James Robertson Justice (born James Norval Harald Justice; 15 June 1907 – 2 July 1975) was a popular British character actor in British films of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.
The son of an Aberdeen-born geologist and named after his father, James Justice was born in Lee, a suburb of Lewisham in South London, in 1907. Educated at Marlborough College in Wiltshire, Justice studied science at University College, London, but left after a year and became a geology student at the University of Bonn, where he again left after just a year. He spoke many languages (possibly up to 20) including Spanish, French, Greek, Danish, Russian, German, Italian, Dutch and Gaelic.
Justice returned to the UK in 1927, and became a journalist with Reuters in London, alongside Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond. After a year he emigrated to Canada, where he worked as an insurance salesman, taught English at a boys' school, became a lumberjack and mined for gold. He came back to England penniless, working his passage on a Dutch freighter.

IMDB Review John (opsbooks) For anyone who likes classic Brit sitcoms of the 'As Time Goes By' type, this movie will leave you with lots of laughs and a feeling of bonhomie. The larger than life James Robertson Justice, better known to fans of the 'Doctor' series of Richard Gordon book-derived movies, is always worth watching. He is one actor whose presence can keep a movie afloat no mater how bad the supporting cast. In this movie, he is ably supported by an excellent cast of English comedians, including the great Hugh Lloyd, Leslie Phillips, Ronnie Barker and so on.
Great thriller from director Cyril Frankel with Stewart Granger, Susan Hampshire and Robert Morley, from 1966. An Edgar Wallace style mystery crime caper with a giallo angle. Lots of fun. This is another of my fan edits, combining the original British titles with a better quality German print for the bulk of the film, but with the James Robertson Justice scenes put back from the UK video, ( since the German print uses a different actor for these scenes.) A bit of a hodge-podge, but a very good film that is impossible to find in English anywhere these days. Enjoy.

Doctor at Sea is a 1955 British comedy film, directed by Ralph Thomas, produced by Betty E. Box, and based on Richard Gordon's novel by the same name. This was the second of seven films in the Doctor series, following the hugely popular Doctor in the House from the previous year. Once again, Richard Gordon participated in the screenwriting, together with Nicholas Phipps and Jack Davies, and once again Dirk Bogarde played the lead character Dr Simon Sparrow. The cast also includes James Robertson Justice and Joan Sims from the first film, but this time playing different characters. This was Brigitte Bardot's first English-speaking film. Plot With a view to escaping his employers' daughter, who has amorous designs on him, Dr Simon Sparrow (Bogarde) signs on as medical officer on a cargo ship...
