FILM DESCRIPTION:
An intense film about time travel, this sci-fi entry was directed by Terry Gilliam, a member of the comedy troupe Monty Python. The film stars Bruce Willis as James Cole, a prisoner of the state in the year 2035 who can earn parole if he agrees to travel back in time and thwart a devastating plague. The virus has wiped out most of the Earth's population and the remainder live underground because the air is poisonous. Returning to the year 1990, six years before the start of the plague, Cole is soon imprisoned in a psychiatric facility because his warnings sound like mad ravings. There he meets a scientist named Dr. Kathryn Railly (Madeleine Stowe) and Jeffrey Goines (Brad Pitt), the mad son of an eminent virologist (Christopher Plummer). Cole is returned by the authorities to the year 2035, and finally ends up at his intended destination in 1996. He kidnaps Dr. Railly in order to enlist her help in his quest. Cole discovers graffiti by an apparent animal rights group called the Army of the Twelve Monkeys, but as he delves into the mystery, he hears voices, loses his bearings, and doubts his own sanity. He must figure out if Goines, who seems to be a raving lunatic, holds the key to the puzzle.

Included is footage from the DreamWorks company picnic held in the summer of 1995 at the Calamigos Ranch. When this video was presented, it had only been 14 months since David Geffen, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Steven Spielberg had announced the forming of the studio. Bonjour, je m'appelle Le Bris Jeffrey, je suis en première année à l'IIM, etaprès avoir longuement hésiter avec l'axe 3D et j'axe jeux vidéo, j'ai finalement choisi l'axe Jeux Video. Voici une chorégraphie de Michael Jackson sur la musique Dangerous Live lors des MTV Awardsmusique de 1995, sur laquelle danse mon personnage modélisé Duke Nukem. Duke Nukemn est le personnage principale des jeux du même nom. Blond et musclé, Duke Nukem est un militaire passionné par les armes à feu et les « gonzesses ». Dans ses jeux il est essentiellement amené à lutter contre les extraterrestres qui envahissent la Terre. Comme principale défault il y a tout d'abord, mon animations qui manque parfois de fluidité. J'ai du faire des approximations avec certaines parties du corps comme les mains, par manque de visibilité dans ma vidéo de réference. Ce qui donne parfois des mouvement peut naturel et des saccade. Je n'ai également pas texturer mon décors et n'ai pas rajouter d'effet de lumière, ce qui donne un rendu assez terne à la scène. Néanmoins je pense m'en être bien sorti en ce qui concerne la modélisation et le skinning. Bon visionnage ! -

It's a 20 ft. 1938 "Jeffrey" built by Myles Jeffrey of Athens Ontario. It is powered by the original Kermath Sea Prince 95 hp motor. Jeffrey was the joinery foreman for Chris Craft in the 1920s in Algonac Michigan but came back to Canada in 1932 and built his own boats - about 1 per year. The boat design has clear influences from early (pre 1930s) Chris Crafts - harkening to the Chris Craft Productions records are virtually non-existent but he is believed to have built about 50 boats, the last in 1957. The boat is made of mahogany primarily with butternut trim (kingboard and outer covering planks). The boat has had three owners in its life. FILM DESCRIPTION:
An intense film about time travel, this sci-fi entry was directed by Terry Gilliam, a member of the comedy troupe Monty Python. The film stars Bruce Willis as James Cole, a prisoner of the state in the year 2035 who can earn parole if he agrees to travel back in time and thwart a devastating plague. The virus has wiped out most of the Earth's population and the remainder live underground because the air is poisonous. Returning to the year 1990, six years before the start of the plague, Cole is soon imprisoned in a psychiatric facility because his warnings sound like mad ravings. There he meets a scientist named Dr. Kathryn Railly (Madeleine Stowe) and Jeffrey Goines (Brad Pitt), the mad son of an eminent virologist (Christopher Plummer). Cole is returned by the authorities to the year 2035, and finally ends up at his intended destination in 1996. He kidnaps Dr. Railly in order to enlist her help in his quest. Cole discovers graffiti by an apparent animal rights group called the Army of the Twelve Monkeys, but as he delves into the mystery, he hears voices, loses his bearings, and doubts his own sanity. He must figure out if Goines, who seems to be a raving lunatic, holds the key to the puzzle.

Edited by John Carnochan, this video was produced to present to the SIGGRAPH community what was so special about the DreamWorks studio. Included is footage from the DreamWorks company picnic held in the summer of 1995 at the Calamigos Ranch. When this video was presented, it had only been 14 months since David Geffen, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Steven Spielberg had announced the forming of the studio. A wonderful snapshot of the very new studio.

Bonjour, je m'appelle Le Bris Jeffrey, je suis en première année à l'IIM, etaprès avoir longuement hésiter avec l'axe 3D et j'axe jeux vidéo, j'ai finalement choisi l'axe Jeux Video.
Voici une chorégraphie de Michael Jackson sur la musique Dangerous Live lors des MTV Awardsmusique de 1995, sur laquelle danse mon personnage modélisé Duke Nukem.
Duke Nukemn est le personnage principale des jeux du même nom. Blond et musclé, Duke Nukem est un militaire passionné par les armes à feu et les « gonzesses ». Dans ses jeux il est essentiellement amené à lutter contre les extraterrestres qui envahissent la Terre.
Comme principale défault il y a tout d'abord, mon animations qui manque parfois de fluidité. J'ai du faire des approximations avec certaines parties du corps comme les mains, par manque de visibilité dans ma vidéo de réference. Ce qui donne parfois des mouvement peut naturel et des saccade. Je n'ai également pas texturer mon décors et n'ai pas rajouter d'effet de lumière, ce qui donne un rendu assez terne à la scène.
Néanmoins je pense m'en être bien sorti en ce qui concerne la modélisation et le skinning.

Jeffrey J. Kripal holds the J. Newton Rayzor Chair in Philosophy and Religious Thought at Rice University in Houston, Texas. His areas of interest include the re-visioning and renewal of the comparative method in the study of religion, the comparative erotics of mystical literature, American countercultural translations of Asian religious traditions, and the history of Western esotericism from ancient Gnosticism to the New Age. He focuses on the more informal modern world of the "spiritual but not religious,” an increasingly popular orientation that Kripal calls the "religion of no religion."
Kripal is a prominent advocate for including the paranormal in religious studies which he contends is an untapped source of insight into the sacred. He believes that by tracing the history of psychical phenomena through the last two centuries of Western thought we can see its potential centrality to the critical study of religion.
Kripal’s lecture is part of the center’s Maxine and Jonathan Marshall Speaker Series on Religion and Conflict, which honors the lifelong commitment of Maxine and Jonathan Marshall to promoting the arts, education, civil liberties, and world peace.

The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter (often abbreviated Alien Encounter) is a former Tomorrowland "theater-in-the-round" attraction in the Magic Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World Resort. It was a darkly humorous science-fiction experience that used binaural sound to achieve many of its effects.
A warning outside the attraction's entrance alerted guests that it was very intense; parents were recommended to not bring small children into the attraction.
It opened briefly for previews on December 16, 1994 on the site of the former Mission to Mars attraction, but was ordered closed for retooling by then-Disney CEO Michael Eisner in January 1995. It opened officially on June 20, 1995 as part of the New Tomorrowland and closed permanently on October 12, 2003. It was replaced by Stitch's Great Escape!, which uses much of the same technology and set pieces.
While the attraction was short-lived, it developed a cult following among Disney fans. Some praised it for its sophisticated tone, a sharp contrast to a lot of the attractions at Disney's theme parks.
Guests are ushered into the "Tomorrowland Interplanetary Convention Center" for a demonstration of new technology from an alien corporation known as X-S Tech. The company's chairman, L.C. Clench (Jeffrey Jones), sets the attraction's subtly sinister tone with a pre-show welcome that includes his corporate philosophy — If something can't be done with X-S [excess], then it shouldn't be done at all.
Next, guests proceed into a second area where an X-S robot known as the Simulated Intelligence Robotics, voiced by (Tim Curry), or S.I.R. for short, demonstrates the company's "practically painless" teleportation technology using a cute little Animatronics alien named Skippy. The creature's charred and disoriented appearance after being teleported a short distance across the room suggests that the technology is flawed.
Finally, guests are seated in harnesses within a circular chamber surrounding an enormous plastic cylinder - the "teleportation tube." Clench and two X-S Tech employees, Spinlok (Kevin Pollak) and Dr. Femus (Kathy Najimy), communicate "live" from across the galaxy via video screens. Initially, a single guest is to be teleported out of the chamber for a meeting with Clench. Instead, Clench is "seized" by inspiration and decides to have himself teleported into the chamber to meet the entire group.
Clench's impatience and the change of plans cause the teleportation signal to be diverted through an unknown planet. As a result, a towering winged, carnivorous alien is beamed into the tube by mistake. The creature quickly escapes, however, as intermittent darkness and flashes of light reveal the shattered and empty teleportation tube. A power outage then plunges the chamber into total darkness as guests sit helplessly restrained in their seats.
During the portions of the attraction that take place in darkness, binaural sound effects suggest that the alien is moving through the chamber, menacing the guests and even devours a maintenance man. In-seat vibration, air-blasts and other effects contribute to the illusion, with the alien appearing to be breathing and at one point licking the guests. "Blood" spattering in the dark is simulated by the spraying of water.
With assistance from the two X-S Tech technicians, the ravenous alien is ultimately driven back into the broken teleportation device and destroyed. Guests are then released from their seats.

The creature's charred and disoriented appearance after being teleported a short distance across the room suggests that the technology is flawed.
Finally, guests are seated in harnesses within a circular chamber surrounding an enormous plastic cylinder - the "teleportation tube." Clench and two X-S Tech employees, Spinlok (Kevin Pollak) and Dr. Femus (Kathy Najimy), communicate "live" from across the galaxy via video screens. Initially, a single guest is to be teleported out of the chamber for a meeting with Clench. Instead, Clench is "seized" by inspiration and decides to have himself teleported into the chamber to meet the entire group.
Clench's impatience and the change of plans cause the teleportation signal to be diverted through an unknown planet. As a result, a towering winged, carnivorous alien is beamed into the tube by mistake. The creature quickly escapes, however, as intermittent darkness and flashes of light reveal the shattered and empty teleportation tube. A power outage then plunges the chamber into total darkness as guests sit helplessly restrained in their seats.
During the portions of the attraction that take place in darkness, binaural sound effects suggest that the alien is moving through the chamber, menacing the guests and even devours a maintenance man. In-seat vibration, air-blasts and other effects contribute to the illusion, with the alien appearing to be breathing and at one point licking the guests. "Blood" spattering in the dark is simulated by the spraying of water.
With assistance from the two X-S Tech technicians, the ravenous alien is ultimately driven back into the broken teleportation device and destroyed. Guests are then released from their seats.

It's a 20 ft. 1938 "Jeffrey" built by Myles Jeffrey of Athens Ontario. It
is powered by the original Kermath Sea Prince 95 hp motor.
Jeffrey was the joinery foreman for Chris Craft in the 1920s in Algonac
Michigan but came back to Canada in 1932 and built his own boats - about 1
per year. The boat design has clear influences from early (pre 1930s) Chris
Crafts - harkening to the Chris Craft Productions records are virtually
non-existent but he is believed to have built about 50 boats, the last in
1957.
The boat is made of mahogany primarily with butternut trim (kingboard and
outer covering planks).
The boat has had three owners in its life. Built for Alf and Ethel Layng of
Rideau Ferry, ON (Big Rideau Lake) the boat was originally purchased for
four equal payments of $318.75. Layng operated it until he was ninety and
sold it with the cottage in the late 70s to Mel Evans. We purchased it from
Mel in 1995. It even came with the original engine manual!
Miller Potter Boat Restoration in Manotick ON did a complete frame-up
restoration in 1988. We've maintained it ourselves since 1995.

For more than two decades Jeffrey Kipnis’s work has shaped the thinking, imagination and creative work of architects and critics. From seminal studies of the work of such key practitioners as Philip Johnson, Peter Eisenman, Rem Koolhaas and Daniel Libeskind, to theoretical reflections on the intellectual, cultural and political role of contemporary architecture in such essays as Toward a New Architecture, Twisting the Separatrix and Political Space I, as well as his award-winning film on the work of Frank Gehry, and his exhibitions on architectural drawing and design, Kipnis has brought a restless, generous and provocative originality to bear on the issues that have defined contemporary architecture.
Kipnis holds a Masters degree in physics from Georgia State University, USA (1981), and in 2006, he was awarded an honorary diploma by the Architectural Association School of Architecture, London, in recognition of his contributions to the discipline of architecture as a teacher, critic, and theorist. Other honors include the AIA (Georgia Chapter) Bronze Medal for Service to Architecture (1985), a Professional Development Award from the Architectural Society of Ohio Foundation (1992), and an Ohio State University Distinguished Research Award (2005). He is professor and overlord of architecture at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He has been a visiting professor at Columbia University, New York, and the Southern California Institute of Architecture, Los Angeles, the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Boston, and is currently a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Angewandte Kunst). Kipnis taught at the Architectural Association from 1992–1995, where he was the founding director of the Graduate Design Program. He also curates Architecture and Design at the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, Ohio.
As a critic he has written for many different periodicals, including Assemblage, El Croquis, Architectural Design, Harvard Design Magazine, Log, and Quaderns.
