This is a simple video I put together to help my friend Marko come and visit me in Zhongshan (Guangdong Province), Southern China.
On the Plane
Always keep your passport, boarding card and pen ready to fill in the arrival card for Hong Kong Immigration. Ask for one on the plane if one isn't presented to you.
Airport Express MTR
This is the quickest and cheapest way to get to the center of Hong Kong from the Airport. From there you can catch a taxi, walk or find a shuttle bus that will take you to China Ferry Terminal in Kowloon. I tried walking and gave up. haha
Ferry Timetable

Note that you can catch a ferry directly from the airport but they don't go as frequency so check your arrival time and then check the link to timetable at the bottom of the page in link above. Remember, do not collect luggage or go through customs if you are able to catch the ferry directly from the airport, simply head to transfers area for ferry to Mainland China and show them your luggage sticker.
Arriving in Zhongshan,
Some hotels offer a free pickup service so if you get this make sure they know what time you are going to catch the ferry so a driver can be waiting for you once you clear Chinese Immigation at the Zhongshan side. If you take a taxi make sure he uses his meter in the taxi. Do not let him negotiate the price of the fare. You will get ripped off...
ATMS
It's easy to take out money from most ATMs in China, however each time you do chances are your Australian bank is going to ping you multiple fees.
Wifi
Hong Kong Internation Airport has Free Wifi, you'll also find some free Wifi when you get to the China Ferry Terminal.

This bridge will use many unique technical,such as cable not link to tower ,but use U shape tunnel set in the tower,etc.
深中通道，又称深中大桥（或桥隧）。规划方案东部采用6.7公里海底隧道，经过一个人工岛；西部采用18公里大桥，包括两座主桥：一座1620米主跨的吊拉桥，结合悬索桥和斜拉桥优势，将成为世界最长的吊拉桥，超过此前土耳其的博斯普鲁斯海峡第三大桥。另一座为580米主跨斜拉桥。此桥将采用许多独有技术，如斜拉索不是固定在桥塔，而是通过弯管成对套在桥塔背面，大大延长维修期。

Zhongshan
Zhongshan ([ʈʂúŋ ʂán]; Chinese: 中山) is a prefecture-level city in the south of the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong province, China, with a population of over 3 million (2012). The city used to be called Shekki (石岐).
Zhongshan is one of a very few cities in China named after a person. It is named after Dr. Sun Yat-sen (1866–1925), who is known in Mandarin as Sun Zhongshan. Sun, the founding father of the Republic of China who is also regarded positively by the People's Republic, was born in Cuiheng village in Nanlang Township of what was then Xiangshan County. In 1925, the year after his death, Xiangshan was renamed Zhongshan in his honor.
Names
Until 1925, Zhongshan was generally known as Xiangshan or Heung-san (Chinese: 香山; literally: "Fragrant Mountain"), in reference to the many flowers that grew in the mountains nearby. The city was renamed in honor of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, who had adopted the name Zhongshan. Sun is considered by both the China and the Republic of China to be the "Father of Modern China", and was from Cuiheng village – now part of Nanlang Town in Zhongshan.

Hong Kong
Hong Kong (香港; "Fragrant Harbour"), officially Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, is an autonomous territory on the southern coast of China at the Pearl River Estuary and the South China Sea. Hong Kong is known for its skyline and deep natural harbour. It has a land area of 1104 km2 and shares its northern border with Guangdong Province of Mainland China. With around 7.2 million inhabitants of various nationalities, Hong Kong is one of the world's most densely populated metropolises.
After the First Opium War (1839–42), Hong Kong became a British colony with the perpetual cession of Hong Kong Island, followed by Kowloon Peninsula in 1860 and a 99-year lease of the New Territories from 1898. Hong Kong remained under British control for about a century until the Second World War, when Japan occupied the colony from December 1941 to August 1945. After the Surrender of Japan, the British resumed control. In the 1980s, negotiations between the United Kingdom and the China resulted in the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration, which provided for the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong on 30 June 1997. The territory became a special administrative region of China with a high degree of autonomy on 1 July 1997 under the principle of one country, two systems. Disputes over the perceived misapplication of this principle have contributed to popular protests, including the 2014 Umbrella Revolution.

Guangdong
Guangdong (Chinese: 广东; Jyutping: Gwong2-dung1) is a Chinese province on the South China Sea coast of the People's Republic of China. Formerly known as Canton or Kwangtung in English, Guangdong surpassed Henan and Sichuan to become the most populous province in China in January 2005, registering 79.1 million permanent residents and 31 million migrants who lived in the province for at least six months of the year; the total population was 104,303,132 in the 2010 census, accounting for 7.79 percent of Mainland China's population. The provincial capital Guangzhou and economic hub Shenzhen are among the most populous and important cities in China. The population increase since the census has been modest, the province at 2013 end had 106,440,000 people.
Since 1989, Guangdong has topped the total GDP rankings among all provincial-level divisions, with Jiangsu and Shandong second and third in rank. According to state statistics, Guangdong's GDP in 2011 reached RMB 5,267 billion, or US$815.53 billion, making its economy roughly the same size as the Netherlands. Guangdong has the fourth-highest GDP per capita among all provinces of Mainland China, after Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Liaoning. The province contributes approximately 12% of the PRC's national economic output, and is home to the production facilities and offices of a wide-ranging set of multinational and Chinese corporations. Guangdong also hosts the largest import and export fair in China called the Canton Fair in Guangdong's capital city Guangzhou.

Hong Kong to Zhongshan in Guangdong Province by Ferry.
This is a simple video I put together to help my friend Marko come and visit me in Zhongshan (Guangdong Province), Southern China. On the Plane Always keep your passport, boarding card and pen ready to fill in the arrival card for Hong Kong Immigration. Ask for one on the plane if one isn't presented to you. Airport Express MTR This is the quickest and cheapest way to get to the center of Hong Kong from the Airport. From there you can catch a taxi, walk or find a shuttle bus that will take you to China Ferry Terminal in Kowloon. Some hotels offer a free pickup service so if you get this make sure they know what time you are going to catch the ferry so a driver can be waiting for you once you clear Chinese Immigation at the Zhongshan side. If you take a taxi make sure he uses his meter in the taxi. Do not let him negotiate the price of the fare. You will get ripped off...

It's easy to take out money from most ATMs in China, however each time you do chances are your Australian bank is going to ping you multiple fees.
Wifi
Hong Kong Internation Airport has Free Wifi, you'll also find some free Wifi when you get to the China Ferry Terminal.

My memories from fall 2012 as an English School teacher through ILP (International Language Programs) in Zhongshan, China. The first part focuses on my traveling, the second part is mostly about the friendships I formed, and the final section celebrates my sweet students! I loved my experience with ILP and Bond English School. It was an amazing time of my life and I wouldn't change it for the world. Zhongshan is a great city to live in!
