Startled residents of a Russian city inside the Arctic Circle have been posting photos of a local river that has mysteriously turned blood red.
Photos published on Russian social media appear to the show the Daldykan River near the city of Norilsk flowing vivid burgundy. Russian authorities have yet to establish a reason for the river’s unusual appearance, but local people quickly linked it to a giant metals plant upstream. Russia's Environment Ministry said it was investigating a plant leak as the likely cause.

The Gatling gun and canons, used to devastating effect at Ulundi, are also examined, as is the Zulu counterpart weapon, the Assegai, and the history of its creation by Shaka. There is fantastic footage of the Zulu and their culture, customs and heritage, and the battle scenes are recreated to feature film quality. These are not just Anglo-Zulu battles, but Zulu-Zulu and Zulu-Boer. It has been researched in depth, and much attention to historical detail has been paid. Much Zulu information is based upon folklore and legend passed down over time, but you are able to believe that what you are being told is, in all probability, how it actually happened.

Blood River
Blood River (Afrikaans: Bloedrivier; Zulu: Ncome) is situated in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This river has its sources in the hills SE of Utrecht; leaving the highlands it is joined by two important tributaries that originate in the Schurveberg, after which it flows meandering through a sandy plain. The Blood River is a tributary of the Buffalo River, itself a tributary of the Tugela River which it joins from the north-east.
This river is so named after the Battle of Blood River in which Zulu king Dingaan was defeated by Andries Pretorius' troops in 1838.
The Blood River Vlei, located about 20 km to the south-west of Vryheid, is one of the biggest inland wetlands in South Africa, and the wintering place of migratory birds such as ducks and geese.

Battle of Blood River
The Battle of Blood River (Afrikaans: Slag van Bloedrivier; Zulu: iMpi yaseNcome) is the name given for the battle fought between 470 Voortrekkers ("Pioneers"), led by Andries Pretorius, and an estimated 15,000–21,000 Zulu attackers on the bank of the Ncome River on 16 December 1838, in what is today KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Casualties amounted to 3,000 of king Dingane's soldiers dead, including two Zulu princes competing with prince Mpande for the Zulu throne. Three Pioneers commando members were lightly wounded, including Pretorius himself.
In the sequel to the Battle of Blood River in January 1840, Prince Mpande finally defeated King Dingane in the Battle of Maqongqe and was subsequently crowned as new king of the Zulu by his alliance partner Andries Pretorius. After these two battles, Dingane's prime minister and commander in both the Battle of Maqongqe and the Battle of Blood River, General Ndlela, was strangled to death by Dingane for high treason. General Ndlela had been the personal protector of Prince Mpande, who after the Battles of Blood River and Maqongqe, became king and founder of the Zulu.

A river is a natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, sea, lake or another river. Photos published on Russian social media appear to the show the Daldykan River near the city of Norilsk flowing vivid burgundy. Russian authorities have yet to establish a reason for the river’s unusual appearance, but local people quickly linked it to a giant metals plant upstream. Russia's Environment Ministry said it was investigating a plant leak as the likely cause.

These are not just Anglo-Zulu battles, but Zulu-Zulu and Zulu-Boer. It has been researched in depth, and much attention to historical detail has been paid. River With Many Colors
Take a tour of Caño Cristales, the multi-colored river in Colombia. The world is full of amazing rivers and lakes. But one in particular really stands out. Caño Cristales, commonly referred to as 'the river that ran away to paradise' is a famous body of water in Columbia. The river has a clear and calm current, allowing visitors to see life underneath the water's surface. Residing underwater is a range of rocks covered in green moss. But for a period of time from September to November, the water level dips allowing the sun's natural heat to warm that moss covering the rocks and other algae formations beneath the surface. Natural wonders - Devil’s Pulpit (Blood River)
Natural wonders - (Blood River) Devil’s Pulpit is located about 200 yards off Deerberry Lane in the Blood River bottoms. This rock formation sits up high on a steep hill overlooking the valley below. Situated at about 500 feet above sea level, the pulpit rises 130 feet above the river and provides a great vista. The only sign of civilization is a communications tower in the distance. Pretoria was named after Andries Pretorius, a Boer strategies who beat the Zulu. The first war between the English and Boer to get independence ended with the defeat of the English. But 18 years later, they had a decisive victory and they ruled all over the South African republic.
It's interesting that the later prime minister, the young Churchan took part as a correspondent in the second Boer war. The sites of Pretoria remind us of the two wars even today. Paul Kruger was the respected President of the country between the two wars. In Church Wit, we can find the simple house where he lived for seven years. The entrance is guarded by two marble lions. The furniture looks as if the President had just stood from his desk.
In one of the rooms, the copy of the room in which he died during his exile in Switzerland has been furnished. Behind the house, a locomotive has been displayed that he traveled around the country in during his seven active years. In the street named after Kruger, we can find the red bricked church and the town hall with the Pretoria statues in its yard.
The brown statue of President Kruger has been placed in the main square called church square. Statues made in Italy stood in a store houses a secret for a long time. It was stood up only after the second Boer war. The square has always been a heart of the town. In the middle of the square, there's a small church around which markets and auctions where held for long time.
In the square, we can find the palace of justice and the building of the old parliament with the clock tower. The peace agreement closing the English Boer war was signed into the Victorian building of Melrose house in May 1902.
Boer Trekker monument is six kilometers from the town center. The imposing work was made in memory of the battle of Blood River where the Boer beat the Zulu at last. Further way above forty kilometers from Pretoria, we can see premiere diamond mine which is famous because the biggest diamond of the world was found here.
It took cutters from Amsterdam two years to make the diamonds called the star of Africa and the smaller star of Africa from the 3,106 karat precious stone which belongs to the British royal crown. The crown can be admired in the treasury of the towel of London. In the main square full of life hawkers offer fast food for example boiled or roasted corn.

The following is a list of things to do in Israel with a focus on the top attractions in this travel guide:
1) Regardless of whether you can swim (or not swim) well you will most certainly float when visiting the Dead Sea. Covering yourself in gooey mud and joining others floating is one of the top attractions in Israel.
2) No trip to Israel would be complete without sampling the local cuisine and especially the street food. With this in mind we walked all the way from our hotel room in Tel Aviv to Jaffa - an ancient city renowned for its amazing hummus and other street food. Aside from just hummus we were able to try Shaksouka, cheese stuffed pastries, malabi and kanafeh.
3) Having the opportunity to take a tour of the West Bank (or Palestine) is an eye opening experience. Media coverage, from the perspective of the west, often depicts this area as being quite unruly and poor; however, a tour there really dispels a lot of myths. We had the opportunity to eat falafel, walking around the streets and get a real sense of what life is like in this region. Some highlights included visiting Sheppard's Field, the Jordan River and oldest city in the world - Jericho. To end our trip we drank beer at the West Bank Palestinian brewery.
4) Getting off the beaten track a little we visited Rosh Hanikra. Known as the window to the Mediterranean we were treated to breathtaking views and an amazing sunset.
5) Aside from just eating our way around Jaffa, we took the time to properly explore it on foot. One of the top highlights was visiting a traditional flea market,
6) Taking the cable car up to visit Masada was a welcome relief considering how hot it was on the day we visited. As we wandered about we visited an old water cistern and Byzantine church.
7) Caesarea! The ruins of the ancient city once given from Agus Caesar to Harrod the Great was an experience we'll never forget. Walking around in the Hippodrome allowed me to visualize what the old chariot races must have been like.
8) One of my favorite meals in Israel was prepared by a Druze family. This amazing feast, in the form of a buffet, featured kebabs, olives, chicken and stuffed cabbage just to name a few.
9) Wondering wear to rest your sleepy head while traveling in Israel? Look no further than the Fauzi Azar Inn in Nazareth. This converted Arab Mansion.
10) One of the more frontier attractions was visiting Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee. We toured around the Banias Reserve and Mount Bental.
11) Considering how tasty the food is in Israel it would be a shame to leave without knowing how to recreate these delectable delights back home in your own kitchen. Fortunately, for us, we were able to take a cooking class at Dan Gourmet in Tel Aviv. We learned how to make Lahmacun and charred eggplant amongst other dishes.
12) Have you ever wondered how olive oil is made? Visiting an olive press answered our all of our questions and made us appreciate the craft of making this high quality cooking oil. For the best vantage point of Nazareth we headed to Mount Precipice for panoramic 360 degree views. Finally, we visited Haifa to check out the famous Bahá'í gardens.

River in Russia Mysteriously Turns Biblical Blood Red
Startled residents of a Russian city inside the Arctic Circle have been posting photos of a local river that has mysteriously turned blood red. Photos published on Russian social media appear to the show the Daldykan River near the city of Norilsk flowing vivid burgundy. Russian authorities have yet to establish a reason for the river’s unusual appearance, but local people quickly linked it to a giant metals plant upstream. Russia's Environment Ministry said it was investigating a plant leak as the likely cause.

On 16 December, dawn broke on a clear day, revealing that " 'all of Zululand sat there' ," said one Trekker eyewitness.[7] On his deathbed thirty years later, Sarel Cilliers recalled that before the battle commenced, the Trekkers had made a vow to God that if He should deliver them, they would build a church and commemorate the day as a Sabbath.

Narrated by award-winning actor John Hurt, this is a series of three programmes covering the story of the Zulu Nation, told in drama-documentary style, but also including interviews with historians and descendants, plus many re- enacted battle scenes.
The episodes are entitled Shaka, King of the Zula; Blood River; and Red Coat, Black Blood and cover the history of the Zulu nation from its foundation by Shaka until its defeat by the British.
Shaka was an illegitimate prince who reclaimed his birthright to become a 19th-century African king, forging a nation with brilliance and brutality. Shaka created a vast new nation from warring tribes and created an efficient and disciplined army from hoards of anarchic Zulu warriors. The nation rose together to become an army that defeated the British army - from the then most powerful empire on Earth.
