MEMPHIS, Tenn. — “You`re a n*****.”
A racist rant was recorded and plastered on the internet for all to hear.
“Go back to Africa, n*****.”
“Do you know who you`re talking to? Do you know who you`re talking to?” the voice said.
The recording is reportedly of a prominent Memphis couple who were on the phone with a restaurant employee in the Turks and Caicos trying to retrieve the woman’s phone.
“I want my wife`s phone back.”
“No one has your phone here, buddy,” someone responded.
No one answered at the couple’s home, but businesses they’ve been associated with have been quick to denounce the language in the recording.
The Memphis Chamber of Commerce called it a “despicable act by a despicable person.”
“This recording shows a despicable act by a despicable person. Anybody who makes a statement like this is not eligible for employment with the Greater Memphis Chamber. Anyone who engages in conversation like this would be terminated from the Chamber.”
Loeb properties also condemned it saying, “Loeb properties strongly condemns the language and sentiment of the reprehensible recording that has been widely distributed in the press. The individuals involved are in now way associated with Loeb properties.”
“This is deplorable and it`s sad. It`s sick.”
Dr. Bill Adkins, who marched in the civil rights era, had no shortage of words for the people heard using the “n” word over and over again.
“An ‘I`m sorry’ won`t get it. I think there needs to be some explanation of why this racist rant went on so long.”
The couple’s attorney released this statement to WREG:
A “news” story has made its way from Turks & Caicos to Memphis. It is a story that is false in many respects but it is now garnering such attention here that it simply cannot be ignored or go without a response given how it threatens the reputations and privacy of people who are now about to be victimized twice.
I represent Ms. Loeb and her husband. Ms. Loeb’s phone was stolen while she and her husband were at a restaurant in Turks & Caicos. That is true. Her phone was never returned to her. That is false. The fact that the “leaked” recording shows a picture of Ms. Loeb’s phone makes clear that the people who released the alleged recorded call still had the phone they stole. Given their willingness to lie about what they did with the phone, everything else they claim occurred must also be doubted.
After Ms. Loeb’s phone was stolen, she shared that fact on her social media account and asked her online friends to negatively review the restaurant in question. Apparently that did not go over well with someone who worked at that restaurant because they’ve now gone to great lengths to attempt to defame Ms. Loeb and her husband.
For the record, Ms. Loeb and her husband were certainly not doing drugs during their time in Turks & Caicos and the conversation that is being claimed to occur is faked in many respects as neither of them would use the terms or speak in the manner portrayed.
WREG called the restaurant, but they refused to shed any more light on this.

Is there a risk in giving away your best work for free? Of course. Giving away awesome work for free has been my gateway drug to so many great opportunities. But best work needs to be defined for the category you're in. I'm blown away by the amount of people who don't realize that their best advice is exactly what you should give away for free. But if you're a painter, and your best work is the most amazing painting you ever made, and you give it away for free, that's maybe a different game. But maybe you strategically gave it away. Like to an important museum, maybe. Or to a billionaire that puts in a prime spot in that home, could that then become the gateway to more?
The problem with this debate is that when you are doing something for free, it needs to be strategic. Because what you are looking to do by giving away something for free is create leverage to then do something that is not for free, right? Right. DRock could have made that first video for someone who is not me, and it might not have panned out the same. He might not have received that ROI that he got for doing a video for free for me.
I think that people look at this too much as a blanket statement. For me, everything I give away for free has strategic purpose. I understand WHY I'm doing it, and that's why it becomes so much easier to do, even though I don't always expect an outcome from that action. That becomes the big part of this. Way too many people do stuff for free and that expect this windfall behind it. Then when it's not delivered, they become disappointed; and in that disappointment, they don't follow up, they don't try it again. They don't repeat that action over and over, which actually has more upside than anything else.
Three out of five times it will bring you some kind of value. Don't focus on the two out of five.

Chamber of commerce
A chamber of commerce (or board of trade) is a form of business network, for example, a local organization of businesses whose goal is to further the interests of businesses. Business owners in towns and cities form these local societies to advocate on behalf of the business community. Local businesses are members, and they elect a board of directors or executive council to set policy for the chamber. The board or council then hires a President, CEO or Executive Director, plus staffing appropriate to size, to run the organization.
The first chamber of commerce was founded in 1599 in Marseille, France. Another official chamber of commerce would follow 65 years later, probably in Bruges, then part of the Spanish Netherlands.
The world's oldest English-speaking chamber of commerce, in New York City, dates from 1768. The oldest known existing chamber in the English-speaking world with continuous records, the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, was founded in 1783. However, Hull Chamber of Commerce is the UK's oldest, followed by those of Leeds and of Belfast in Northern Ireland.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — “You`re a n*****.” A racist rant was recorded and plastered on the internet for all to hear. “Go back to Africa, n*****.” “Do you know who you`re talking to? Do you know who you`re talking to?” the voice said. A racist rant was recorded and plastered on the internet for all to hear.
“Go back to Africa, n*****.”
“Do you know who you`re talking to? Do you know who you`re talking to?” the voice said.
The recording is reportedly of a prominent Memphis couple who were on the phone with a restaurant employee in the Turks and Caicos trying to retrieve the woman’s phone.
“I want my wife`s phone back.”
“No one has your phone here, buddy,” someone responded.
No one answered at the couple’s home, but businesses they’ve been associated with have been quick to denounce the language in the recording.
The Memphis Chamber of Commerce called it a “despicable act by a despicable person.”
“This recording shows a despicable act by a despicable person. Anybody who makes a statement like this is not eligible for employment with the Greater Memphis Chamber. Anyone who engages in conversation like this would be terminated from the Chamber.”
Loeb properties also condemned it saying, “Loeb properties strongly condemns the language and sentiment of the reprehensible recording that has been widely distributed in the press. The individuals involved are in now way associated with Loeb properties.”
“This is deplorable and it`s sad. It`s sick.”
Dr. Bill Adkins, who marched in the civil rights era, had no shortage of words for the people heard using the “n” word over and over again.
“An ‘I`m sorry’ won`t get it. I think there needs to be some explanation of why this racist rant went on so long.”
The couple’s attorney released this statement to WREG:
A “news” story has made its way from Turks & Caicos to Memphis. It is a story that is false in many respects but it is now garnering such attention here that it simply cannot be ignored or go without a response given how it threatens the reputations and privacy of people who are now about to be victimized twice.
I represent Ms. Loeb and her husband. Ms. Loeb’s phone was stolen while she and her husband were at a restaurant in Turks & Caicos. That is true. Her phone was never returned to her. That is false. The fact that the “leaked” recording shows a picture of Ms. Loeb’s phone makes clear that the people who released the alleged recorded call still had the phone they stole. Given their willingness to lie about what they did with the phone, everything else they claim occurred must also be doubted.
After Ms. Loeb’s phone was stolen, she shared that fact on her social media account and asked her online friends to negatively review the restaurant in question. Apparently that did not go over well with someone who worked at that restaurant because they’ve now gone to great lengths to attempt to defame Ms. Loeb and her husband.
For the record, Ms. Loeb and her husband were certainly not doing drugs during their time in Turks & Caicos and the conversation that is being claimed to occur is faked in many respects as neither of them would use the terms or speak in the manner portrayed.
WREG called the restaurant, but they refused to shed any more light on this.

Is there a risk in giving away your best work for free? Of course. Giving away awesome work for free has been my gateway drug to so many great opportunities. But best work needs to be defined for the category you're in. I'm blown away by the amount of people who don't realize that their best advice is exactly what you should give away for free. But if you're a painter, and your best work is the most amazing painting you ever made, and you give it away for free, that's maybe a different game. But maybe you strategically gave it away. Like to an important museum, maybe. Or to a billionaire that puts in a prime spot in that home, could that then become the gateway to more?
The problem with this debate is that when you are doing something for free, it needs to be strategic. Because what you are looking to do by giving away something for free is create leverage to then do something that is not for free, right? Right. DRock could have made that first video for someone who is not me, and it might not have panned out the same. He might not have received that ROI that he got for doing a video for free for me.
I think that people look at this too much as a blanket statement. For me, everything I give away for free has strategic purpose. I understand WHY I'm doing it, and that's why it becomes so much easier to do, even though I don't always expect an outcome from that action. That becomes the big part of this. Way too many people do stuff for free and that expect this windfall behind it. Then when it's not delivered, they become disappointed; and in that disappointment, they don't follow up, they don't try it again. They don't repeat that action over and over, which actually has more upside than anything else.
Three out of five times it will bring you some kind of value. Don't focus on the two out of five.

The recording is reportedly of a prominent Memphis couple who were on the phone with a restaurant employee in the Turks and Caicos trying to retrieve the woman’s phone.
“I want my wife`s phone back.”
“No one has your phone here, buddy,” someone responded.
No one answered at the couple’s home, but businesses they’ve been associated with have been quick to denounce the language in the recording.
The Memphis Chamber of Commerce called it a “despicable act by a despicable person.”
“This recording shows a despicable act by a despicable person. Anybody who makes a statement like this is not eligible for employment with the Greater Memphis Chamber. Anyone who engages in conversation like this would be terminated from the Chamber.”
Loeb properties also condemned it saying, “Loeb properties strongly condemns the language and sentiment of the reprehensible recording that has been widely distributed in the press. The individuals involved are in now way associated with Loeb properties.”
“This is deplorable and it`s sad. It`s sick.”
Dr. Bill Adkins, who marched in the civil rights era, had no shortage of words for the people heard using the “n” word over and over again.
“An ‘I`m sorry’ won`t get it. I think there needs to be some explanation of why this racist rant went on so long.”
The couple’s attorney released this statement to WREG:
A “news” story has made its way from Turks & Caicos to Memphis. It is a story that is false in many respects but it is now garnering such attention here that it simply cannot be ignored or go without a response given how it threatens the reputations and privacy of people who are now about to be victimized twice.
I represent Ms. Loeb and her husband. Ms. Loeb’s phone was stolen while she and her husband were at a restaurant in Turks & Caicos. That is true. Her phone was never returned to her. That is false. The fact that the “leaked” recording shows a picture of Ms. Loeb’s phone makes clear that the people who released the alleged recorded call still had the phone they stole. Given their willingness to lie about what they did with the phone, everything else they claim occurred must also be doubted.
After Ms. Loeb’s phone was stolen, she shared that fact on her social media account and asked her online friends to negatively review the restaurant in question. Apparently that did not go over well with someone who worked at that restaurant because they’ve now gone to great lengths to attempt to defame Ms. Loeb and her husband.
For the record, Ms. Loeb and her husband were certainly not doing drugs during their time in Turks & Caicos and the conversation that is being claimed to occur is faked in many respects as neither of them would use the terms or speak in the manner portrayed.
WREG called the restaurant, but they refused to shed any more light on this.

Is there a risk in giving away your best work for free? Of course. Giving away awesome work for free has been my gateway drug to so many great opportunities. But best work needs to be defined for the category you're in. I'm blown away by the amount of people who don't realize that their best advice is exactly what you should give away for free. But if you're a painter, and your best work is the most amazing painting you ever made, and you give it away for free, that's maybe a different game. But maybe you strategically gave it away. Like to an important museum, maybe. Or to a billionaire that puts in a prime spot in that home, could that then become the gateway to more?
The problem with this debate is that when you are doing something for free, it needs to be strategic. Because what you are looking to do by giving away something for free is create leverage to then do something that is not for free, right? Right. DRock could have made that first video for someone who is not me, and it might not have panned out the same. He might not have received that ROI that he got for doing a video for free for me.
I think that people look at this too much as a blanket statement. For me, everything I give away for free has strategic purpose. I understand WHY I'm doing it, and that's why it becomes so much easier to do, even though I don't always expect an outcome from that action. That becomes the big part of this. Way too many people do stuff for free and that expect this windfall behind it. Then when it's not delivered, they become disappointed; and in that disappointment, they don't follow up, they don't try it again. They don't repeat that action over and over, which actually has more upside than anything else.
Three out of five times it will bring you some kind of value. Don't focus on the two out of five.
