City Bound: the daily commute into London from the suburbs in 1941. Life went on 'as normal' during the Blitz - work, travel and social life during WW2 in London, with gas masks and helmets as part of the norm. Great London scenery during the 1940's, people going to work, catching trains and buses. "Each morning five million people are moved from home to work by London's transport system". On 27 September 1940 a census found that 177,500 Londoners were sleeping in Tube stations, so they installed bunk beds. We're making a film about World War II right here in East Anglia! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/paulcook/magpie Please support Magpie and help us to remember the stories of the East of England during WWII. For one of our last projects in my Senor BFA class at San Jose State; we were asked to read some short stories by Italo Calvino. I chose The Adventure of a Soldier that evolved a soldier on a train and a very voluminous widow. The widow ends up sitting next to him on the train and the soldier finds that his hand is touching her thigh. The rest gets a bet risky so I'll let you read the story on your own. I wanted to create a 1940's widow but also study Chris Sanders and his shape language in his art and translate that into 3D. After a few quick studies I concepted out my widow, did some quick color passes and then went straight into zbrush. She has a decent rig on her and has nCloth for the lower part of her dress. Being relatively new to nCloth did not help, and I probably wouldn't use it...

Something's wrong when you regret
Things that haven't happened yet
But it's a glorious day when morning comes
Without that feeling of alarm
So rise and shine
Now's the time to be alive
To stay awake and be with me a while
And smile
You couldn't sleep for the awful fright
That kept you up in bed last night
While curious shapes shift in the dark
They vanish with the sunlight spark
So rise and shine
Now's the time to be alive
To stay awake with me a while
And smile
So rise and shine
Now's the time to be alive
To stay awake with me a while
So rise and shine
Now's the time to be alive
To stay awake with me a while
