David Baker - Deputy Editor

After completing what he realised was a pretty pointless politics degree David lined up work experience in a number of different industries, in his native London, to find his niche.

With a news room the first placement in line, he never made it to the law firm or bank he had intended to 'try out' after falling in love with journalism (whether he found his niche or not is still debatable.)

He successfully applied and won a scholarship with the Press Association, where he was trained before being given a job at a regional newspaper in London.

During a six-year spell at the paper he had stints as a senior journalist, court reporter and sports editor, before moving on to "Fleet Street" and the Daily Mail Online.

After more than a year at the Mail David moved to Perth where he has lived since late 2012.

A short stint as a finance broker in WA (definitely not his niche!) followed the move before he joined WAtoday as a producer in 2014.

As a journalist David has covered everything from general elections, terror attacks and the Olympics to cats stuck up trees, Jesus-shaped vegetables and Kim Kardashian.

He's passionate about sports, less so about Sizzler.
