Pedestrian killed by four-wheel-drive in Shepparton

A man has died after being hit by a four-wheel-drive in the state's north on Friday night.

Police believe a Toyota Hilux was driving on Lockwood Road in Shepparton about 9.10pm when it struck the pedestrian at the Williams Road intersection.

The man died at the scene.

The driver of the Hilux stopped at the scene and has been cooperating with police.

The cause of the collision is still being investigated.

The death takes Victoria's 2017 road toll to 83, compared to 90 at the same stage last year.
