MIFF is a not-for-profit organisation that has been continuously running since 1952, making us one of the world’s oldest film festivals, alongside Cannes and Berlin. Presenting the unique perspectives of global cinema for all Melburnians, and showcasing exceptional Australian filmmaking, MIFF is a transformative experience for filmgoers and filmmakers alike.

In 2017 we'll celebrate the 66th Melbourne International Film Festival, an achievement that reflects the passion of our audience, who are the lifeblood of the festival.

MIFF proudly generates 70% of its funding from non-government sources, through ticket sales, partnerships, membership and submissions. MIFF emerges from the depths of winter each year thanks to the tireless efforts of a small team of talented staff, supported by an incredible annual group of volunteers, without whose friendly front-of-house faces the festival simply would not be possible.
