• James Gleick, author of the hugely influential book, Chaos: Making a New Science, which popularised the idea of ‘the butterfly effect’. His new book, Time Travel: A History takes a sweeping look at the history of time travel in culture, science, technology and philosophy. Come and hear this remarkable polymath wax scientific about the past, present and future with host and science educator George Aranda.
• In Australia for the first time, popular podcast Slate Culture Gabfest’s Julia Turner, Dana Stevens and Stephen Metcalf will record an episode live, with special guest Courtney Barnett.
• The Alt Write is an all-star panel, bringing together four incredible writers and contrarians to investigate the role of the writer as shit-stirer, agitator and agent for change. With Roxane Gay, John Safran, George Saunders and Brit Bennett.
• Highly acclaimed international authors Paul Beatty (Man Booker Prize 2016 winner, The Sellout), Susan Faludi (In the Darkroom, Backlash) and Ivan Coyote (Tomboy Survival Guide) will untangle our often divergent conceptions of identity in this panel event Nation, Clan, Self.
