In traditional Chinese culture, qì or ch'i ( qì, also known as gi in Korean culture,ki in Japanese culture and Prana in Indian culture) is an active principle forming part of any living thing.Qi literally translates as "breath", "air", or "gas", and figuratively as "material energy", "life force", or "energy flow".Qi is the central underlying principle in traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts.
Concepts similar to qi can be found in many cultures, for example, prana in the Hindu religion, "chi" in the Igbo religion, pneuma in ancient Greece, mana in Hawaiian culture, lüng in Tibetan Buddhism, ruah in Hebrew culture, and vital energy in Western philosophy. Some elements of qi can be understood in the term energy when used by writers and practitioners of various esoteric forms of spirituality and alternative medicine. Elements of the qi concept can also be found in Western popular culture, for example "The Force" in Star Wars and Jediism. Notions in the West of energeia, élan vital, or "vitalism" are purported to be similar.
QI (Quite Interesting) is a British comedy panel game television quiz show created and co-produced by John Lloyd, hosted by Stephen Fry, and featuring permanent panellist Alan Davies. Most of the questions are extremely obscure, making it unlikely that the correct answer will be given. To compensate, points are awarded not only for right answers, but also for interesting ones, regardless of whether they are right or even relate to the original question. Conversely, points are deducted from a panellist who gives "answers which are not only wrong, but pathetically obvious," typically answers that are generally believed to be true but in fact are misconceptions. These answers are known as forfeits, usually indicated by a loud siren, flashing lights, and the incorrect answer being displayed on screen. Bonus points are sometimes awarded or deducted for challenges or incorrect references, varying from show to show.
The show has received very positive ratings from critics and has been nominated for multiple awards. Several books, DVDs and other tie-ins to the show have been released, and international versions of QI have been made in other countries. QI has a philosophy that "everything is interesting if looked at in the right way"; many factual errors in the show have been corrected in later episodes or on the show's blog.

The Latin Quarter of Paris (French: Quartier latin, IPA: [kaʁtje latɛ̃]) is an area in the 5th and the 6th arrondissements of Paris. It is situated on the left bank of the Seine, around the Sorbonne.
Known for its student life, lively atmosphere and bistros, the Latin Quarter is the home to a number of higher education establishments besides the university itself, such as the Lang–Martinez Psychiatric Hospital, the École des Mines de Paris, Panthéon-Assas University, the Schola Cantorum, and the Jussieu university campus. Other establishments such as the École Polytechnique have relocated in recent times to more spacious settings.
The area gets its name from the Latin language, which was once widely spoken in and around the University since Latin was the language of learning in the Middle Ages in Europe.

With Lucy Porter, Frankie Boyle and Ross Noble. Extra notes below! Lucy says she tried to help put a tie on her much taller husband but struggled, nearly fell off the chair and nearly strangled him. Someone (probably Ross) says she could put the tie round his dick instead. Ross says he drives past the Ann Summers factory on his way home. Wonders if crotchless knickers started as a factory defect. Frankie could not be arsed to do the ring and chain bit. Sandi is about to move on after Ross and Lucy do it but no, Alan insists on doing the trick himself. Sandi gets a laptop out and says she has something to show us. She does this deliberately slowly. It's a fake laptop. She says clickbait get us to anticipate things and that feels good. Frankie goes on a *long* rant about it. Ross goes ...

Qi is the concept of a life-force that moves through our body and is central to the practice of Acupuncture. In this video Dr Daniel Keown, author of The Spark In The Machine, explains how we can understand Qi scientifically. Taking you on a journey back to the beginning of (your) time Dr Keown explains how embryology brings the mystery of Qi into focus. Includes never-before-seen video footage of Qi in the embryo.
Qi was created in response to my first visit to China -- the images and sounds, and the emotions that are evoked in the piece relate to my experiences. China is full of contradictions and cultural complexity. In this piece, I represent my inability to grasp this place of cataclysmic change as an impossible architecture that continuously builds, resolves, then falls apart. At some points there is a chaos of visual stimuli -- overwhelming or unsettling -- and at others a sense of wonder. The piece ends with prayer flags, captured at an ancient Tibetan Buddhist/Taoist temple in northwest China, symbolizing the enduring expression of ancient culture in the midst of contemporary upheaval.

Why do we say ‘to die for’ when it’s actually sadness that kills? Laughing has medicinal virtues for health, but it must not be a raucus laughter. It’s this kind of laugh, which heals from the fir...
I’ve been a QI fan for years but I have never liked the opening credits: they just don’t do the programme justice in my opinion. Whenever I see them I get a mighty urge to redo them differently. I finally gave in over the Easter Break and made a little version of my own. Here are some 'quite interesting' facts about this sequence: - This sequence is in no way connected with QI, its creators or producers. Or the BBC. It's just a fan-made non-profit piece. - The stage where the objects stand is based on the backdrop prop behind Stephen Fry on the TV series. - The colours are based on the same object: purple, yellow, black and white. - The engraved look is intended to reflect illustrations you frequently find in encyclopaedias. - The floating characters are taken from the Rosetta St...
