Vancouver (i/væŋˈkuːvər/ or /vænˈkuːvər/) officially the City of Vancouver, is a coastal seaport city on the mainland of British Columbia, Canada.
The 2011 census recorded 603,502 people in the city, making it the eighth largest Canadian municipality. The Greater Vancouver area of around 2.4 million inhabitants is the third most populous metropolitan area in the country, the second largest city on the United States–Canada border, and the most populous in Western Canada. Vancouver is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities in Canada; 52% of its residents have a first language other than English. Vancouver is classed as a Beta global city. The City of Vancouver encompasses a land area of about 114 square kilometres, giving it a population density of about 5,249 people per square kilometre (13,590 per square mile). Vancouver is the most densely populated Canadian municipality, and the fourth most densely populated city with over 250,000 residents in North America, behind New York City, San Francisco, and Mexico City.
North America is a continent entirely within the Northern Hemisphere and almost all within the Western Hemisphere. It can also be considered a northern subcontinent of the Americas. It is bordered to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, to the west and south by the Pacific Ocean, and to the southeast by South America and the Caribbean Sea.
North America covers an area of about 24,709,000 square kilometers (9,540,000 square miles), about 16.5% of the earth's land area and about 4.8% of its total surface. North America is the third largest continent by area, following Asia and Africa, and the fourth by population after Asia, Africa, and Europe.
In 2013, its population was estimated at nearly 565 million people in 23 independent states, or about 7.5% of the world's population, if nearby islands (most notably the Caribbean) are included.
North America was reached by its first human populations during the last glacial period, via crossing the Bering land bridge. The so-called Paleo-Indian period is taken to have lasted until about 10,000 years ago (the beginning of the Archaic or Meso-Indian period). The Classic stage spans roughly the 6th to 13th centuries. The Pre-Columbian era ended with the arrival of European settlers during the Age of Discovery and the Early Modern period. Present-day cultural and ethnic patterns reflect different kind of interactions between European colonists, indigenous peoples, African slaves and their descendants. European influences are strongest in the northern parts of the continent while indigenous and African influences are relatively stronger in the south. Because of the history of colonialism, most North Americans speak English, Spanish or French and societies and states commonly reflect Western traditions.
Granville Island is a peninsula and shopping district in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is located across False Creek from Downtown Vancouver, under the south end of the Granville Street Bridge. The peninsula was once an industrial manufacturing area, but today it is now a hotspot for Vancouver tourism and entertainment. The area has received much acclaim in recent years for its buildings and shopping experience. The area was named after Granville Leveson-Gower, 2nd Earl Granville.
The city of Vancouver was once called Granville until it was renamed in 1886, but the former name was kept and given to Granville Street, which spanned the small inlet known as False Creek. False Creek in the late 19th century was more than twice the size it is today, and its tidal flats included a large permanent sandbar over which spanned the original, rickety, wooden Granville Street bridge. This sandbar, which would eventually become Granville Island, was first mapped by Captain George Henry Richards in the British Boundary Commission's naval expedition in 1858-59, and the island today conforms roughly to the size and shape documented at that time. A British Admiralty Chart of 1893 shows the island in greater detail and conforming even more accurately to today's Granville Island.
Stanley Park is a 1,001-acre public park that borders the downtown of Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada and is almost entirely surrounded by waters of Vancouver Harbour and English Bay.
The park has a long history and was one of the first areas to be explored in the city. The land was originally used by indigenous peoples for thousands of years before British Columbia was colonized by the British during the 1858 Fraser Canyon Gold Rush. For many years after colonization, the future park with its abundant resources would also be home to nonaboriginal settlers. The land was later turned into Vancouver's first park when the city incorporated in 1886. It was named after Lord Stanley, a British politician who had recently been appointed governor general.
Unlike other large urban parks, Stanley Park is not the creation of a landscape architect, but rather the evolution of a forest and urban space over many years. Most of the manmade structures we see today were built between 1911 and 1937 under the influence of then superintendent W.S. Rawlings. Additional attractions, such as a polar bear exhibit, aquarium, and miniature train, were added in the post-war period.

Canada (i/ˈkænədə/; French: [ka.na.da]) is a country in the northern part of North America. Its ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square miles), making it the world's second-largest country by total area and the fourth-largest country by land area. Canada's border with the United States is the world's longest land border. Canada is sparsely populated, the majority of its land territory being dominated by forest and tundra and the Rocky Mountains; about four-fifths of the country's population of 35 million people live near the southern border. The majority of Canada has a cold or severely cold winter climate, but southerly areas are warm in summer.
The land now called Canada has been inhabited for millennia by various Aboriginal peoples. Beginning in the 15th century, British and French colonies were established on the Atlantic coast, with the first establishment of a region called "Canada" occurring in 1537. As a consequence of various conflicts, the United Kingdom gained and lost territories within British North America until left, in the late 18th century, with what mostly geographically comprises Canada today. Pursuant to the British North America Act, on July 1, 1867, the colonies of Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia joined to form the autonomous federal Dominion of Canada. This began an accretion of provinces and territories to the self-governing Dominion to the present ten provinces and three territories forming modern Canada. In 1931, Canada achieved near total independence from the United Kingdom with the Statute of Westminster 1931, and full sovereignty was attained when the Canada Act 1982 removed the last remaining ties of legal dependence on the British parliament.

We all have seen SRK motivating his KKR team players on the cricket ground. Believe it or not but he is the reason behind the continuous win of his IPL team. Quite unsure? Well he proved it yet again, when the badshah of Bollywood gave his first speech at TED Talk event and left many fans motivated at the Vancouver Convention Centre. He won all hearts when he laced his motivational and inspirational words with a pinch of humor. Raees actor SRK said, “I’ve been made to understand there are lots of you here who have never seen my work, and I feel really sad for you. Adding to this, the Raees actor said, “That doesn’t take away from the fact that I’m completely self-obsessed, as a movie star should be. Also, the actor compared humanity to himself — an aging actor trying to adapt to changes....

I was completely captivated by the beauty of this city, and the constant adventures it provided me. I was in Vancouver for a few days and spent some time testing out the video mode of my 7d. All random stuff, no theme or story; just cut to music. Equipment used: 7D w/ 17-55mm 2.8IS, Glidecam HD-2000, and.......rollerblades :) Color Correction was done in Color and I used the "super-flat" custom profile to help increase the dynamic range for post. 100% 720p 60 conformed to 24p. I included a bunch of clips featuring moire to demonstrate what you can/can't get away with when shooting deep focus shots. Thanks for watching! Music: Radiohead - Go Slowly

Perhaps no other city has been as thoroughly hidden from modern filmmaking as Vancouver, my hometown. Today, it’s the third biggest film production city in North America, behind Los Angeles and New York. And yet for all the movies and TV shows that are shot there, we hardly ever see the city itself. So today, let’s focus less on the movies and more on the city in the background. Press the CC button to see movie names and locations. For educational purposes only. Steph and I visited my good buddy Ben in Vancouver this summer. Ben has been there for a bunch of years, but this is the first time we've been able to see him in his element. Together we completed the Grouse Grind, rode the Gondola from peak to peak at Whistler Blackcomb, biked around Stanley Park, and ate wild berries off of bushes. I absolutely LOVE Vancouver! It travels back and forth up the B.C. Inside Passage by “special waiver" which exempts it from Transport Canada shipping regulations. These guide the movement of all other tankers operating in BC waters. As a result, it operates here with no Canadian pilots on board, it does not require escort tugs while maneuvering in Port Metro Vancouver, and most egregiously, it is allowed to travel north through Seymour Narrows and into the "voluntary tanker exclusion zone" that is the B.C. https://www.expedia.com/Vancouver.d178315.Destination-Travel-Guides Vancouver’s breezes carry the scents of nature and aromas of all the urban delights you’d expect from a city regularly voted, “the Worlds most livable”. The city takes its name from the British navigator who landed here in 1792. The original settlement was called “Gastown”, in honor of Gassy Jack, who built the city’s first tavern. Gassy Jack and his makeshift pub may be long gone, but in the historic neighborhood of Gastown, his spirit lingers on. Vancouver’s early history continues at Waterfront Station, the western terminus of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The railway’s construction brought Chinese workers by the thousands, whose descendants have enriched Vancouver ever since. Experience this interweaving of cultu...

Last summer I spent 6 weeks exploring the city of Vancouver. I went there with the intention of learning some new skills in a fresh place. I was completely captivated by the beauty of this city, and the constant adventures it provided me. Flowing from the ground to the top of the Lions Gate Bridge, I aim to show you an unseen view. www.reemond.com instagram.com/rychome Licensing: www.discoverfootage.com Music by: Atu - https://soundcloud.com/atu_n

The Heart of Vancity is a portrait of downtown Vancouver. I am always inspired by the city lights at night and tried to find new ways to show off the city's beauty. This entire film was shot during the winter months which made it very difficult to shoot because of all the rain! I am hoping to explore more of this fantastic city in the future as there are many locations left that I would love to shoot! Please watch in full screen HD for the full effect! When the sun went down
You were sitting under someone else's sunset
And I wasn't around
And you were wishing that I was a guy that you'd just met
And I was probably stumbling down
Some back street alley in Amsterdam
While you were making excuses
And breaking another heart
Or maybe I was drinking wine
With the pigeons in a square in Venice
And I was wondering what you're doing
And wondering where you are
When the stars came out
I was sitting in a studio on sunset
And the lights were down
And I was wishing the time we had wasn't over yet
And you were probably sitting in the airport
Waiting on a plane to Vegas
While I was packing a suitcase
Staring at a waiting car
Or maybe you were heading out
To some house party on Lake Austin
And I was wondering what you're doing
And wondering where you are
When my luck ran out
I was sitting on a concrete block in Little Rock
We didn't scream or shout
We just said goodbye
And I waited for the click
And the lights went out
And now I'm packing it up and I'm rollin' on out to Vancouver
For some wasted youth and a fresh set of lonely stars
And I'm wondering baby, if you ever saw the best of us
And I'm wondering what you're doing
And wondering where you are
I still wonder what you're doing
