Sure, it's not cold by many people's standards - feel sorry for the Canberrans, with an overnight minimum of zero degrees - but it will be the coldest night Brisbane has experienced in eight months.

Last time the mercury in the river city dropped to 10 degrees or lower was on August 28, 2016, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

Bureau forecaster Lauren Pattie also said the overnight low was below the average for Brisbane in April, which was 16 degrees.

"So far Brisbane has been right on average (maximum daily temperature), but the next couple of days are expected to be a bit cooler," Ms Pattie said.

The average maximum for Brisbane in April is 26 degrees at Brisbane Airport and 27 degrees in Brisbane city.

Friday's forecast maximum was 25 degrees, rising to 26 degrees on Saturday and returning to 25 degrees on Sunday.

"We had that frontal system move through the area (on Wednesday), and behind that was a cool dry air mass which is what is leading to cooler temperatures," Ms Pattie said.

"On Thursday, Friday, even into the weekend we're expecting to see cooler temperatures.

"Monday will be a little cool, but with the south-easterly flow there is a chance of seeing showers about the coast."
