Stewart Armstrong Copeland (born July 16, 1952) is an American musician, multi-instrumentalist and composer best known as the drummer for the English rock band The Police and for his film music soundtracks. He has also written various pieces of music for ballet, opera and orchestra. According to MusicRadar, Copeland’s "distinctive drum sound and uniqueness of style has made him one of the most popular drummers to ever get behind a drumset". He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Police in 2003 and the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2005.
Stewart Armstrong Copeland was born in Alexandria, Virginia on July 16, 1952, the youngest of four children of CIA officer Miles Copeland, Jr. and Scottish archaeologist Lorraine Adie. The family moved to Cairo, Egypt, a few months after his birth, and Copeland spent his formative years in the Middle East. In 1957, the family moved to Beirut, Lebanon, and Copeland attended the American Community School there. He started taking drum lessons at age twelve and was playing drums for school dances within a year. Later he moved to England and attended Millfield from 1967 to 1969. Copeland went to college in California, attending United States International University and UC Berkeley. Returning to England, he worked as road manager for the progressive rock band Curved Air's 1974 reunion tour, and then as drummer for the band during 1975 and 1976.

I don't own the rights to any part of this video, including footage and music. I'm only posting as a fan and nothing more. Not for money or any other personal gain. Stewart Copeland interview from Later With Bob Costas (1990) This is Part One. Look at my other videos for Parts Two & Three. I was going through a big box of old vhs tapes and found this. Sorry for the tracking problem at the top of the video. At least it's not on their faces.

Sit down chat with The Police legend Stewart Copeland about his self directed/produced rockumentary Everyone Stares: The Police Inside Out.
In 1968 Roger Smith ate a peach during a break from work. When he was finished he took out a pocketknife and began carving the peach pit into a tiny pig. 43 years later the retired meter reader and cattle rancher from Culloeka, Tennessee has carved hundreds of peach seeds into hummingbirds, stingrays, gospel choirs, entire villages, even a baseball stadium with 100+ figures. “Given enough time,” says Smith, “I don’t think there is anything you can’t make out of a peach seed.” Roger Smith’s unique art, inspiring talent, and fascinating life are the subject of a short (11 minute) documentary by filmmaker Stewart Copeland. The explores Smith’s process as well as his inspirations and presents a thoughtful portrait of a self-taught artist who’s distinctive art is as much a part of his rural So...

Composer, bassist, and producer Stanley Clarke has been an innovator in the game for over four decades. He's backed and recorded music the prolific musicians from George Duke to Chick Corea. In between time he's also produced and composed music from critically-acclaimed movies like "Passenger 57," "Boyz-N-The Hood," and "Higher Learning." Mr. Clarke is back with a brand new record, "Up," on Mack Avenue Records featuring guest artists Chick Corea, Stewart Copeland, and the Harlem String Quartet. This new album also treads some of Stanley's musical roots. He re-recorded his landmark "School Days" in which became a staple for all bass players worldwide. He also pays tribute to his dear friend, the late, George Duke. Stanley's currently on the road with a new band that features Mark Mitchel...

When I was young I was a fool
I was somebody else's tool
I was at the mercy of my so-called friends
You never saw a joke like me
I was as dumb as I could be
If I could go back to my school
I'd show 'em how I broke the rules
I'd show 'em all my wordly cool
One day I fell out of the pack
I felt like Yasser Arafat
It was a close shave but I skipped that trap
And now I've done some growing up
I ain't the same old buttercup
If I could go back to my school
I'd show 'em all my worldly cool
I never dared to take a chance
I never asked a girl to dance
And all my dreams were out of reach
And when the girls came out to play
I never had a thing to say
And all my dreams were out of reach
I never thought to disobey
Not like I always do today
If I could go back to my school
