Delicious Cheese

An astute cheese producer as of late said to me, never name your cheese until its carried out. A week ago I figured out why and I give her a chance to counsel simplicity my psyche.

New crude milk :
It should be mozzarella however for reasons unknown the curds never did what they were "gathered" to. The cheese was still delightful however it wound up like a truly thick, delectable cream cheese, very nearly a goat cheese consistency so I treated it thusly. I made pizza and simply scooped some level spoonfuls onto the covering, they dissolved delectably and the pizza was smooth and great!

The come here look
I additionally molded some of this thick cheese into a little wheel and moved it in newly cleaved parsley, chives and broke peppercorns. I had so much cheese that I dropped spoonfuls into a jug alongside some pounded garlic pieces, pepper chips and secured everything in great quality additional virgin olive oil. I didn't wind up with Mozzarella yet I did wind up with a cream cheese for pizza, a herbed starter cheese and potluck sleek cheese balls. Along these lines, my cheese tip of the week, accept circumstances for what they are and delight in the cheese that accompanies it!

To Cut Some Crap

Just to cut through some of the crap being spread around by various news outlets, it is not the fault of General Motors or the United Auto Workers that Toyota, Honda, and Subaru are allowed to pay their employees roughly half what GM employees bring home in pay and benefits. We should not be asking GM's employees to give up more than what they already have.

If you must affix blame for the need of a bailout, blame every single employee of Toyota, Honda, and Subaru that has refused to sign a union membership card. Blame the management of Toyota, Honda, and Subaru for hiring temps kept on the payroll often times longer than two years at $12/hr. with no benefits. Blame the politicians that have consistently made it more difficult for workers to organize. Do not blame people that have already sacrificed half of their wage and benefit package for the sake of the company.

Granted you could blame the UAW for not paying its striking members more to walk the picket lines, but the UAW leadership is not what it used to be and apparently they expect to win long term strikes by giving the rank and file a poverty level wage that qualifies for food stamps. This problem, however, is for the UAW's rank and file to fix, not the American Government.

Cheese

Cheese is a generic term for a diverse group of milk-based food products. Cheese is produced in wide-ranging flavors, textures, and forms.

Cheese consists of proteins and fat from milk, usually the milk of cows, buffalo, goats, or sheep. It is produced by coagulation of the milk protein casein. Typically, the milk is acidified and addition of the enzyme rennet causes coagulation. The solids are separated and pressed into final form. Some cheeses have molds on the rind or throughout. Most cheeses melt at cooking temperature.

Hundreds of types of cheese are produced. Their styles, textures and flavors depend on the origin of the milk (including the animal's diet), whether they have been pasteurized, the butterfat content, the bacteria and mold, the processing, and aging. Herbs, spices, or wood smoke may be used as flavoring agents. The yellow to red color of many cheeses, such as Red Leicester, is formed from adding annatto.

For a few cheeses, the milk is curdled by adding acids such as vinegar or lemon juice. Most cheeses are acidified to a lesser degree by bacteria, which turn milk sugars into lactic acid, then the addition of rennet completes the curdling. Vegetarian alternatives to rennet are available; most are produced by fermentation of the fungus Mucor miehei, but others have been extracted from various species of the Cynara thistle family.
Cheese is valued for its portability, long life, and high content of fat, protein, calcium, and phosphorus. Cheese is more compact and has a longer shelf life than milk, although how long a cheese will keep may depend on the type of cheese; labels on packets of cheese often claim that a cheese should be consumed within three to five days of opening. Generally speaking, hard cheeses last longer than soft cheeses, such as Brie or goat's milk cheese . Cheesemakers near a dairy region may benefit from fresher, lower-priced milk, and lower shipping costs. The long storage life of some cheese, especially if it is encased in a protective rind, allows selling when markets are favorable. Additional ingredients may be added to some cheeses, such as black peppers, garlic, chives or cranberries.

A specialist seller of cheese is sometimes known as a cheesemonger. To become an expert in this field, like wine or cooking, requires some formal education and years of tasting and hands-on experience. This position is typically responsible for all aspects of the cheese inventory; selecting the cheese menu, purchasing, receiving, storage, and ripening.

Baseball

Baseball would be far more interesting to watch if the bases were electrified, starving hyenas were allowed onto the field, and landmines were planted at random throughout the ballpark.

"Pierre steps up to the plate... The pitch, he swings, it's a long fly ball, it's going, it's going... And the hyenas drag him off! What a shame they really needed that run, Bill."

"It's hit deep into right field... Sosa is at the track... *explosion heard in background*... How about that?"

Just some ideas that might bring back the fans to a game played by extremely overpaid people that just swing a stick at a ball. Does Derek Jeter really need to make $20,000,000.00 a year? If just one of my idea's was put in place, and he survived, he just might be worth it.

Columbus Day...

Columbus Day...

So today we celebrate the day that Columbus successfully invaded North America. What a daring move to march in full armor into a peaceful native village armed with the latest Spanish steel and firearms and kidnap whoever you wanted, to sell them into slavery.

What a brave, humanitarian soul Columbus must have had to have thought so highly of his fellow members of the human race to remove them from the evils that was their peaceful existence and throw them into Spanish life so they could be taught the errors of their ways in a life of servitude. What a truly wonderful thing to accomplish and well worthy of this day of remembrance.

Happy Slave Traders Day to one and all!

Math Skills...

Math Skills...

This morning, while adjusting inventory, I came across something that was rather odd. An additive that has a 1% let down rate was added to 135 lbs of base material. The amount of colorant used was 1.49 lbs. Which led me to ask people as they were walking by what 1% of 135 is. I asked 12 people, out of these 12, four could not give an exact answer, five had to think about it, only three came up with a straight answer of 1.35 right away. My first reaction is to say that these people are idiots, yet no one can really be that stupid, can they? So I put more thought into it and I decide to give these people the benefit of the doubt, and say they just aren't thinking critically.

I find this disturbing. Not just in the simple math, but in life in general. How can we, as a country, expect to get anything done when no thought is being put into life. You can't just wake up and half-assedely go through life. Doing so leads to really bad decisions being made. Like G.W. Bush and the recent Schwarzenegger fiasco in California.

I am surrounded by people that do not think, unfortunately there is nothing special about the place I work so I can assume that these numbers can expand out into the general population.

Which honestly explains why Dubya is president and Ahhnuld heads California.

Either that or people are just stupid

Happiness, where does it come from?

I think true happiness might come from appreciating the small things that life has to offer, the subtle scent of a freshly bloomed rose, the majestic colors of the leaves in autumn, the sunlight dancing through the pine needles in the morning, the moon back-lighting the hoar frost on a cold Winters morn'.

Then again, maybe it comes from knowing that I am not this guy.

I don't know.
