The European Organization for Nuclear Research (French: Organisation européenne pour la recherche nucléaire), known as CERN (/ˈsɜːrn/; French pronunciation: [sɛʁn]; derived from the name "Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire"; see History), is a European research organization that operates the largest particle physics laboratory in the world. Established in 1954, the organization is based in a northwest suburb of Geneva on the Franco–Swiss border, (46°14′3″N 6°3′19″E / 46.23417°N 6.05528°E / 46.23417; 6.05528) and has 21 member states.Israel is the first (and currently only) non-European country granted full membership.
The term CERN is also used to refer to the laboratory, which in 2013 had 2,513 staff members, and hosted some 12,313 fellows, associates, apprentices as well as visiting scientists and engineers representing 608 universities and research facilities.
CERN's main function is to provide the particle accelerators and other infrastructure needed for high-energy physics research – as a result, numerous experiments have been constructed at CERN as a result of international collaborations.
The flat Earth model is an archaic conception of the Earth's shape as a plane or disk. Many ancient cultures subscribed to a flat Earth cosmography, including Greece until the classical period, the Bronze Age and Iron Age civilizations of the Near East until the Hellenistic period, India until the Gupta period (early centuries AD) and China until the 17th century. That paradigm was also typically held in the aboriginal cultures of the Americas, and the notion of a flat Earth domed by the firmament in the shape of an inverted bowl was common in pre-scientific societies.
The idea of a spherical Earth appeared in Greek philosophy with Pythagoras (6th century BC), although most Pre-Socratics retained the flat Earth model. Aristotle accepted the spherical shape of the Earth on empirical grounds around 330 BC, and knowledge of the spherical Earth gradually began to spread beyond the Hellenistic world from then on.
In early Egyptian and Mesopotamian thought the world was portrayed as a flat disk floating in the ocean. A similar model is found in the Homeric account of the 8th century BC in which "Okeanos, the personified body of water surrounding the circular surface of the Earth, is the begetter of all life and possibly of all gods." The Israelites likely had a similar cosmology, with the earth as a flat disc floating on water beneath an arced firmament separating it from the heavens.
A simple observation of almost everything around you actually tells you that the earth is not a globe, it is not spinning or moving through the universe at 600,000 MPH. Nor is the sun 93 million miles away. Go to any beach or body of water at sunrise and sunset and prove it for yourself. God Rule Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RUj4XhSRys

Summer 2017 afternoon. Storm is gathering over Sierra Nevada Mountains. By late afternoon giant never before seen Electrical Storm raged in Serra Nevada. Among the clouds a stadium sized Extraterrestrial UFO was either charging from the storm or causing it. Towards the evening the weather became better so Nevada Air National Guard was able to lift a chopper into the air to closer investigate the unusual phenomena. The chopper reached the clouds were UFO was spotted towards the sunset. At first UFO was not visible among the clouds. It was shimmering back and forward appearing and disappearing into the clouds. But the pilot could tell it's there looking at unusual clouds glow and electrical activity. Once the helicopter found the UFO and started to turn for the second circle to take better l...

Made a beautiful 4K UHD time lapse of the gorgeous sunset here in Toronto Canad on 9-23-15. Used my Canon EOS 5DS R + Zeiss Otus 55mm f/1.4 Lens. There was so much hype of controversy leading up to this exact date about CERN's LHC (large hadron collider) destroying earth, turned out to be a great day !

Visiting CERN in Geneva, Switzerland has been one of my biggest dreams the past decade thus I was extremely pleased being able to obtain a couple of rare tickets for a private tour at the facility. CERN runs the largest particle physics laboratory in the world covering 200 hectares, almost 5 times the size of central park in new york definitely worth a visit when you are in the area and these are my 4 reasons. After obtaining the passes, our guide toured us around the facility briefly explaining the purpose and functionalities of the specific buildings. We even entered the ATLAS particle detector building where we were able to observe the science team monitor the system stats on giant projector screens. The second facility had a historic machine called the synchro-cyclotron where the f...

James Beacham is a experimental high-energy particle physicist with the ATLAS Collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, where he sifts through the largest unique dataset in human history looking for exotic Higgs bosons, dark photons, gravitons, dark matter, extra dimensions, quantum black holes, and answers to the most baffling open questions of science. He is currently a post-doc with the Ohio State University. He did his PhD at New York University. He lives in Geneva and misses bagels back home in New York. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn...

She left with the sunlight
I cried to the moonlight
This crazy bitch, she stole my life
She left with the sunlight
I cried to the moonlight
This fucking bitch deserves to die
She left with the sunlight
She left with the sunlight
Not quite sure if I was fine
Still hungover from yesterday
All my trouble not that far away
Then I saw her
Dark hair, blue eyes, and an ass to die for
We were at this private party
I think I wouldn't even have met her
I'm so attracted
Looking at her drinking vodka Red Bull
She says she works in fashion
Yeah, she's an accountant from The Gap
But she's funny
We drank all night long
She impressed me with her iPod playlist
From Slayer to Aerosmith
No fucking Jeff Buckley
She told me, "I can play a guitar"
That's the moment I decided to bring her back home
Luckily my flatmate is abroad
I asked her, she said yes
She asked me when, I said now
She left with the sunlight
I cried to the moonlight
This crazy bitch, she stole my life
She left with the sunlight
I cried to the moonlight
This fucking bitch deserves to die
She left with the sunlight
She left with the sunlight
Going back home in a cab
We kept drinking a lot
She was touching my leg
It was electric
I fucked her to Mariah Carey's "Hero"
Now I'd like to sleep a little
So I said, "do you want to have a shower before you leave?"
I fell asleep so fucking drunk
She stole my silver shaker and my Jazzmaster
My fucking Jazzmaster
She left with the sunlight
I cried to the moonlight
This crazy bitch, she stole my life
She left with the sunlight
I cried to the moonlight
This fucking bitch deserves to die
I will find this (?) again
