The Anacostia Community Museum is the Smithsonian Institution's cultural anchor bringing the museum experience to communities east of the Anacostia River and urban communities around the world. The museum has a rich cultural texture, demonstrated through the design of the building to its changing exhibitions. The Anacostia Community Museum is located in historic Fort Stanton Park, a community rich in cultural history and near the home of the storied abolitionist, Frederick Douglass. The neighborhood has some of the most beautiful views of the city, sitting high above the rest of the District.

With its many educational programs and special events, the museum has been called, "one of Washington, D.C.'s hidden treasures." Located on the scenic Fort Stanton parklands with wonderful picnic areas, the museum is adjacent to Fort Stanton Recreation Center which has a pool, tennis and basketball courts, a baseball field, and a recreation room. ACM provides free parking and is accessible by public transportation. For more information on public transportation and directions, please click here.

The Anacostia Community Museum is the perfect venue for your next event. With a variety of spaces to choose from, the museum can accommodate 20–150 guests. ACM's special event spaces include a community program room, lobby, galleries, and an outdoor terrace. Upon request, the museum will provide a list of caterers and other resources that work closely with the Smithsonian and are familiar with institutional procedures and guidelines.
