Taipei (/ˌtaɪˈpeɪ/, literally means "North of Tai(wan)"), officially known as Taipei City (Chinese: 臺北市 or 台北市; pinyin: Táiběi Shì; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Tâi-pak Chhī), is the capital city and a special municipality of Taiwan. Sitting at the northern tip of Taiwan, Taipei City is an enclave of the municipality of New Taipei City. It is about 25 km (16 mi) southwest of the northern port city Keelung. The city is mostly located on the Taipei Basin, an ancient lakebed bounded by the two relatively narrow valleys of the Keelung and Xindian rivers, which join to form the Tamsui River along the city's western border.
The city proper is home to an estimated population of 2,693,672 in 2009, forming the core part of the Taipei–Keelung metropolitan area which includes the nearby cities of New Taipei and Keelung with a population of 6,900,273, the 40th most-populous urban area in the world. The name "Taipei" can refer either to the whole metropolitan area or the city proper.
Taipei is the political, economic, educational, and cultural center of Taiwan, and one of the major hubs of the Chinese-speaking world. Considered to be a global city, Taipei is part of a major high-tech industrial area.Railways, high-speed rail, highways, airports, and bus lines connect Taipei with all parts of the island. The city is served by two airports – Taipei Songshan and Taiwan Taoyuan. Taipei is home to various world-famous architectural or cultural landmarks which include Taipei 101, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Dalongdong Baoan Temple, Hsing Tian Kong, Mengjia Longshan Temple, National Palace Museum, Presidential Office Building, Taipei Guest House, Ximending, and several night markets dispersing over the city. Its natural features such as Maokong, Yangmingshan, and hot springs are also well known to international visitors.
Taipei 101 (Chinese: 臺北101 / 台北101) – stylized as TAIPEI 101 and formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center – is a landmark supertall skyscraper in Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan. The building was officially classified as the world's tallest in 2004, and remained such until the completion of Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2009. In 2011, the building was awarded the LEED platinum certification, the highest award according to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system, and became the tallest and largest green building in the world.
Taipei 101 was designed by C.Y. Lee and Partners and was constructed by Samsung C&T and KTRT Joint Venture . Construction on the 101-story tower started in 1999 and finished in 2004. The tower has served as an icon of modern Taiwan ever since its opening. The building was architecturally created as a symbol of the evolution of technology and Asian tradition. Its postmodernist approach to style incorporates traditional design elements and gives them modern treatments. The tower is designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes. A multi-level shopping mall adjoining the tower houses hundreds of stores, restaurants and clubs. Fireworks launched from Taipei 101 feature prominently in international New Year's Eve broadcasts and the structure appears frequently in travel literature and international media.

Hi everyone! Our third day in Taipei was mainly a tour around the city. After breakfast we left for the Presidential Office Building but we ended up strolling through 228 Peace Park first. Unfortunately we weren't able to take photos of the office because of some repair work so right after that we left for CKS Memorial. We missed our first chance to catch the changing of the guard so we ended up grabbing a snack at the famous Jin Feng Braised Pork Rice stall near one of the exits. After watching the changing of the guard we decided to BIKE to our next destination! It was pretty surreal safely biking around a city so it was a pretty cool experience. Once we had our fill of art at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park we took the train to Taipei 101. Originally we were going to hike Elephant M...

I have always loved travelling. I was lucky enough that from a young age, my parents took us all over the place, instilling in us a sense of larger spaces and broadened horizons. As I grew up, I became more independent in my travels and tried to figure out ways to do it more. From learning Spanish in Salamanca to purposefully getting 6 month summer jobs in places I wanted to explore further. I became accustomed to getting lost and just wondering the streets, figuring out where would be the next good meal or when I would stumble onto some secret only locals whispered about. Getting lost was second nature back then. The only resources we had were over-read guide books that by the time you reached their recommendations, the waiters would push their best sellers down your throats. So we h...

TRAVEL BACK IN TIME WITH US. There was a time in history, we saw the boys with quiff hair, girls with circle skirt on the street, and the colour television sat in our living room. We just loved tv shows, loved Elvis Presley singing those Rock N Roll songs. Women's best model for plastic surgery might be Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. (Oh no, plastic surgery wasn't invented yet) Our world had largely recovered from WorldWar II, however Space Race had just begun. We took a huge leap in science, technology, and also the popular culture. It was 1950s, we would like to call it the golden age. Super ADD and Jump From Paper both took the 1950s as inspiration. The installation art group Super ADD is going to create a site-specific installation art by using colour paper and some other unknow...

But watch wifey... "oooh I Think She Like Me"

Me and Jim sold more Sizzurp (Syrup) than Aunt Jemima!
Get what we want, Albuquerque to V-Mont
Chi-town, Ohio, back to East Treemont
Diddy bop in Frinks, cop a army jacket
Back to the crib... get my army ratchet (ready for war!)
Mac milly clips, black act silly dick
Hat clapped, cat face looking like a Philly split
Control the baddest bitties, "Strokers" to "Magic City"

Girls Going Wild, shiiit put them ropes up!
Don't act boo believe me I'll smack you
