AU VIC: Man Claiming to be Hire Car Driver Gives Woman Ride, Robs Her January 22
Victoria Police are on the hunt for a man wanted in relation to a robbery and assault of a woman on January 22 around Epping and Bundoora. Police said a woman was walking along Miller Street in Epping when a car pulled up. The driver claimed he was a hire car driver and offered to give the woman a ride home in exchange for payment. He dropped her at an ATM at a nearby shopping centre and, as she was withdrawing cash, the driver came up behind behind her before they both got back in the car. After dropping her off at Bundoora, the driver followed her the rest of the way home and demanded more money before assaulting her and stealing her handbag. The man drove off and the victim?s credit card later was used at least three times ? once at a Somerton service station at 4.45 am, a fast food outlet at Mooroolbark at about 8.55 am, and a Coborg North bottle shop at 11.15 am. The CCTV footage released by police shows a person of interest in Epping, approaching the woman as she withdraws money from the ATM. Credit: Victoria Police via Storyful
