University Council is the governing board of the institution (sometimes called a Senate or a Board of Governors). It is collectively responsible for overseeing the institution's activities, determining its future direction and fostering an environment in which the institutional mission is achieved.
It makes final decisions on matters of fundamental concern to the institution. Council is responsible for approving and monitoring the strategic direction of the University, appointing the Vice-Chancellor (CEO) and monitoring their performance, and monitoring the health and performance (particularly financial) of the University and its management.
