National Lampoon's Vacation, sometimes referred to as Vacation, is a 1983 American comedy film directed by Harold Ramis and starring Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, Randy Quaid, Dana Barron, and Anthony Michael Hall. John Candy, Imogene Coca, Christie Brinkley, and a young Jane Krakowski appear in supporting roles. The screenplay was written by John Hughes, based on his short story "Vacation '58" which appeared in National Lampoon.
The film was a box-office hit, earning more than $60 million in the US with an estimated budget of $15 million, and received widespread acclaim from critics. In 2000, readers of Total Film voted it the 46th greatest comedy film of all time. It is widely regarded as the best National Lampoon film, and in August 2015 was listed as the best film in the Vacation film series by Daniel Cohen. It continues to be a cult film and a staple on cable television.
Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase), wanting to spend more time with his wife Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo) and children Rusty (Anthony Michael Hall) and Audrey (Dana Barron), decides to lead the family on a cross-country expedition from the Chicago area to the Los Angeles amusement park Walley World, billed as "America's Favorite Family Fun Park." Ellen wants to fly, but Clark insists on driving, so he can bond with his family. He has ordered a new car in preparation for the trip, but the dealer (Eugene Levy) claims that it will not be ready for six weeks. Clark is forced to accept a Wagon Queen Family Truckster, an ugly, out-sized station wagon, as the car he brought to trade in (a 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser) has already been hauled away and crushed.

yeah, but daddy said she's the best at it.
Out of my favorite scenes in movies, I have just gotten together the top 2 scene from Las Vegas Vacation movies where Christie Brinkley (the girl in the Ferrari) passes by Chevy Chase and his family.

A short animation I made in 2007 about a little girl traveling across the country in the backseat of a 1983 Toyota Landcruiser. I used Photoshop, After Effects, newsprint, and Prismacolor markers. Sound was edited in Audacity.

Vacation, starring Ed Helms as Rusty, is an up-to-date version of 1983 National Lampoon Vacation, with Chevy Chase, as the kindly father who takes his family across the country to a resort with the goal of having a good time. For critics, the superfluous new movie is an opportunity to compere the two comic actors and two styles of filmmaking, and the changes that pop culture has endured in the past 35 years.

Best-selling Italian novelist Umberto Eco here advises aspiring writers not to take themselves too seriously, but to go step by step and remember that: “You’re 10 per cent inspiration and 90 per cent perspiration.” If you start off thinking that you’re a true genius and that you’ll be receiving the Nobel Prize any moment, you have a problem: “That kills every literary career.” Umberto Eco (b. 1932) is an Italian philosopher, semiotician, essayist, literary critic and author widely known for his bestselling novel ‘The Name of the Rose’ (Il nome della rosa) (1983). Among his other novels are ‘Foucault’s Pendulum’ (Il pendolo di Foucault) (1989), ‘The Island of the Day Before’ (L’isola del giorno prima) (1995), ‘Baudolino’ (2000) and ‘The Prague Cemetery’ (Il cimitero di Praga) (2010). 'Incendio Italiano' Berlin, 1982. Music by Frieder Butzmann, Film by Thomas Kiesel. It appeared at the film exhibition Super-8/Berlin, curated by Keith J. Sanborn for HALLWALLS (700 Main Street, Buffalo, New York 14202) in October 1983. Kiesel, in Incendio Italiano (roughly, Italian Conflagration) takes the metaphor of highway travel as the central axis for an exploration of poetic sensibility in the grand tradition of Goethe's Italian journeys and Thomas Mann's Death in Venice. The woman we see "speaking" German at the beginning, "speaks" Italian at the end. This newscaster indexes the passage from one sensibility to its opposite, but only a rough directionality obtains during the course of the film. Our road trip floats freely between north (a jerky loop of the Berlin wall) and south (...
Love let me know, let me know
I said as soon as I figure out this puzzle
No no no no no no
You're just let arrive
Take your seat
As soon as I figure out Russ
The quicker I can figure out this puzzle that I struggle with
Penthouse dreams, basement realities for the point to cash
Should I pace myself gradually
Goddamn love give me a sign
Give me your words, give me your sight, give me your mind
'Cause I'm feeling blind death and dumb
I saw this on the lean shan please let me run
With these beats I can speak to the freaks and the nuns
The rich, the poor can't you see I'm the one
With this real shit, and I hate to fuck and say
Do you feel this, yeah
Just let arrive
Let me know, let me know, let me know
It's my mother f*cker real thing yeah
Alright
I dream better with my eyes open
I sleep better with my life it's been awaken
Then I might leave the light soon
So you could see I'm focused
This game has a play so all I see is logos
Then most of you but I just hope the world can see what I see
Hear what I hear, breathe what I breathe
It's so far fresh idea, but at least I have a year
At least I have it, at least I have it
Maybe I can work a little imagine where are the rabbit
Maybe I can turn a little passion to a palace
'Cause after all I'm standing on the three point line wide open
Pass the palm mother fuckers
Let me know, let me know, let me know
Is that alright again
Yeah yeah
Before the sun comes up I gotta love love love
I started when I pray like... got
Please don't take it personal I just feel out of place
My mind is just a vehicle I'm running out of faith
But please I believe I see the reason that I
Keep on breathing in my freedom that's why, that's why
I'm gratefully dead to the life of the impossible
I never thought I guess so high of the obstacles
I know it's gonna pay off and it's... it's gonna be the comical
And when I put my mom someone tropical
These other allusions keep on moving tryin to fuck me up
Where's the forty glover when you need it in this lucky cut
And I wonder if they party up and having screaming lucky us
Let me know, let me know, let me know
Yeah, I wonder if they party up and having screaming lucky us
Love, let me know
I just let it out
Love, let me know, let me know
Love, let me know, let me know
