical ensembles such as Germany's Norddeutscher Rundfunk Big Band, Billy Cobham's Spectrum 40, guitarist Allan Holdsworth or as a solo piano artist. As a Sideman/Session musician, Husband has also performed or recorded with Jeff Beck, Level 42, Robin Trower, Jack Bruce, Nguyên Lê, Lenny White, Randy Brecker, Soft Machine Legacy, Foley (musician), Al Jarreau, Hessischer Rundfunk Big Band, Sir George Martin, Quincy Jones, Andy Summers, Gary Moore, UK, Mike Stern, Jack DeJohnette, Tony Levin, Lincoln Goines, Jimmy Haslip among a great many others.

The final concert of the Allan Holdsworth Europe Chapter 2 tour in 2012. The rather anomalous venue is the Montemartini Museum in central Rome. As eccentric as the setting may seem, it does provide artistic inspiration. The acoustics are quite something to contemplate, as you can only imagine the 'generous' ambience the room provide. And, adding to our auditory challenges, problems with the 8 track recording from the night, meant we had to resort to the 'back up' stereo room mix. Hopefully this still captures the essence of the performance and will suffice for web purposes.

When I look at the edge
Oh it scares me.
Though I know I'll go,
always go back.
If there was somewhere to go,
my boat wasn't holed on the reef.
And my lack of belief
in the truth I am seeing...
To you I'll tie
my inner eye
which never, ever
ever lies.
Leave behind
to seek
and find
within
the things
you see.
