Un remake es como una ironía. Pensar dos veces. Creo que los remakes siempre me han interesado porque soy gallego… La ironía son los átomos que conforman mi lenguaje. El cine es tan joven que los remakes están en prácticas. La evolución de este tipo de películas depende de la distancia con el material original. Al igual que las restauraciones de edificios o de obras de arte, en este tipo de operaciones existen modas, manías, necesidades… Para restaurar esta película porno y de culto de los años 80, barajamos varias posibilidades, y al final decidimos optar por la más sencilla, tal y como lo harían los creadores originales. Nuestra intención era hacer una peli musical, una ópera rock porno. Cuarenta minutos para ser disfrutados al máximo volumen. Lo importante era no perder el espíritu, acercar al ámbito contemporáneo el conflicto y ofrecer el grado necesario de nostalgia. Creemos que ha quedado un homenaje bastante carca al porno de los años 80… La trama nos sitúa cerca del momento de cierre del café. Al final resulta que la crisis llega incluso hasta a los puticlubs más distópicos. En el treinta aniversario de la película, nos gustaría que os sintieseis como si estuvierais sentados en el mismísimo Cafe Flesh, a punto de masturbaros en la cantina de Star Wars o en un concierto de la banda que Bowie dejó olvidada en el planeta de Ziggy Stardust. Irony is the atoms that conform my language. Cinema is so young that remakes are still in a break-in period. The evolution of this kind of movies depends on the distance from the original material. Just as it happens with building or fine art restoration, in this kind of operations there are hypes, obsessions, needs... We considered different options when restoring this porn cult movie from the 80's, and in the end we opted for the simplest one, the way the original authors would. Our intention was to make a musical, a porn rock-opera. Forty minutes to be enjoyed on full blast. It was most important not to miss the spirit, making the conflict more contemporary with the necessary touch of nostalgia. We think that the result is quite an old-fashioned homage to porn movies from the 80's... The plot takes place near the closing down of the café. In the end, crisis hits even the most distopic joints. In the 30th aniversary of the movie we would love that you feel like if you were at Café Flesh itself, or in the verge of jerking off at the Star Wars cantina or at a gig by the band Bowie left stranded at Ziggy Stardust's planet.
