Your Ward News has been.... well.... in the news again:

Toronto police are again investigating Your Ward News for potential hate crimes, but a Thorncliffe Park resident who was one of the first to call on Canada Post to stop delivering the publication doesn’t believe criminal charges will result.

Your Ward News, which bills itself as “the world’s largest anti-Marxist publication,” is a bizarre collection of anti-Marxist rants, stream of consciousness rambling, essays linking Jews to Communism, and assorted anti-gay an pro-Nazi articles. The tabloid also employs photographic collages that invariably include Nazi imagery and other photos and articles portraying Jews as evil. The winter cover includes a manipulated image of Jewish financier George Soros, with horns, wearing a tunic emblazoned with the satanic number 666 and the Star of David.

YWN has been a going concern for some time, but particularly since James Sears (aka "Dimitri the Lover")  took over as editor when the rag became an overt vehicle promoting Sears' misogynistic, antisemitic, and racist views.

The above missive refers to the Liberal government's decision to order Canada Post to stop delivering it to Toronto homes, but creeper Sears has continued publication and has started distribution privately. In the meantime, TWN has lost almost all of its advertisers save those with direct links to Sears and YWN. And of course fellow creeper Paulie has been boosting the rag for some time as well:

"Your Ward News" Loses Advertisers

Among the stories we published on December 15 was a snippet on attorney David Faed who continued to advertise his services in neo-Nazi rag "Your Ward News" despite knowing full well the nature of the publication he was helping to sponsor:

Mr. Faed's continued involvement with YWN resulted in his coming to the attention of Richard Warman and in our experience coming to the attention of Richard Warman is often fraught with difficulties:

Warman says he did not believe it when he was first told a lawyer was advertising in Your Ward News. 

“My main impression was that hopefully the member wasn’t aware of the type of publication he was advertising in,” he says. 

“But when I spoke with Mr. Faed directly, it became clear that wasn’t in fact the case.” 

Warman says Faed continued to advertise in the publication after Warman contacted him to voice his concerns in 2015. 

Warman then filed his complaint after he says it became apparent Faed had no intention of pulling his ads from the publication.

It is perhaps additionally concerning considering Mr. Faed is advertising his services which explicitly focus, among other things, defending clients accused of domestic and sexual assaults in a rag promoting jury nullification:

Warman says that in addition to the discriminatory content of the newsletter, it also advocates some troubling views concerning the justice system. 

In the fall 2016 edition of the publication, one piece advocates “Jury Nullification,” which it describes as “when a Jury ignores the ‘law’ and the ‘FACTS’ AS PRESENTED TO THEM,” and instead rules “based on what they feel is MORALLY RIGHT.” 

The piece goes on to list a number of principles juries should follow that include a demand that men who are accused of “non-violent sexual assault and rape” must be acquitted. 

“To be involved with a publication that openly advocates obstruction of justice takes it to a whole new level. I would hope that Mr. Faed would then reconsider his position,” says Warman.

Mr. Faed also appears to have understood the gravity of being featured in the "Law Times" in such a negative light and didn't really take it all that well:

In a statement to Law Times, Faed said, “This is libellous [sic] trash falsely attributed to me. I warn you to reconsider this.”

“This will permanently damage my reputation as a 45-year defender of criminal cases and will lead to prejudice in court against the falsely accused,” Faed said in his statement to Law Times.

We aren't sure if he's as concerned about his prospective clients receiving a fair trial or his own ability to earn an income. A little more from column "B" we think.

But it appears that Mr. Faed's involvement with YWN may very well be a thing of the past as a friend discovered upon the online publication of the latest edition and confirmed by this writer:

December 2016 Bits and Bites

We begin with a very brief update on Paulie who is so tickled pink (well, more pink than he usually is) about Trump's election that he isn't bothering to try to conceal his views in more "respectable" terms anymore:

And as long as others actually take on any potential risks. That of course goes without saying.

Out in British Columbia, some members of the Soldiers of Odin tried to crash an anti-racism rally in Richmond. Suffice it to say that it didn't go especially well for them:

However, it was marred slightly by the appearance of a small group from the Soldiers of Odin, a citizen-based “street patrol” organization, closely connected to anti-immigration movements in Finland.

On Sunday, although claiming not to be racist, pledging support for everyone, irrespective of race and carrying signs stating “Stand And Fight Against Hate,” — the three men representing the Soldiers of Odin were told their presence wasn’t welcome and, after a few words were exchanged, moved further down No. 3 Road. 

Despite repeated attempts to contact the Soldiers of Odin’s B.C. chapter through its Facebook page, the News was not able to reach the group or its local leaders for comment.  

At the event, Soldiers of Odin representative Kris Erickson told the News’ photographer that everyone had got their message wrong and claimed that they were there to express solidarity with the protestors.

SOO, which has chapters across Canada, denies, on its public Facebook page, any accusations of being racist or anti-immigrant and claims to exist to primarily protect women and children by keeping the streets safe. 

However, it’s been alleged the group’s private Facebook page is filled with racist and xenophobic comments, mainly directed towards Muslims.

Meet Veronica Bouchard.

Our readers have likely already heard of her already. Using the pseudonym "Evalion" (because these types always seem to enjoy engaging in self-aggrandizement), 19 year old Bouchard has made a bit of a name for herself in the neo-Nazi online speaking circuit, at least so far as YouTube and Twitter go. As such hate vloggers are a dime a dozen, her notoriety primarily stems from the fact that she is young, reasonably attractive, and most importantly, female.

In other words, in the sausage party that is the white nationalist movement, she stands out as a novel distraction.

But notoriety amongst white nationalists inevitably results in notoriety amongst decent people.

Trump Train Derailed: Canadian Supporters Respond

You would have to be living under a rock to not be aware of what has become known as the "Trump Tape" in which Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks about sexually assaulting women on a hot mic:

In part as a result of the tape and, perhaps, his crude dismissal of it as mere "locker room" banter, Trump has seen his support collapse. Though things could change between now and November 8, it seems very unlikely that he will be the next president, despite what his supporters believe.

In Canada, Trump is generally reviled by most Canadians despite their political leanings. But that doesn't mean that he is without support in Canada, albeit from a relative fringe component of the population. Many of those Canadian fringe Trump supporters, both individuals and groups, are well known to our readers.

We're sure that our readers will not be in the least surprised that Ron Banerjee loves him his Trump.

This may be in part owing to Trump's statements regarding Muslims and Muslim-Americans, though if it is possible Banerjee is even more extreme in his views:

Michelle Erstikaitis In The News Again

It's been a while since we heard anything about Michelle Erstikaitis. Last we heard she was still in detention from a previous run-in with the judicial system and Paul Fromm was diligently visiting her behind bars (really, though he claims her as a White Nationalist P.O.W. Paulie's relationship with Erstikaitis remains inexplicable to us.... unless.... yuck!).

We'll, it looks like she is out of prison.

Or, perhaps we should say, WAS out of prison:

Michelle Erstikaitis, 36, who was deemed a dangerous offender five years ago, appeared in a College Park courtroom Tuesday looking dishevelled and ranting about wanting “a refugee lawyer” to handle her case.

She is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and carrying a concealed weapon.

“I’m a Canadian citizen and I want to leave this country,” Erstikaitis said in open court.

Okay, so, what did she do exactly?

Toronto Sun sources alleged the woman initially asked for asylum but soon began shouting “ISIS is coming to kill you” and other odd things.

Officers arrived and found a guard suffering from multiple stab wounds.

“It’s alleged the woman tried to force her way into the consulate while armed with a three-inch box cutter,” said Sidhu, who added she rushed through the body scanner at the front entrance prompting a guard to react.

As the guard grabbed the woman, she allegedly slashed his throat with the razor-sharp box-cutter narrowly missing a major artery, sources say.

“He managed to avoid serious injury,” Sidhu said, adding the guard’s arm was also sliced before the woman was subdued.

Yeah, that would do it.

The article goes on to detail Erstikaitis' long and sordid history of legal problems, arrests, and her dangerous offender designation which Paulie suggested was COMPLETELY unjustifiable.

Sure.

Paulie might be pleased though (or saddened) to learn that her association with him and White Nationalists was not included in her biography

Last we actually saw Erstikaitis was at the Doug Christie Memorial in Toronto where she was photographed between Malcolm Ross and Marc Lemire....

"YWN" Writer Can Dish It Out, But Can't Take It

A few days ago we posted an article noting the decision by Judy Foote which ordered Canada Post to stop delivering the neo-Nazi rag "Your Ward News." Now, we would further note that the order doesn't preclude editor James Sears from publishing the rag online or finding other means to distribute the paper door to door. In fact, a message on Paulie's wall posted by Southern Ontario Skinhead member Dan Hall suggests that Sears may be looking to employ neo-Nazis just for that purpose:

Of course, that hasn't stopoed Lawrence McCurry from engaging in a little bit of online histrionic crying and gnashing of teeth:

Then again, McCurry's freedom of speech/freedom of the press bona fides might be called into question when the rag he writes for has been promoting book burning for more than a year now:

The Collective sent a message to Mr. McCurry in which we succinctly stated that "Your Ward News" wasn't being censored by the government, but that the government also has no obligation to disseminate trash on Sears' and co.'s behalf:

The federal government has ordered Canada Post to stop delivering Your Ward News, a low-budget, free newspaper that has offended homeowners in Toronto's east end and beyond.

The newspaper, which is the brainchild of editor-in-chief James Sears, has been labelled anti-Semitic and pro-Nazi by several groups who have campaigned for years to get Canada Post to cease distributing it.

They got their wish Monday when the minister responsible for Canada Post, Judy Foote, issued what's known as a prohibitory order against the future delivery of the paper.

A group called Standing Together Against Mailing Prejudice (STAMP) hailed the decision Monday in a news release.

"We are ecstatic about the minister's decision," said Lisa Kinsella, managing partner of The Daisy Group and one of the founding members of STAMP....

In the CBC article, James Sears doesn't seem too concerned, a sentiment echoed on his Twitter feed:

However, "Your Ward News".... er.... journalist?

Reporter? No, that doesn't work.

ANTI-RACIST COALITION APPLAUDS HUMAN RIGHTS COMPLAINT

TORONTO – Don’t help spread hate.

That’s the message to Canada Post and the Government of Canada: stop helping to distribute a racist, homophobic, misogynistic, Islamaphobic and anti-Semitic tabloid to the homes of thousands of Toronto residents.

The broad coalition of citizens and anti-racism activists – which doesn’t have a name yet – welcomed the action of Ottawa human rights lawyer Richard Warman, who today formally filed a complaint that Canada Post and the federal government have violated multiple sections of the Canadian Human Rights Act. Warman’s complaint can be viewed here. 

“Richard Warman is one of the most successful human rights litigants in Canadian history,” said Bernie Farber, Executive Director of the Mosaic Institute. “He has won a dozen human rights cases he brought against various neo-Nazis, white supremacists and hate groups. We are very confident that Richard will be successful when this complaint is heard.”

For months, the coalition of citizens and activists have been trying to lobby Canada Post and Judy Foote, the minister responsible, to stop distributing a tabloid called Your Ward News. Reportedly distributed to nearly 80,000 homes in Toronto, Your Ward News regularly promotes Holocaust denial, anti-gay and anti-women hate, and flagrant racism. Canada Post has refused to act, however, and the Crown corporation has continued to take undisclosed sums to distribute the hateful rag to people who don’t want it.

The postal corporation has threatened to discipline or dismiss Canada Post workers who object to delivering the extremist tabloid. CUPW earlier this month filed a Regular Grievance with their employer over being forced to deliver “an anti-worker, anti-people, racist, sexist and homophobic publication.”

Your Ward News is edited by James Sears, who has in the past pleaded guilty to sexual assault, and lost his licence to practice medicine for sexually assaulting patients. Sears is an unabashed Hitler enthusiast, and has called the gas chambers at Auschwitz a “lie.” Other contributors to Your Ward News include Gary Schipper, a former leader of the neo-Nazi Heritage Front, who served time in jail for refusing to take down the Front’s telephone hate messages.

“It is outrageous that Canada Post and those responsible in government have turned a blind eye to the hatred that is found on every page of Your Ward News,” said Warren Kinsella, a lawyer and resident of the Beach who wrote the book Web of Hate. “We have tried repeatedly to get them to act, but they have refused. We are hopeful that Richard’s formal human rights complaint will help change that.”

The coalition is made up of a diverse group:

Speaking of hateful people, Ron Banerjee.

Really, we almost don't have to write any more. But we will.

That Banerjee hates Sikhs as much as he does Muslims isn't new to our readers. What is new is that he is now sending out press releases justifying physical attacks against Sikhs in Canada.

Banerjee is suggesting the attack on a Sikh man in Quebec was a direct result of Sikh terrorism (though his first point equating requests for reasonable accommodation with terrorism might be a bit of a stretch) and that the men who engaged in the attack should be praised:

Note how brave these men really are:

Yep, drunkenly berating someone with racial taunting, then ganging up three on one to assault him, sure struck a blow against terrorism.

But then this isn't the only problematic video for Banerjee.

A little over a month ago, Banerjee decided that he was going to engage in a little bit of street preaching:

This video was taken by a person who posted it on reddit. Evidently one woman, not appreciating being told to cover up and dress modestly by a bunch of misogynistic assholes. took matters into the own hands and flashed them. The first street preacher was apparently so upset by being subjected to secondary sexual characteristics that he left the scene.

Banerjee? Well, we're sure he was torn. On the one hand he hates women. On the other, he's a sexually repressed pervert.

So what's a sexually repressed, misogynistic, pervert to do in this situation?

Creepy perv for the win apparently:

Oh yeah. We probably have mentioned it already, but Banerjee also loves him some Trump.

James Sears of "Your Ward News": 1992 "Toronto Star" Article

We last wrote about James Sears a little over a month ago. At that time we noted that Richard Warman had taken an interested in Sears and that those individuals whom Mr. Warman takes an interest in often come to really regret that fact.

Today, as a reminder that Sears has been a creepy dude for more at least a quarter century, we present our readers with an article currently being passed around by some friends (click here to see the larger, readable, version):

What is fascinating is that Sears hasn't seemed to have changed a bit. Misogynistic as ever and continuing to blame others for his personal failings.

March 2016 Bits and Bites: PEGIDA/JDL Protest Bust, Your Ward News in Warman's Cross-hairs, and Free Dominion News

We'll be posting an article detailing Canadians United 4 Canada's links to racist boneheads and an article to be published soon, but in the meantime we thought we would provide our readers a little bit of irony today:

But we do digress.

When we reported that the JDL was holding an event featuring PEGIDA UK speaker Paul Weston, we noted that there were plans to protest outside the location where the presentation was taking place.

Ron Banerjee, noticing that we had provided details about the counterprotest, claimed that his one man organization Canadian Hindu Advocacy and his mostly one man organization Rise Canada would discuss providing security for the event.

The JDL's Meir Weinstein, a man who has helped to promote Banerjee in the past and who has also both justified and refused to condemn Banerjee's racist, misogynistic, anti-Sikh, Islamophobic, and now Christophobic rhetoric.... well.... he seemed rather unamused:

The event did take place though and Banerjee did attend, as did it seems at least a few members of PEGIDA Canada:

January 2016: Bits and Bites

In our previous article we noted the reaction of the anti-refugee folks on social media paying specific attention to a few Facebook groups. And we received condemnation from the usual suspect about how intolerant we were for commenting on the extremist nature of the comments. However, on twitter, we received feedback from from someone quite unexpected:

Have to say, were were quite pleased to see that Paulie was finally interested in playing as for the longest time he had difficulty even saying or writing out name, never mind attempting to engage us in a discussion. Not wanting to pass up the opportunity, we sent him a follow-up since we've had a question that Paulie is uniquely qualified to answer:

Your Ward News: Birds of a Feather

While we haven't written a great deal about Your Ward News or the current editor James Sears since our last article, the antisemitic, misogynistic, and racist Toronto publication continues to be a going concern. A group in Toronto has been working successfully at convincing businesses to stop advertising in the publication. The number of advertisers has dropped precipitously, however there are still a few holdovers such as these ones found in the December 2015 edition:

Teen sexually assaulted after answering room-for-rent ad

A man faces charges after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted Wednesday, Aug. 18.

Police allege a man posted an ad for a room for rent. A 16-year-old girl contacted the man, who identified himself as Peter.

On Wednesday, a suspect picked up the girl at home and drove her to a house where she was sexually assaulted.

Petrus Zuidervaart, 53, has been charged with invitation to sexual touching and sexual assault.

The irony that an ad for a lawyer specializing in defending clients accused of sexual assault isn't lost on us, though to be fair given Sears' own history it isn't entirely unexpected either:

In spite of this, James was an incredibly bright student, studying at the University of Toronto. He was, however, not devoid of mental health issues. As a 3rd-year medical school student and a member of the Armed Forces Medical Officer Training Plan, his discordant mental state started to become well-documented; notably, James suffered from substance-abuse problems, compulsive masturbation issues, constant sexual harassment of others (including masturbating to women over the phone), and general anti-social behaviour, becoming shunned by his colleagues because of his offensive conduct.

After graduating medical school in 1988 (and being found “competent for unsupervised practice”), James undertook psychiatric treatment at the Clarke Institute where it was advised that he suffered from such psychiatric illness that successful rehabilitation was unlikely. This conclusion would be confirmed after Sears admitted to two counts of sexual assault against one 34-year-old woman and another 26-year-old woman, both of whom accused Sears of inappropriate touching and verbal sexual propositions, so intense that each woman feared for her own safety.

As a result, James Sears would be stripped of his medical license in 1993 — years after the grim diagnosis of his unlikely rehabilitation was made.

We've also learned that former Heritage Front voice Gary Schipper has been hospitalized, leaving Sears to write much of the rag himself, or so it would appear.

Your Ward News Being Investigated

When you publish articles on a blog such as this and cover the content that we do, you walk a fine line. You try to expose violent racist and make the public aware of the potential dangers of organized racist groups. You have a little fun pointing out how ridiculous the individuals are who exist in this subculture, and we've been pretty good at ridicule. However, you try not to give them more publicity than they warrant since many of them thrive on the attention.

If truth be told, we've often failed to be as conscientious as we probably should have been and knowing our tendency, we'll likely continue to fall short.

That being noted, we had been following "Your Ward News" out of Toronto ever since Michelle Erstikaitis began her involvement with the publication. Prior to Erstikaitis, "Your Ward News" seems to have been primarily a vehicle for attacking Toronto City Council members as well as being a big supporter of Rob Ford. It was, and still is, distributed freely to homes in the Beaches area of Toronto and claims a circulation of 50,000.

Things started to change somewhat with the arrival of Erstikaitis who continues to write for the publication despite her current involuntary stay in one of Canada's finer federal women's institutions. During the last municipal election, Erstikaitis and "Your Ward News" endorsed the following candidates in both Toronto and Mississauga:

1. Paul Fromm. Not a surprise as she has a weird relationship going back with him a number of years now that even boneheads don't seem to get.
2. Christopher Brosky. Convicted murderer who spent close to two decades in a Texas prison and who was later deported to Canada. Erstikaitis once suggested she and Brosky had dated.
3. James Sears

The last name was one were not familiar with, though it seems that "Dimitri the Lover" was a fringe personality of minor notoriety in Toronto.



Yeah, creepy. And if you believe this guy, he actually had at least one "student" though we can't imagine "Pavel" was any more successful than "Dimitri" would have been.

Since the municipal election, Sears has decided to go full fascist and antisemitic. He's created an unregistered political party (the New Constitution Party) which consists mainly of himself and perhaps a few of other misanthropes.
