Theresa May has said that Donald Trump was "actually being a gentleman" when he held her hand during a visit to the US earlier this year.
The Prime Minister has become the first British Prime Minister to pose for the fashion magazine American Vogue.
Earlier this year Mr Trump marked the start of their "special relationship" by taking her hand as he guided Mrs May down a slope at the White House.
During an interview with the magazine she said she would "like to think" she "got on" with the US president during a trip to the White House in January.
Mrs May told Vogue: "I like to think we got on. I mean, obviously he has, uh . . . it was a stunning election victory, in that he's someone who has not been involved in politics."
Asked about the hand holding, she said: "I think he was actually being a gentleman," May says, laughing off this gesture. "We were about to walk down a ramp, and he said it might be a bit awkward."
The photographs, which are taken at the Prime Minister's Chequers country residence, include a personal image of Mrs May walking alongside her husband Philip.
Mrs May is captured in a navy blue LK Bennett coat and dress by the portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz, in a feature for the April edition.
Quizzed on the Vivienne Westwood tartan suit she wore to launch her leadership bid in June, she joked: "People have described it as a lucky suit. I think I'm going to stop wearing it now."
When asked if she was surprised by the row she provoked over a $1595 pair of leather trousers she wore during a newspaper interview, she said: "Look, throughout my political career, people have commented on what I wear.
"That's just something that happens, and you accept that. But it doesn't stop me from going out and enjoying fashion.
"And I also think it's important to be able to show that a woman can do a job like this and still be interested in clothes."
