While diving with Coast Watch Alliance in the last Gulf Coast Lionfish Coalition derby in Pensacola, FL we came across a reef that had a high density of lionfish present. We determined that this site was in fact an upside down sunken Airplane. In the northern Gulf of Mexico we see some of the highest densities of lionfish reported. Due to lack of air and bottom time we needed to return on a different day. our combined total was more than 200 lionfish and there were still a number of lionfish that could not be reached and will need to removed on the next visit.

Jacksonville is the most populous city in Florida, and the largest city by area in the contiguous United States. A peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida, it has the longest coastline in the contiguous United States, approximately 1,350 miles (2,170 km), and is the only state that borders both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Much of the state is at or near sea level and is characterized by sedimentary soil. The climate varies from subtropical in the north to tropical in the south. The American alligator, American crocodile, Florida panther, and manatee can be found in the Everglades National Park.

Pensacola, Florida
Pensacola (/ˌpɛnsəˈkoʊlə/) is the westernmost city in the Florida Panhandle and the county seat of Escambia County, Florida, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 51,923, down from 56,255 at the 2000 census. Pensacola is the principal city of the Pensacola metropolitan area, which had an estimated 461,227 residents in 2012.
Pensacola is a sea port on Pensacola Bay, which is protected by the barrier island of Santa Rosa and connects to the Gulf of Mexico. A large United States Naval Air Station, the first in the United States, is located southwest of Pensacola near Warrington; it is the base of the Blue Angels flight demonstration team and the National Naval Aviation Museum. The main campus of the University of West Florida is situated north of the city center.
The area was originally inhabited by Muskogean peoples. The Pensacola people lived there at the time of European contact, and Creek people frequently visited and traded from present-day southern Alabama. Spanish explorer Tristán de Luna founded a short-lived settlement in 1559. In 1698 the Spanish established a presidio in the area, from which the modern city gradually developed. The area changed hands several times as European powers competed in North America. During Florida's British rule (1763–1789), fortifications were strengthened.

Pensacola Beach, Florida
Pensacola Beach is an unincorporated community located on Santa Rosa Island, a barrier island, in Escambia County, Florida, United States. It is situated south of Pensacola (and Gulf Breeze connected via bridges spanning to the Fairpoint Peninsula and then to the island) in the Gulf of Mexico. As of the 2000 census, the community had a total population of 2,738. Pensacola Beach occupies land bound by a 1947 deed from the United States Department of Interior that it be administered in the public interest by the county or leased, but never "disposed"; its businesses and residents are thus long-term leaseholders and not property owners.
Pensacola Beach is part of the Pensacola–Ferry Pass–Brent Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Escambia County and Santa Rosa counties.
History
Francisco Maldonado, a lieutenant under Conquistador Hernando de Soto, visited the area during the early Spanish exploration of North America. He anchored in Pensacola Bay for the winter of 1539–1540.

Lionfish Airplane; Pensacola Florida, Gulf of Mexico
October 11, 2014 While diving with Coast Watch Alliance in the last Gulf Coast Lionfish Coalition derby in Pensacola, FL we came across a reef that had a high density of lionfish present. We determined that this site was in fact an upside down sunken Airplane. In the northern Gulf of Mexico we see some of the highest densities of lionfish reported. Due to lack of air and bottom time we needed to return on a different day. our combined total was more than 200 lionfish and there were still a number of lionfish that could not be reached and will need to removed on the next visit. While diving with Coast Watch Alliance in the last Gulf Coast Lionfish Coalition derby in Pensacola, FL we came across a reef that had a high density of lionfish present. We determined that this site was in fact an upside down sunken Airplane. In the northern Gulf of Mexico we see some of the highest densities of lionfish reported. Due to lack of air and bottom time we needed to return on a different day. our combined total was more than 200 lionfish and there were still a number of lionfish that could not be reached and will need to removed on the next visit.

Orlando was founded in 1875 as an agricultural distribution centre and today the biggest entertainment parks in the world are located there and attended by almost forty three million visitors each year. On the east coast of the Florida Peninsula, Cape Canaveral juts out into the Atlantic As far back as 1949 the ‘Rocket Trials Zone’, as it was then known, was built within an area that has been further developed and extended to become the world famous Space Station it is today. Pat is a RN with 37 years of experience and decided to try travel nursing later in life after her children grew up and left her home. Pat applied for a travel nurse job with American Traveler and loved the entire experience, plus she took her husband along. Chelsey is a young RN from Georgia; she met several new friends while travel nursing and even tried sushi for the first time! She said "we don’t have sushi in Georgia!"

Chelsey, RN, American Traveler: When I first decided to be a travel nurse, so I just started surfing the web, filled out the application online and a consultant contacted me within a day and we took it from there and it was love at first site with American Traveler.
Kelly, Recruiter: I have a lot of travel nurses that are currently working for me all throughout the United States. I have a lot in Arizona, California, Wisconsin. I have one going to Maine, a lot in Florida. We do become very, very close to them. You almost become an extension of their family.
Chelsey, RN, Travel Nurse: My recruiter has been great. I can call her at any time and she's there for me to answer my question, to calm me down if I'm nervous about a new job. It's been excellent.
Kelly, Recruiter: You know, one of the best benefits of travel nursing is being able to have that kind of profession that we can travel the country and see it and experience new places, new people, new hospitals.
Chelsey, RN, American Traveler: I met a lot of my new friends just from day one orientation with the hospital. They have become my tour guides so they take me out on, you know, a little exploratory places. I had sushi for the first time. We don't have sushi in Georgia.
Pat, RN, Travel Nurse: I am a registered nurse and I have been one for 37 years. As a mother of six children, they all just thought, you know, the Baby Boomer hippie had to come out of you, so I'm ready proud of you that you decided to do this and go see parts of the country.
Brandy, Recruiter: We provide the traveler with a fully furnished, private one bedroom, one bath apartment.
Michelle, Housing Coordinator: And these complexes have um, luxury pools with Jacuzzi, 24-hour fitness centers, 24-hour business centers.
Pat, RN American Traveler: I would highly recommend American Traveler to anyone who is even thinking of becoming a travel nurse. They'll, they'll work with you. Try to place you where you want to be and it's a wonderful way to use your profession and get to see other parts of the country.

Sanibel Island and adjoining Captiva Island are two gorgeous Gulf of Mexico islands in South Florida. Apparently Frommer’s Travel Guide ranked Sanibel Island the #1 top tourist destination in 2011.
This week I went there to celebrate my birthday (one of those big ones) with Scott, Camille and John.
After a week-long drought, of course it had to be that weekend that a huge storm came through. So the beginning of the weekend turned out to be a little bit different than expected - but then there was a double-rainbow and the sun came back out.
In any case we saw plenty of the promised "15 miles of unspoiled beaches, 22 miles of bike paths, 50 types of fish, 230 types of birds, 250 types of shells and 0 stop lights".
As the grand finale (we were just about to drive to the airport) we even saw a wild alligator!
There's a lot missing in this video: from dancing into my birthday at midnight while keeping an eye on the surf and a lighting storm adding the appropriate light show to delicious birthday cakes at The Bubble Room + dinner at the Sunset Grill (yes, literally) and much in-between. This was definitely my best birthday (at least since my 4th when I got my first red bicycle).

Lionfish Airplane; Pensacola Florida, Gulf of Mexico
October 11, 2014 While diving with Coast Watch Alliance in the last Gulf Coast Lionfish Coalition derby in Pensacola, FL we came across a reef that had a high density of lionfish present. We determined that this site was in fact an upside down sunken Airplane. In the northern Gulf of Mexico we see some of the highest densities of lionfish reported. Due to lack of air and bottom time we needed to return on a different day. our combined total was more than 200 lionfish and there were still a number of lionfish that could not be reached and will need to removed on the next visit. While diving with Coast Watch Alliance in the last Gulf Coast Lionfish Coalition derby in Pensacola, FL we came across a reef that had a high density of lionfish present. We determined that this site was in fact an upside down sunken Airplane. In the northern Gulf of Mexico we see some of the highest densities of lionfish reported. Due to lack of air and bottom time we needed to return on a different day. our combined total was more than 200 lionfish and there were still a number of lionfish that could not be reached and will need to removed on the next visit.
