La imagen de esta ermita, una cueva en la pared de la roca del “Elefante”, más bien parece un OJO que todo lo ve. Un enorme precipicio rodea el acceso a la ermita, salvaguardando su intimidad. Como lugar de poder y meditación, dos asientos tallados en la misma pared del Elefante, ante un paisaje infinito que llega hasta al mismo mar mediterraneo. Alejada de todo y de todos, se la considera la ermita espiritualmente más elevada de todas, pues está dedicada a aquel Galileo que pasó de Jesús a Cristo. En siglos anteriores, los visitantes de Montserrat acudían a esta ermita porque existía una lámpara de luz eterna, custodiada día y noche por el ermitaño que la habitaba. Hoy, es básicamente un refugio para escaladores, y pocos los visitantes que conocen el camino para llegar hasta aquí. Un lugar privilegiado, sin lugar a dudas.

En un intento de Alpinrunning a cotas muy bajas donde finalmente tan solo puedo hacer algunos tramos ya que el terreno esta muy descompuesto y hay mucha vegetación.

EL ERMITAÑO · CAPÍTULO 1 DE LA RUTA DE LAS ERMITAS en Montserrat
En conexión con Octavi Piulats -D.Phil- os presentamos una serie de 15 audiovisuales sobre la presencia eremítica en Montserrat. Una Ruta que pasa por recuperar y reconocer el espíritu de los antiguos ermitaños y ancestrales chamanes megalíticos –druidas- que habitaron, años a, las Ermitas de Montserrat.
Partimos de la tesis de que la montaña de Montserrat es un “lugar sagrado” y de que posee determinadas propiedades espirituales, telúricas y energéticas. Os ofrecemos una nueva visión espiritual y artística de esta montaña, diferente a la que nos ha transmitido hasta ahora la tradición católica dominante. Hablamos de “Iniciación“ desde la perspectiva de un cristianismo místico e iniciático relacionado con las antiguas tradiciones ancestrales, como el hermetismo, el pitagorismo o la teología del antiguo Egipto. También desde la conexión con movimientos sociales cristianos disidentes, como el gnosticismo, el catarismo o la tradición templaria. No sólo las tradiciones orientales milenarias se han acercado a la espiritualidad, sino que también lo han hecho las tradiciones occidentales, como vamos a mostrar.
Dedicamos este primer capítulo de la serie a la figura del Ermitaño como arquetipo. El eremita –o anacoreta- es aquel que toma la decisión de abandonar el mundanal ruido para plantearse preguntas existenciales del tipo ¿Quién soy yo? ¿Cuál es el sentido de mi vida? o ¿Qué es el mal?
A causa de su naturaleza mistérica y del impacto que esta montaña produce espiritualmente en el hombre, Montserrat es un lugar especialmente adecuado para retirarse a reflexionar o meditar. Desde épocas remotas las Ermitas han proliferado entre sus elevados riscos y sus abismales simas. A lo largo y ancho de todo el macizo, recónditas y poco accesibles ermitas fueron construidas en antiguos lugares de culto megalítico, oquedades áltamente telúricas, o enclaves energéticos de primer orden. En la vertiente de Tebas aparecen ante la vista del caminante las ermitas de Sant Pere, Santa Caterina, Sant Juan, Sant Onofre, Santa Magdalena, Sant Jaume y Sant Jeroni; en el torrente de Santa Maria, la ermita de Santa Anna; y en la vertiente de Tebaida: Sant Antoni, Sant Salvador, Sant Benet, La Trinitat, Santa Creu y Sant Dimes.
El diseño de la ruta propuesta se basa en el recorrido que Guillermo de Humboldt, viajero romántico y antropólogo alemán, realizó en el siglo XIX, visitando todas las ermitas en estrecha conexión con el poema de Goethe “Los Misterios”. Se trata de una hoja de ruta para conectar con vuestro mundo interior, así como con las diferentes dimensiones de la Naturaleza que coexisten en Montserrat. Sin lugar a dudas, el regreso a la Naturaleza ejercita la dimensión Espiritual e Inconsciente del ser humano. Y de este modo, aunar vuestra experiencia personal a la vivencia de todos los ermitaños y anacoretas que han unido su búsqueda interior al espíritu de esta montaña. El Uno con el Todo.

Montserrat
Montserrat (/mɒntsəˈræt/) is a Caribbean island—specifically in the Leeward Islands, which is part of the chain known as the Lesser Antilles, in the British West Indies. It is a British Overseas Territory. Montserrat measures approximately 16 km (10 mi) long and 11 km (7 mi) wide, with approximately 40 km (25 mi) of coastline. Montserrat is nicknamed The Emerald Isle of the Caribbean both for its resemblance to coastal Ireland and for the Irish ancestry of many of its inhabitants.
On 18 July 1995, the previously dormant Soufrière Hills volcano, in the southern part of the island, became active. Eruptions destroyed Montserrat's Georgian era capital city of Plymouth. Between 1995 and 2000, two-thirds of the island's population was forced to flee, primarily to the United Kingdom. The volcanic activity continues, mostly affecting the vicinity of Plymouth, including its docking facilities, and the eastern side of the island around the former W. H. Bramble Airport, the remnants of which were buried by flows from volcanic activity on 11 February 2010.

Ermita de SANT SALVADOR · 11/16 Ruta de las Ermitas en Montserrat
La imagen de esta ermita, una cueva en la pared de la roca del “Elefante”, más bien parece un OJO que todo lo ve. Un enorme precipicio rodea el acceso a la ermita, salvaguardando su intimidad. Como lugar de poder y meditación, dos asientos tallados en la misma pared del Elefante, ante un paisaje infinito que llega hasta al mismo mar mediterraneo. Alejada de todo y de todos, se la considera la ermita espiritualmente más elevada de todas, pues está dedicada a aquel Galileo que pasó de Jesús a Cristo. En siglos anteriores, los visitantes de Montserrat acudían a esta ermita porque existía una lámpara de luz eterna, custodiada día y noche por el ermitaño que la habitaba. Saliendo desde Olessa intentando hacer la carera de San Salvador de les Espases con las Altra Superior y la riñonera de Nathan. En un intento de Alpinrunning a cotas muy bajas donde finalmente tan solo puedo hacer algunos tramos ya que el terreno esta muy descompuesto y hay mucha vegetación.

La imagen de esta ermita, una cueva en la pared de la roca del “Elefante”, más bien parece un OJO que todo lo ve. Un enorme precipicio rodea el acceso a la ermita, salvaguardando su intimidad. Como lugar de poder y meditación, dos asientos tallados en la misma pared del Elefante, ante un paisaje infinito que llega hasta al mismo mar mediterraneo. Alejada de todo y de todos, se la considera la ermita espiritualmente más elevada de todas, pues está dedicada a aquel Galileo que pasó de Jesús a Cristo. En siglos anteriores, los visitantes de Montserrat acudían a esta ermita porque existía una lámpara de luz eterna, custodiada día y noche por el ermitaño que la habitaba. Hoy, es básicamente un refugio para escaladores, y pocos los visitantes que conocen el camino para llegar hasta aquí. Un lugar privilegiado, sin lugar a dudas.

En conexión con Octavi Piulats -D.Phil- os presentamos una serie de 15 audiovisuales sobre la presencia eremítica en Montserrat. Una Ruta que pasa por recuperar y reconocer el espíritu de los antiguos ermitaños y ancestrales chamanes megalíticos –druidas- que habitaron, años a, las Ermitas de Montserrat.
Partimos de la tesis de que la montaña de Montserrat es un “lugar sagrado” y de que posee determinadas propiedades espirituales, telúricas y energéticas. Os ofrecemos una nueva visión espiritual y artística de esta montaña, diferente a la que nos ha transmitido hasta ahora la tradición católica dominante. Hablamos de “Iniciación“ desde la perspectiva de un cristianismo místico e iniciático relacionado con las antiguas tradiciones ancestrales, como el hermetismo, el pitagorismo o la teología del antiguo Egipto. También desde la conexión con movimientos sociales cristianos disidentes, como el gnosticismo, el catarismo o la tradición templaria. No sólo las tradiciones orientales milenarias se han acercado a la espiritualidad, sino que también lo han hecho las tradiciones occidentales, como vamos a mostrar.
Dedicamos este primer capítulo de la serie a la figura del Ermitaño como arquetipo. El eremita –o anacoreta- es aquel que toma la decisión de abandonar el mundanal ruido para plantearse preguntas existenciales del tipo ¿Quién soy yo? ¿Cuál es el sentido de mi vida? o ¿Qué es el mal?
A causa de su naturaleza mistérica y del impacto que esta montaña produce espiritualmente en el hombre, Montserrat es un lugar especialmente adecuado para retirarse a reflexionar o meditar. Desde épocas remotas las Ermitas han proliferado entre sus elevados riscos y sus abismales simas. A lo largo y ancho de todo el macizo, recónditas y poco accesibles ermitas fueron construidas en antiguos lugares de culto megalítico, oquedades áltamente telúricas, o enclaves energéticos de primer orden. En la vertiente de Tebas aparecen ante la vista del caminante las ermitas de Sant Pere, Santa Caterina, Sant Juan, Sant Onofre, Santa Magdalena, Sant Jaume y Sant Jeroni; en el torrente de Santa Maria, la ermita de Santa Anna; y en la vertiente de Tebaida: Sant Antoni, Sant Salvador, Sant Benet, La Trinitat, Santa Creu y Sant Dimes.
El diseño de la ruta propuesta se basa en el recorrido que Guillermo de Humboldt, viajero romántico y antropólogo alemán, realizó en el siglo XIX, visitando todas las ermitas en estrecha conexión con el poema de Goethe “Los Misterios”. Se trata de una hoja de ruta para conectar con vuestro mundo interior, así como con las diferentes dimensiones de la Naturaleza que coexisten en Montserrat. Sin lugar a dudas, el regreso a la Naturaleza ejercita la dimensión Espiritual e Inconsciente del ser humano. Y de este modo, aunar vuestra experiencia personal a la vivencia de todos los ermitaños y anacoretas que han unido su búsqueda interior al espíritu de esta montaña. El Uno con el Todo.

Montserrat, Day tour from Barcelona Spain. Best ever in Catalonia.
Mount Montserrat was one of the best day tour we made from Barcelona. However weather was not 100% in our favour, Me and my wife enjoyed the most. Not more then an hour and half train ride from Barcelona, Mount Montserrat offers different way to climb in. One is via train and another is via cable car.

Montserrat is about 40 km north-west of Barcelona. Montserrat is at the same time name of the monastery and of sand stone mountains. It is one of the landmarks of Catalonia. The highest peak, Sant Jeroni is 1,236 m high. From Barcelona we go by train in about 30 minutes to the lower cableway station, built 1930 by the Leipzig company Adolf Bleichert & Co. A cable car takes us up to the monastery of Montserrat, which is located at an altitude of 720 m.
Apart from the cable car, there is a winding road and since 2003 a rack railway to the monastery. From there you can take a funicular railway to the summit of the mountain. Another funicular railway brings you down to the holy cave where the dark Madonna, since 1880 the patron saint of Catalonia, was allegedly found.
Of course, the mountain can also be reached by foot over steep trails.
The monastery from the 12th century is visited by many pilgrims, who worship the Black Madonna, which can be seen in the apse of the monastery church. Approximately 80 monks live here today.
In addition, the monastery is known for its boys' choir Escolania de Montserrat, which is proved documentary since 1307. Every day around 13.00 they sing the Marian hymn Virolai the in the church.
Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey is famous for its spectacular location, but also as a symbol of Catalan nationalism. During the Franco dictatorship it enjoyed religious privileges. It was not subordinated to the bishops appointed by Franco, and therefore the holy masses in the monastery were celebrated in Catalan, which was forbidden in the rest of the country. During our visit we got an impression.
On the square in front of the church the people are dancing the Sardana.
In 1881, Pope Leo XII declared the church a Basilica minor.
The Montserrat monastery is a Benedictine abbey. Here, St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus, took his vow.
Adjoined to the monastery is a library of 200,000 volumes and an archaeological museum.

Das Kloster ist berühmt wegen seiner spektakulären Lage, aber auch als Symbol für den katalanischen Nationalismus. Während der Franco Diktatur genoss es kirchliche Sonderrechte. Es unterstand nicht den von Franco ernannten Bischöfen und deshalb wurden im Kloster die Messen in katalanischer Sprache, die im übrigen Land verboten war, gehalten. Während unseres Besuches bekamen wir direkt einen Eindruck. Auf dem Platz vor der Kirche wurde Sardana getanzt.
Papst Leo XII. erhob 1881 die Kirche in den Stand einer Basilica minor.
Das Kloster ist eine Benediktinerabtei. Hier legte der heilige Ignatius von Loyola, der Gründer der Societas Jesu, des Jesuitenordens, sein Gelübde ab.
An das Kloster angeschlossen ist eine Bibliothek mit 200.000 Bänden und ein archäologisches Museum.

Words like “pyroclastic flow,” “seismic” and “dome collapse” pop up often in conversations with native islanders and longtime residents.
There is much to do in Montserrat other that visiting volcano devastation exclusion zones, there is epic nature hiking trails, black sand beaches, even a nice hike that will take you to the only white sand beach on the island. Not more then an hour and half train ride from Barcelona, Mount Montserrat offers different way to climb in. One is via train and another is via cable car.
