The 2017 Suzuki Swift will arrive in June.

Suzuki's all-new Swift will arrive in Australian showrooms in the first half of June this year.

Having made its global debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March, the new Swift features a version of the lightweight platform used under the Baleno and Ignis, but features a longer wheelbase for improved passenger space. However, it has a slightly shorter overall length compared to the outgoing model.

Australian specifications haven't yet been confirmed with full details expected closer to launch, but in Japan the new Swift comes with a choice of either a 66kW 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine (also available with hybrid assist), or a 75 kW 1.0-litre 'Boosterjet' turbocharged three cylinder engine.

Buyers in Japan can also opt for safety kit including automatic high-beam headlights, a surround view camera, and adaptive cruise control, though it remains unconfirmed how much of that safety equipment will be available to Australian buyers.

Suzuki is sure to add in its latest Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible infotainment, and if recent high levels of specification from the Ignis and Baleno carry through to the Swift expect touches like navigation, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, speed limiter and daytime running lights to make the standard feature list.

"Being behind-the-scenes and seeing all of the hard work and market research that has gone into this final product affirms that the new Swift is set to be a total game changer," said Suzuki Australia managing director, Andrew Moore.

"Careful consideration needs to be taken when introducing changes to any product that is already so highly regarded and I am one hundred-percent certain that the revival of Swift is something we should all be very, very excited about."

In 2016 Swift was Suzuki's best selling model, however supply constraints for the runout model, and the success of the Vitara SUV have seen it slip from number one status so far in 2017.
