Wieder einmal stechen die Holländer uns Deutschen damit einen Dolch in den Rücken. A Dutch Late Night Show, whose concept has obviously been stolen from us, made a video for the American President, so that in the future the motto will be: America first, The Netherlands second. This action of the Dutch in the Show "Zondag met Lubach", hosted by Arjen Lubach, is geopolitically irresponsible and dangerous. Once again, the Dutch are stabbing the Germans in the back. Haven't we Germans suffered enough? Living in fear of the Dutch for hundred years? We want to be Number two!

If you’re just popping in, we recently had a video contest where you guys competed to win a new bike. One winner would get a brand new Diamondback Release 3, and another very special winner would get my personal bike with all the parts on it. Last time we got to witness Alex actually discovering that he was a winner. He also got to shred on his new bike. We’ll check in with Alex this summer and see how he’s doing, but today we’re going to see who won my bike.
I packed it up as best I could and dropped it off at the Fedex store. Off it went on a diagonal flight path to the opposite corner of the country.
You guys chose Ike. Counting up the comments and upvotes took a long time, and there was a system to it, but it was clear from the start that he would get my bike. On a personal note, I felt best giving my Release 3 to Ike. I knew he would appreciate it, and I knew he would take great care of it for years to come.
Ike’s new bike, or my old bike was a little different from what he was used to working on. The dropper post, the BoxOne shifting, and the highly tunable suspension are all things that Ike has probably figured out by now
It’s clear that Ike is deserving, and that we found a great home for my bike. Alex was also a clear winner that a lot of you guys were able to relate to, but picking the winners of this contest involved a lot of hair splitting. The top videos were all really good, and I found myself wishing that everyone could just get bikes. Of course that wasn’t possible, it was nice to see you guys get out there and make videos. Some of you will keep making videos far into the future.
All that aside, there were three other finalists, and it would be a shame for them to leave this contest empty handed.
I reached out to Chris and promised to take a ride with him and his friends at a future date. I really like what he’s doing with those group mountain bike rides.
As for Dan, he ended up upgrading his bike to a newer more aggressive hardtail. I can’t wait to see what he does on that, but in June I’m sending him and a friend to a downhill park outside of Salt Lake City, with lift tickets and a downhill rental bike for the day. After watching those fire road hucks, we really need to see what he’s capable of on a longer travel bike.
As for Drew and his idea to surprise a local rider, Diamondback and I put our heads together to try and keep his story going. Next time, I’ll show you guys what we came up with.
For now, congratulations to Ike, Alex, Chris, Dan, Drew, and all the other contestants. Thanks for riding with me today, and I’ll see you next time.

China launched its second aircraft carrier Wednesday morning at the Dalian Shipyard, northeast China's Liaoning Province.
The new carrier, the first built on China's own, was moved from dry dock into the water at a launch ceremony that started at about 09:00.
It is China's second aircraft carrier following the refitted Liaoning.

In motion graphics you can always spot trends (call it copycats or being inspired, whatever you prefer). After the popular geometric & circle animations, since a year there are more and more animations turning up in which organic shapes transform in a liquid way.
Shapes are smeared and splash back together, often at the moment of a peak in the action, moving in slight slow motion, with twists and bends. It kind of resembles the flowerpower / psychedelic shapes known from the 60’s.
One of the earlier motion graphics with this appearance, were some of the videos of the advertising agencies CRCR and Buck (2 years ago). I also found one example that appeared already in 2008 in the video Orgesticulanismus by Mathieu Labaye. And you can find this same kind of movement in earlier anime movies.
Abstract drops and smears, swirling typography, and even characters whose limbs are being stretched and swirled – yes, maybe it’s a countermovement against the downward trend of geometrical squares, triangles and circle-transitions.

The Netherlands (

"Netherlands" literally means "lower countries", influenced by its low land and flat geography, with only about 50% of its land exceeding one metre above sea level. Most of the areas below sea level are man-made. Since the late 16th century, large areas (polders) have been reclaimed from the sea and lakes, amounting to nearly 17% of the country's current land mass.

Plzeňský Prazdroj (IPA: [ˈpl̩.zɛɲskiː ˈprazdroj], Original Source of Pilsner), better known by its German name Pilsner Urquell (IPA: [ˈpɪlznɐ ˈʔuːɐ̯ˌkvɛl]), is a lager brewed in Plzeň, now in the Czech Republic, since 1842. Pilsner Urquell, the world's first pilsner beer, is now produced by global brewer SABMiller.
Pilsner Urquell was the world’s first-ever blond lager, making it the inspiration for more than two-thirds of the beer produced in the world today (which are still called pils, pilsner and pilsener). It is hopped with Saaz hops, a noble hop variety which is a key element in its flavour profile, as is the use of soft water and fire-brewing. It is available in 330 ml, 355ml and 500ml aluminium cans and green bottles.
Almost all draught Pilsner Urquell is packaged in kegs and dispensed under carbon dioxide pressure but small quantities are available unpasteurised, unfiltered and naturally conditioned in cask in the Czech Republic and in very limited amounts in Germany, the United Kingdom, and United States.

Off it went on a diagonal flight path to the opposite corner of the country. You guys chose Ike. Counting up the comments and upvotes took a long time, and there was a system to it, but it was clear from the start that he would get my bike. On a personal note, I felt best giving my Release 3 to Ike. I knew he would appreciate it, and I knew he would take great care of it for years to come. Ike’s new bike, or my old bike was a little different from what he was used to working on. The dropper post, the BoxOne shifting, and the highly tunable suspension are all things that Ike has probably figured out by now It’s clear that Ike is deserving, and that we found a great home for my bike. Alex was also a clear winner that a lot of you guys were able to relate to, but picking the winners of this contest involved a lot of hair splitting. The top videos were all really good, and I found myself wishing that everyone could just get bikes. Of course that wasn’t possible, it was nice to see you guys get out there and make videos. Some of you will keep making videos far into the future. All that aside, there were three other finalists, and it would be a shame for them to leave this contest empty handed. I reached out to Chris and promised to take a ride with him and his friends at a future date. I really like what he’s doing with those group mountain bike rides. As for Dan, he ended up upgrading his bike to a newer more aggressive hardtail. I can’t wait to see what he does on that, but in June I’m sending him and a friend to a downhill park outside of Salt Lake City, with lift tickets and a downhill rental bike for the day. After watching those fire road hucks, we really need to see what he’s capable of on a longer travel bike. As for Drew and his idea to surprise a local rider, Diamondback and I put our heads together to try and keep his story going. Next time, I’ll show you guys what we came up with. After the popular geometric & circle animations, since a year there are more and more animations turning up in which organic shapes transform in a liquid way. Shapes are smeared and splash back together, often at the moment of a peak in the action, moving in slight slow motion, with twists and bends. It kind of resembles the flowerpower / psychedelic shapes known from the 60’s. One of the earlier motion graphics with this appearance, were some of the videos of the advertising agencies CRCR and Buck (2 years ago). I also found one example that appeared already in 2008 in the video Orgesticulanismus by Mathieu Labaye. And you can find this same kind of movement in earlier anime movies. Abstract drops and smears, swirling typography, and even characters whose limbs are being stretched and swirled – yes, maybe it’s a countermovement against the downward trend of geometrical squares, triangles and circle-transitions. Head Tracking with a Transparent Display
Second Story Labs has created a unique user experience by combining the new head tracking capabilities, recently added to Microsoft Kinect’s arsenal of features, with a transparent EL screen from Planar. As people approach the camera, the depth-sensing device passively tracks their faces and provides a computer with the 3d position and orientation of the user's head. We combined this information with openGL code and the electroluminescent display from Planar to create a type of holographic 3D display. By carefully calibrating the display and camera, we can make it appear as though a 3d model is floating behind the screen (as seen in this experiment) or just as easily augment an actual item located behind the screen with layers of information and graphics. Augmenting an Object with Face-Tracking and Reactive Content Recently, we’ve been experimenting with technology capable of tracking faces and changing what the viewer sees on a display, but we wanted to push the experience into uncharted territory. What if you could augment a physical object behind a display (say, a clothespin) with digital labels, and re-calibrate the content to line up with the object depending on your perspective? We used Planar’s LookThru Display Box, (http://bit.ly/SQUmM3) a transparent LCD screen, and a Kinect for Windows Sensor to build this experiment. If you’re just popping in, we recently had a video contest where you guys competed to win a new bike. One winner would get a brand new Diamondback Release 3, and another very special winner would get my personal bike with all the parts on it. Last time we got to witness Alex actually discovering that he was a winner. He also got to shred on his new bike. We’ll check in with Alex this summer and see how he’s doing, but today we’re going to see who won my bike.
I packed it up as best I could and dropped it off at the Fedex store. Off it went on a diagonal flight path to the opposite corner of the country.
You guys chose Ike. Counting up the comments and upvotes took a long time, and there was a system to it, but it was clear from the start that he would get my bike. On a personal note, I felt best giving my Release 3 to Ike. I knew he would appreciate it, and I knew he would take great care of it for years to come.
Ike’s new bike, or my old bike was a little different from what he was used to working on. The dropper post, the BoxOne shifting, and the highly tunable suspension are all things that Ike has probably figured out by now
It’s clear that Ike is deserving, and that we found a great home for my bike. Alex was also a clear winner that a lot of you guys were able to relate to, but picking the winners of this contest involved a lot of hair splitting. The top videos were all really good, and I found myself wishing that everyone could just get bikes. Of course that wasn’t possible, it was nice to see you guys get out there and make videos. Some of you will keep making videos far into the future.
All that aside, there were three other finalists, and it would be a shame for them to leave this contest empty handed.
I reached out to Chris and promised to take a ride with him and his friends at a future date. I really like what he’s doing with those group mountain bike rides.
As for Dan, he ended up upgrading his bike to a newer more aggressive hardtail. I can’t wait to see what he does on that, but in June I’m sending him and a friend to a downhill park outside of Salt Lake City, with lift tickets and a downhill rental bike for the day. After watching those fire road hucks, we really need to see what he’s capable of on a longer travel bike.
As for Drew and his idea to surprise a local rider, Diamondback and I put our heads together to try and keep his story going. Next time, I’ll show you guys what we came up with.
For now, congratulations to Ike, Alex, Chris, Dan, Drew, and all the other contestants. Thanks for riding with me today, and I’ll see you next time.

In motion graphics you can always spot trends (call it copycats or being inspired, whatever you prefer). After the popular geometric & circle animations, since a year there are more and more animations turning up in which organic shapes transform in a liquid way.
Shapes are smeared and splash back together, often at the moment of a peak in the action, moving in slight slow motion, with twists and bends. It kind of resembles the flowerpower / psychedelic shapes known from the 60’s.
One of the earlier motion graphics with this appearance, were some of the videos of the advertising agencies CRCR and Buck (2 years ago). I also found one example that appeared already in 2008 in the video Orgesticulanismus by Mathieu Labaye. And you can find this same kind of movement in earlier anime movies.
Abstract drops and smears, swirling typography, and even characters whose limbs are being stretched and swirled – yes, maybe it’s a countermovement against the downward trend of geometrical squares, triangles and circle-transitions.

Second Story Labs has created a unique user experience by combining the new head tracking capabilities, recently added to Microsoft Kinect’s arsenal of features, with a transparent EL screen from Planar. As people approach the camera, the depth-sensing device passively tracks their faces and provides a computer with the 3d position and orientation of the user's head. We combined this information with openGL code and the electroluminescent display from Planar to create a type of holographic 3D display.
By carefully calibrating the display and camera, we can make it appear as though a 3d model is floating behind the screen (as seen in this experiment) or just as easily augment an actual item located behind the screen with layers of information and graphics. This experience only works for one user at a time, but the effect is captivating and holds exciting potential for future transparent display installations.

Recently, we’ve been experimenting with technology capable of tracking faces and changing what the viewer sees on a display, but we wanted to push the experience into uncharted territory. What if you could augment a physical object behind a display (say, a clothespin) with digital labels, and re-calibrate the content to line up with the object depending on your perspective?
We used Planar’s LookThru Display Box, (http://bit.ly/SQUmM3) a transparent LCD screen, and a Kinect for Windows Sensor to build this experiment. The depth-sensing camera knows when you’re in front of the display, and it recognizes where in 3D space your face is. Then our software can interactively respond based on your face’s orientation.
The effect elicits a dramatic reaction. Visitors approach what appears as a static display, but as the move closer, the sensor registers their presence and content pops up and lines up with the object inside. We found that once people realized that the display was “smart” and recognized them, there was a moment of delight and they couldn’t tear themselves away. People wanted to linger and explore.
As an homage to the studio’s first interactive (http://bit.ly/SQUr2g), we used clothespins, but you can imagine how this would work with any physical object, from a valuable artifact in a museum to a new item in a retail environment.
With this technology, we can augment objects in ways that are not only novel or surprising, but truly educational and interesting. We’re able to strengthen the engagement with a tangible object, bringing new stories to life and creating experiences that people are unlikely to forget.

As an homage to the studio’s first interactive (http://bit.ly/SQUr2g), we used clothespins, but you can imagine how this would work with any physical object, from a valuable artifact in a museum to a new item in a retail environment.
With this technology, we can augment objects in ways that are not only novel or surprising, but truly educational and interesting. We’re able to strengthen the engagement with a tangible object, bringing new stories to life and creating experiences that people are unlikely to forget.

Head Tracking with a Transparent Display
Second Story Labs has created a unique user experience by combining the new head tracking capabilities, recently added to Microsoft Kinect’s arsenal of features, with a transparent EL screen from Planar. As people approach the camera, the depth-sensing device passively tracks their faces and provides a computer with the 3d position and orientation of the user's head. We combined this information with openGL code and the electroluminescent display from Planar to create a type of holographic 3D display. By carefully calibrating the display and camera, we can make it appear as though a 3d model is floating behind the screen (as seen in this experiment) or just as easily augment an actual item located behind the screen with layers of information and graphics. Augmenting an Object with Face-Tracking and Reactive Content Recently, we’ve been experimenting with technology capable of tracking faces and changing what the viewer sees on a display, but we wanted to push the experience into uncharted territory. What if you could augment a physical object behind a display (say, a clothespin) with digital labels, and re-calibrate the content to line up with the object depending on your perspective? We used Planar’s LookThru Display Box, (http://bit.ly/SQUmM3) a transparent LCD screen, and a Kinect for Windows Sensor to build this experiment. Dieser Vorstoß der Holländer in der Late-Night-Show "Zondag met Lubach" unter Leitung von Arjen Lubach ist geopolitisch unverantwortlich und gefährlich. A Dutch Late Night Show, whose concept has obviously been stolen from us, made a video for the American President, so that in the future the motto will be: America first, The Netherlands second. If you’re just popping in, we recently had a video contest where you guys competed to win a new bike. One winner would get a brand new Diamondback Release 3, and another very special winner would get my personal bike with all the parts on it. Last time we got to witness Alex actually discovering that he was a winner. He also got to shred on his new bike. We’ll check in with Alex this summer and see how he’s doing, but today we’re going to see who won my bike.
I packed it up as best I could and dropped it off at the Fedex store. Off it went on a diagonal flight path to the opposite corner of the country.
You guys chose Ike. Counting up the comments and upvotes took a long time, and there was a system to it, but it was clear from the start that he would get my bike. On a personal note, I felt best giving my Release 3 to Ike. I knew he would appreciate it, and I knew he would take great care of it for years to come.
Ike’s new bike, or my old bike was a little different from what he was used to working on. The dropper post, the BoxOne shifting, and the highly tunable suspension are all things that Ike has probably figured out by now
It’s clear that Ike is deserving, and that we found a great home for my bike. Alex was also a clear winner that a lot of you guys were able to relate to, but picking the winners of this contest involved a lot of hair splitting. The top videos were all really good, and I found myself wishing that everyone could just get bikes. Of course that wasn’t possible, it was nice to see you guys get out there and make videos. Some of you will keep making videos far into the future.
All that aside, there were three other finalists, and it would be a shame for them to leave this contest empty handed.
I reached out to Chris and promised to take a ride with him and his friends at a future date. I really like what he’s doing with those group mountain bike rides.
As for Dan, he ended up upgrading his bike to a newer more aggressive hardtail. I can’t wait to see what he does on that, but in June I’m sending him and a friend to a downhill park outside of Salt Lake City, with lift tickets and a downhill rental bike for the day. After watching those fire road hucks, we really need to see what he’s capable of on a longer travel bike.
As for Drew and his idea to surprise a local rider, Diamondback and I put our heads together to try and keep his story going. Next time, I’ll show you guys what we came up with.
For now, congratulations to Ike, Alex, Chris, Dan, Drew, and all the other contestants. Thanks for riding with me today, and I’ll see you next time.

In motion graphics you can always spot trends (call it copycats or being inspired, whatever you prefer). After the popular geometric & circle animations, since a year there are more and more animations turning up in which organic shapes transform in a liquid way.
Shapes are smeared and splash back together, often at the moment of a peak in the action, moving in slight slow motion, with twists and bends. It kind of resembles the flowerpower / psychedelic shapes known from the 60’s.
One of the earlier motion graphics with this appearance, were some of the videos of the advertising agencies CRCR and Buck (2 years ago). I also found one example that appeared already in 2008 in the video Orgesticulanismus by Mathieu Labaye. And you can find this same kind of movement in earlier anime movies.
Abstract drops and smears, swirling typography, and even characters whose limbs are being stretched and swirled – yes, maybe it’s a countermovement against the downward trend of geometrical squares, triangles and circle-transitions.

Second Story Labs has created a unique user experience by combining the new head tracking capabilities, recently added to Microsoft Kinect’s arsenal of features, with a transparent EL screen from Planar. As people approach the camera, the depth-sensing device passively tracks their faces and provides a computer with the 3d position and orientation of the user's head. We combined this information with openGL code and the electroluminescent display from Planar to create a type of holographic 3D display.
By carefully calibrating the display and camera, we can make it appear as though a 3d model is floating behind the screen (as seen in this experiment) or just as easily augment an actual item located behind the screen with layers of information and graphics. This experience only works for one user at a time, but the effect is captivating and holds exciting potential for future transparent display installations.

Augmenting an Object with Face-Tracking and Reactive Content
Recently, we’ve been experimenting with technology capable of tracking faces and changing what the viewer sees on a display, but we wanted to push the experience into uncharted territory. What if you could augment a physical object behind a display (say, a clothespin) with digital labels, and re-calibrate the content to line up with the object depending on your perspective?
We used Planar’s LookThru Display Box, (http://bit.ly/SQUmM3) a transparent LCD screen, and a Kinect for Windows Sensor to build this experiment. The depth-sensing camera knows when you’re in front of the display, and it recognizes where in 3D space your face is. Then our software can interactively respond based on your face’s orientation.
The effect elicits a dramatic reaction. Visitors approach what appears as a static display, but as the move closer, the sensor registers their presence and content pops up and lines up with the object inside. We found that once people realized that the display was “smart” and recognized them, there was a moment of delight and they couldn’t tear themselves away. People wanted to linger and explore.
As an homage to the studio’s first interactive (http://bit.ly/SQUr2g), we used clothespins, but you can imagine how this would work with any physical object, from a valuable artifact in a museum to a new item in a retail environment.
With this technology, we can augment objects in ways that are not only novel or surprising, but truly educational and interesting. We’re able to strengthen the engagement with a tangible object, bringing new stories to life and creating experiences that people are unlikely to forget.
