The Tonight Show is an American late-night talk show broadcast from the Rockefeller Center in New York City and airing on NBC since 1954. It is the world's longest-running talk show, and the longest running, regularly scheduled entertainment program in the United States. It is the third-longest-running show on NBC, after only the news-and-talk shows Today and Meet the Press.
Over the course of more than 60 years, The Tonight Show has undergone only minor title changes. It aired under the name Tonight for several of its early years, eventually settling on The Tonight Show after the seating of long-time host Johnny Carson in 1962. In later decades, network programmers, advertisers, and the show's announcers would refer to the show by including the name of the host; for example, it is currently announced as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In 1957, the show briefly tried a more news-style format. It has otherwise remained a talk show throughout its run.
The Tonight Show began broadcasting in 1954. It has had six official hosts, beginning with Steve Allen (1954–57), followed by Jack Paar (1957–62), Johnny Carson (1962–92), Jay Leno (1992–2009, 2010–14), Conan O'Brien (2009–10), and Jimmy Fallon (2014–present). It has had several recurring guest hosts, a practice especially common during the Paar and Carson eras.
A party is a gathering of people who have been invited by a host for the purposes of socializing, conversation, recreation, or as part of a festival or other commemoration of a special occasion. A party will typically feature food and beverages, and often music and dancing or other forms of entertainment. In many Western countries, parties for teens and adults are associated with drinking alcohol such as beer, wine or distilled spirits.
Some parties are held in honor of a specific person, day, or event, such as a birthday party, a Super Bowl party, or a St. Patrick’s Day party. Parties of this kind are often called celebrations. A party is not necessarily a private occasion. Public parties are sometimes held in restaurants, pubs, beer gardens, nightclubs or bars, and people attending such parties may be charged an admission fee by the host. Large parties in public streets may celebrate events such as Mardi Gras or the signing of a peace treaty ending a long war.
Thomas Charles MacArthur (born October 16, 1960) is an American businessman and politician. He served as the mayor of Randolph, New Jersey, and is the member of the United States House of Representatives for New Jersey's 3rd congressional district. He is a member of the Republican Party.
MacArthur grew up in Hebron, Connecticut. He received his bachelor's degree from Hofstra University. MacArthur worked in the insurance industry. He was chairman and chief executive officer of York Risk Services Group for 11 years. He served on the Randolph, New Jersey, Township Council from 2011 through 2013, including a tenure as mayor in 2013.
When Jon Runyan, a Republican who represented New Jersey's 3rd congressional district in the United States House of Representatives, announced that he would not run for reelection in 2014, MacArthur chose to run for the Republican Party nomination. MacArthur resigned from the Randolph council to move into the congressional district. He ran against Steve Lonegan in the Republican Party's primary election, and defeated him.

Heading into the 2016 Republican National Convention, we thought it would be a good time to do a quick history of the GOP, from its origins before the Civil War through the elections of Lincoln, Eisenhower and Reagan. And where does that elephant symbol come from, anyway? (And watch for our history of the Democratic Party next week, just in time for the Democratic National Convention!)
These are the fragments from a 1994 episode of the Simpsons. The episode about a mayor running from the Republican party, who manipulated the votes to win the elections. The episode also deals with the Republican party in general. Still topical, if you ask me... The episode aired long before FOX became republican. It was still obnoxious, but in a better way than it is now. The copyrights belong completely to FOX Channel, but the compilation is mine. Feel free to comment.
